OCD Themes That I Struggle With
A subtype of OCD where individuals experience intrusive, intense, and irrational fears about having or developing a serious, life-threatening, or undiagnosed illness.
A subtype of OCD driven by a fear of responsibility, making people feel excessively accountable for preventing harm, controlling outcomes, or managing others’ emotions.
MORAL OCD (NON-RELIGIOUS)
Also known as Scrupulosity OCD, is a subtype of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) characterized by intense, intrusive fears of being immoral, sinful, or ethically wrong, leading to compulsive behaviors like excessive prayer, reassurance-seeking, or mental rituals to achieve moral purity, often causing significant distress and interfering with daily life, despite the person's actual good intentions.
SOMATIC OCD (RELATED TO HEALTH CONCERN OCD)
A subtype of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder where individuals become excessively focused on automatic bodily sensations or functions, like breathing, blinking, swallowing, or heartbeats, turning normally unconscious processes into distressing obsessions that trigger compulsions to control or analyze them, often worsening the issue.
RACISM OCD (YES THIS IS REAL)
A subtype of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) involving persistent, intrusive, and unwanted thoughts, images, or urges related to race, often featuring a distressing fear of being racist, offending others, or acting on bigoted impulses. It frequently attacks an individual's core values, causing intense shame, guilt, and anxiety, even though the thoughts contradict their true beliefs.
A form of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder where distress comes from hidden, internal compulsions rather than visible, physical actions. It involves constant, unwanted, and often disturbing intrusive thoughts—fearing violence, taboo acts, or harm—without obvious, outward rituals. While often labeled "no compulsion" OCD, it is a misnomer; sufferers perform internal mental rituals to cope, such as reassurance-seeking, rumination, or mental checking.
A mental health condition characterized by the irresistible, recurrent urge to pull out hair from the scalp, eyebrows, or other body areas, leading to noticeable hair loss, distress, and functional impairment. It is classified as an obsessive-compulsive and related disorder and a body-focused repetitive behavior (BFRB)
