Menagerie. A rather upstanding Nightclub and Burlesque show, with a rather specific ideal for clientele and workers; that is to say, it's a preferred haunt for Faunus, with what few humans joining usually being just as downtrodden and unfortunate as they are respectful.
Its owner and Manager, Kali Belladonna, was an industrious and respectable woman. she did her best to be, at least; though in these times, in these places, the dirty hands of the criminal underworld still reached out and held tight.
Thanks to her fervor and staunchness she managed to hold Menagerie as a neutral zone. Anyone may come so long as they respect the dancers and they leave their problems at the door, and not drag the 'mud' in.
And in that way it was a perfect meeting place.
The Faunus sat at a table, joined by several others. Roman Torchwick representing Miss Malachite, Someone sent from the Schnee family who gave the name "John Doe," Athena Nikos, leader of her family, and standing at the head of the table was the one that called them all together.
Prismeya Arc.
Her prosthetic whirred with each step as she paced, before she turned to the table, placed the foot of said prosthetic on it, and pulled a silenced pistol out its calf.
She inspected it, sliding it over to Kali.
"Just out of respect; I forgot it when I entered."
Kali Said nothing, sharpening her gaze at the Matri-Arc, her ears flicking in annoyance. She knew Prismeya Didn't forget, but she didn't quite understand what this play was yet.
"Now, as I'm certain you all know, I'm out of this game, out of this world. I dotted my i's, crossed my t's, and payed every debt I owed of both Blood and Money."
She pressed leaned over the table, glowering at the members of it.
"So I wish to know why my dear, Sweet Jaune, my Precious Baby-Boy Has such a Large BOUNTY ON HIS HEAD."
Her teeth were grit, clearly restraining herself from shouting.
Everyone looked to one another, offering no information.
Prismeya glared at each of them individually.
"Prismeya, you know I wouldn't have anyone- I'm in too deep as it is! It's hard enough to stay neutral, I wouldn't go after anyone on my call!" Kali retorted, clearly concerned that she was being threatened.
Prismeya pushed off the table and stood tall, taking a deep breath. "Then pray tell-" she focused on Kali "Why Jaune mentioned making friends with a certain Black-haired cat faunus named Blake?"
Kali's eyes went wide as dinner plates. "SHE'S SAFE? BLake's okay?"
Prismeya was taken aback "You didn't know?"
"No."
"Then take this as a favor; she was last seen at a Department store in a mall in Vale proper, Retrieve her. That being said-" Prismeya ran her eyes across everyone, standing at her full height "Whoever set the Hit can call it off, and I will forgive them. No harm; No foul. But, should the Hit be fulfilled, Whoever Claims it, dies. Whoever set it Dies."
She let the words sink into the four at the.
Athena stared at her, eyes set right upon her.
Roman Put his cigar out, clearly considering her promise behind the otherwise aloof look in on his face.
Kali set her ears flat, grim knowledge sitting uncomfortably in her gut.
The Schnee's pawn had no notion of concern or care, unseen behind his sunglasses.
Athena turned slightly in her seat, her whole body now facing Prismeya.
"I assume one of mine has taken it upon themself?"
"You Daughter, Pyrrha."
Athena went rigid. One of the few things could sent chills down her spine was her daughter being in danger, and to be beholden to the Ire of Prismeya Arc was to be declared dead.
Roman slung his cane over his shoulders, rest his arms on it. "So we're here to deliver a warning, yeah? Good to know. Could've been an email though."
Prismeya walked over to the man. "An email is ephemeral; non existent. An email is not physical; It cannot hold water."
She tore the cane from him, emptying the round out, snapping it over her knee, her non-prosthetic knee.
He seemed truly taken aback by it first angered, but his rage was quickly supplanted by fear.
The Schnee Spokesman drew his own weapon, a silenced 22. pistol, and aimed it at Prismeya
Prismeya cupped Roman's chin, ignoring the burly man in the black suit, and tilted Roman's head up. "This is far more important to me than you could possibly imagine with what little grey matter exists under that mop of red hair~ I needed to have this meeting so people like you could understand that~"
And then she turned to the Schnee Representative, who hadn't lowered his weapon.
