For something completely different, been falling down the Legends of Avantris hole lately and was compelled to draw my boy Shepherd fuckin' Morgan Hades style in the moment that got me going "oh I'm gonna like you."

Checking the ao3 status page not even an hour after they posted that they would likely be down for several more hours like "but what if..."
i've been rewatching avatar because it's historically been a "comfort" show, and uh. i kinda forgot how the entire overarching plot is about, yknow, a war against an imperialist nation that is trying to conquer the rest of the world? what american hegemony
and then the background themes of the entire show are largely about living under a reality where that imperialist force has conquered most of the world, and trying to fight against it and for the rights of ordinary people regardless
plus i'm currently on the ba sing se arc, and i also kinda forgot that the entire reason the city is so corrupt is because the dai li are preserving their cultural heritage while also maintaining order for the elites (literally the "upper ring"), and the reason why they've doubled down so hard is because of aforementioned imperialist attackers, and because refugees have been flocking to their walls
ANYWAY yeah so um. this show is really well done ofc, but it hasn't been super comforting lately and i have no idea why! such a mystery
fic readers please help me out!!
i'm not usually one to outsource my writing decisions, but i am well and truly stuck...... my writer brain is overpowering my reader brain so i could you some outside opinions. given these options:
A. one long multiple chapter fic with a time skip and a linear timeline
B. one long multiple chapter fic with a nonlinear timeline that jumps around pre and post time skip
C. two shorter multiple chapter fics, one pre time skip and one post time skip
D. two shorter one shots, one pre time skip and one post time skip
E. a more detailed or nuanced solution that didn't occur to me (that i nicely ask you elaborate on in the tags lol)
which fic sounds more appealing?
A
B
C
D
E
thank you so so much to anyone who contributes to the data 🙏🙏
Odysseus post the odyssey that gets to finally relax and not worry about Anything besides ruling his kingdom and being with his family and he loses some muscle and gets to eat whenever and whatever and he gets 8+ hours of sleep every night and he holds his wife’s hand everywhere he goes and he teaches Telemachus some fighting strategies and he’s always smiling and slowly starts to crack jokes like his younger self did and
checking my sideblogs and i realized this blog has like, over 100 followers. it is my most popular sideblog
<3 i love yall
This is my first Severance theory post and I don’t even think it’s right but:
With the clues we have pointing toward what Cold Harbor is, I increasingly think it’s related to death. This includes the cryptic way the doctor talks to Gemma about it, how important Lumen thinks it is, and the fact that the nurse on the testing floor asked Gemma about two methods of death we’ve already seen a character (Helly) nearly experience - suffocating (in the elevator) and drowning (during the outdoor wilderness experience).
I think Lumen is trying to gather information on how the brain/psyche processes death AND my current theory is that they want to see if one severed personality can experience death while the other(s) survives.
The reason I’m less sure on. Classic cult stuff would be to prove or disprove the existence of god/an afterlife but it doesn’t seem like Lumen’s Kier believe system would be as interested in that.
