Salt dough self-expression pendants!
[PT: Salt dough self-expression pendants!]
I've been wanting to try this for a long time.
My theriantrope pendant :
On the visible side I painted a puma paw (my theriotype) and on the hidden side a theta delta.
I was worried that the lgbtqia+ inclusive flag would be too difficult to paint on something so small, but it ended up looking great.
I used acrylic paint and gouache, I highly recommend acrylic paint because gouache makes weird little bits of paint when you apply the color (but it was still usable).
The recipe for salt dough:
Ingredients : salt, flour, water
You will also need a container to prepare all this in and another smaller container that will be used for measuring.
Fill the small container with salt and pour the salt into the large container.
Mix the salt and try to grind the larger grains (I didn't do this so the dough had small lumps).
Fill the small container with flour and pour it little by little into the salt, mixing well.
Refill the small container with flour and repeat the previous step. It takes two doses of flour for one dose of salt.
Mix well, then gradually add the contents of a small container of water.
Then knead the dough with your hands for 5 minutes (or more if you have made a huge quantity)
When the dough is ready, put it in a box or plastic wrap so that it doesn't dry out.
Now create things, pendants, beads, statuettes, etc. and let them air dry for at least several days.
And there you have it! :3
EDIT : About five months after posting this I was wearing my nonbinary pendant and a guy in my class said I was spreading propaganda ^^' (it wasn't too bad, he didn't bother me too much afterwards, it was quite funny) Beings in my class who I didn't know were queer came up to me and told me that I encouraged them to express their queerness! Yay!