"I Suggest you put that down. It was rude enough for Mr. Torchwick to bring his weapon, but at least he had the decency to make it inconspicuous~"
The lilting of her voice was laced with a venom that could curdle the blood of any living being that understood what she was saying.
The Man, John Doe, Set his pistol shakily on the table.
Prismeya returned to her place at the head of it.
"So, I would like you all to spread the word; Should this Hit persist and come to fruition ... The Bloodmoon will rise, Drowning All in its Tide; Painting with Red, with The Blood of the Dead; For each life cut short, an Equal retort."
Prismeya smiled, the corners of her mouth wrinkled with age. In any other context it would have been warm, delightful, outright motherly. To all at the table it was deadly; The Rattle of a Snake, the fin of a circling shark, Click of a Hammer being pulled back.
Everyone there knew her Threat- nay, her promise.
Whether they comprehended the depth of it was a another matter entirely.

Commission of another Mafia AU scenario for the delightful @novankenn
Turns out assassins have a type. Who’d’ve thunk. Yang is a bit more aware of Blake’s world than Jaune is, but I don’t think she’s a part of it

Jaune had always been told if you held someone in your heart, they were never truly gone. He really hoped that was the case, because in his fragmenting thoughts he was afraid, terrified of forgetting her. Of loosing the one more than real connection with her. The kiss they shared had been their first, and heartbreakingly their last. Yet the feeling of her lips was like an ethereal dream. One Jaune wished he would never wake from.
Even though he was with Ren and Nora, camping at Yang and Ruby's place, Jaune still felt lost and alone. They were waiting for Ruby to awaken, if she ever did to make a decision. Do they pursue the one lead they have about Cinder and her team? Or do they follow the example of other teams like CFVY and transfer to one of the other academies to continue their training?
Jaune as much as he wanted to hurt Cinder. To make her feel the pain he was sure the psychotic bitch had caused Pyrrha, he also wanted to gather more support. Cinder had bested Ozpin and Pyrrha, in single combat. They need more manpower. That was the only way he could see them getting a win.
"Chilly." Jaune commented to himself near the forested edge of the Xiao Long homestead. Crossing his arms over his chest, he started to rub his upper arms, trying to get some heat back in them.
He started to rub his arms with more vigor, as his shoulders were suddenly flooded with a bone deep chill. He looked about, checking the tree branches to see if there was a breeze. There was no movement. The air was as still as a grave.
"What the hell?" Jaune muttered seeing his breath before his eyes. That wasn't right. It was summer. There is no way the air was that cold. At least not naturally.
Jaune glanced about him, trying to pinpoint the source. His mind racing through the old stories, and folk lore his grandmother used to try and teach them as children.
"This is crazy..." Jaune whispered, before clearing his throat, to speak with a clear voice. "Pyrrha?"
A sudden bone chill invaded him. Wrapping about him as if he was being embraced in a hug from behind. Jaune's breath came in short gasps.
"I'm sorry." Jaune whimpered out, as tears welled up in his eyes. "I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough, that I let..."
"No Jaune." It was so soft that he could barely hear it. "It wasn't your fault."
The feeling of bone biting cold fell away and Jaune turned. His sorrow filled azure eyes suddenly regain some of their spark. He could see her.
"I never wanted to hurt you..." Pyrrha spoke, her voice was like the whisper of the gentlest breeze, but Jaune heard it. Tears still rolled down his cheeks, but the barest hint of his normal smile was upon his face, and his shattered heart at least felt partially patched.
"I miss you so much." Jaune whispered, unable to do anything but look upon the wispy, translucent form of his partner.
"I miss you." Pyrrha responded, a soft smile on her lips, "I'm never leaving you side again."
AHHHHHH MY HEART
"Voices AU" When Jaune is dreaming, can Pyrrha interact directly with him, or more specifically when he's having a nightmare can the ghosts help him get out of it, or does his subconscious twist everything up so much that when they try it just makes things worse?
A ghost talking to him while he’s asleep would essentially be the same as the person talking to him while he’s asleep
Unfortunately, Jaune has quite a bit of trauma wrapped up in Pyrrha, so her ghost trying to comfort him in a nightmare doesn’t always have the result she wants. She’s more likely to help than not, but when she accidentally makes it worse, it’s WAY worse
Okay... "Voices AU" that starts AFTER the Fall into the EverAfter? Just asking because a few of the Jaune<=>Pyrrha images look like they could be from earlier, maybe her trying to reach out to him, but he hasn't unlocked the ability yet?
You're images are driving me 🤪!
Their so good, and I want... I want... to explore and expand on them with my lunacy.... LOL Anyway. Love the art work. Thanks for sharing it.
He’s actually had the ability his whole life, he just doesn’t REALIZE until after the Fall for a variety of reasons. He lived in a small town where any ghosts he saw were attributed to an active imagination, so he never thought they were actually spirits. While at Beacon and dead students he saw he mistook for living ones
Jaune didn’t know any of these people when they were alive. So he would have no reason to think they’re dead. Besides, those who have passed on don’t really talk to the living. They can’t be heard, after all
It’s only after/during the Fall that he figures it out. One, because during the Fall he watches fellow students get massacred and then sees them later on the docks. At the time he thinks he just losing it, that he’s snapped from the trauma
But then there’s Pyrrha
She follows the remains of team JNPR from Beacon back to Jaune’s home, to Patch, then to Mistral. At first she keeps her distance, certain that nobody can see her. But this is her family. She can’t leave them, even if they have no idea she’s there
And Jaune keeps staring at her. Staring through her? It’s hard to tell. For the first time in months, someone meets her eyes. He doesn’t actually look that shocked, just tired
Jaune obviously thinks she’s a hallucination, brought on by grief or stress
He’s been seeing see-through people, DEAD people, ever since the Fall. Bloody from Grimm bites, skulls caved in by Paladins, bodies riddled with bullet holes from the White Fang. He’s already failed Pyrrha (she’s hovering by his side, smiling softly, he can’t look at her, she isn’t real) he can’t fail what remains of his team.
It’s not until Pyrrha tries talking to him that Jaune starts to put together what’s been going on
Hey,
First off glad you're enjoying my spin on your Jauniper (FINALLY SPELLED IT RIGHT!)... but I have a few questions...
You've mention Jauniper is about the size of a horse, so that should put his weight around 900 to 1,200 pounds IF he was well fed. So can assume he's weighing in around say 600-800 lbs in his pre-Haven days? Or should it be less?
2. Obviously he has claws on his hind and forelimbs. What about his hands? Does he have rabbit-like claws on his fingers?
3. I've been assuming Jauniper can move as the speed of a hare/rabbit (which is about 45 mph) and can jump a similar distance (10-12 ft and up to 10 ft high)... of course I'm using the exceptions for North American Hare/Rabbit varieties. Do these fall in line with your vision of the "Hares Breadth Au"?
3. I'm thinking of doing a couple more "shorts" and was wondering if I can use a couple of your Jauniper illustrations for the collection page.
Again thank you for letting me have some fun with your AU. It is really interesting, and look forward to more stories and info dumps.
Oh hello!! Question and answer time :]
1. When he’s well fed, he actually weighs around 700-1000 pounds, more wild horse weight than thoroughbred. Only the muscles he needs to live, not extra ones for work/racing. That’s how I’m factoring in the fact that he’s a rabbit, not actually a horse
So pre-Haven he’d probably be hovering around 500. If it wasn’t for the significant bunny fluff, he’d look pretty emaciated
2. He does have little rabbit claws on his hands! I’ve been drawing them that way at least. Once he’s back in civilization he keeps them filed to keep from cutting people accidentally. Not filed all the way gone, just blunt. Obviously, they’re quite sharp before he reaches Mistral with the others
3. Those speeds, but the jumps are different He probably can jump 6-8 feet forward, and he can’t jump NEARLY that high. Rabbits can jump that high cause they weight like eight pounds. Jauniper weighs more than 500. So yeah, he can jump higher than a human because he’s built different, but he can’t jump ten feet into the air
Most of his “stats” I’m basing off of wild horses, because based on how CRWBY designed Juniper, her anatomy is more similar to a horse’s than a rabbit’s. So her speed, weight, etc. would be comparable
4. Sure! Go ahead and use one of the pieces, granted you credit me properly (link to the original piece, tag me, etc.)
Can’t wait to see what else you do!
