Hi friends! It’s pretty rare for me to talk about personal things on public spaces like this, but I’m making an exception today to talk about an anxiety disorder that I live with. More under the cut to keep your dash going :)

Lord please grant me the grace and patience to not COMPLETELY GO OFF on ignorant people who make OCD jokes on posts explaining why it’s crappy to make OCD jokes.
it’s ocd awareness week so if u have ny questions or nything abt ocd feel free to ask me. i won’t judge ur question (unless ur being obviously purposefully rude).
or if u just wanna talk abt ur own ocd but don’t wanna do it on ur blog? message me abt it!
(put a * if u want ur message answered privately, and i only ask that u don’t send nything relating to se/x or se/xual subjects)
also i obviously don’t know everything and my experiences don’t apply to everyone, but i’ll do what i can
(also feel free to just ask invasive personal questions about my ocd if u want - i don’t mind those as long as ur polite abt it)
Today is the start of ocd awareness week. Throughout the week I'll try and post different posts/resources etc. Ocd is debiliating for anybody who suffers with it. It can take so many forms and affect you so much mentally and physically - it's not 'liking to be tidy', it's an overwhelming and difficult disorder to deal with Because of the nature of it, it can also be hard to talk about. From intrusive thoughts down to the way it affects you without even realising. It can affect everything down to the way you blink and breathe and even cause sensory issues, so can therefore be very difficult to deal with sometimes. Ocd is not spoken about enough - awareness of intrusive thoughts is not raised enough, and all other aspects of it too. Let's raise awareness and open the conversation about ocd, because the more we talk about it the more people struggling will gradually feel ok to talk
I wrote this article for OCD awareness week, which starts tomorrow. It was hard to come out so openly, because I’ve never shared the full details of my ocd with anyone, but I feel a weight has been lifted :)
Ocd facebook group
I made a facebook group for teens and young adults with ocd. If you search “Teen and Young Adults With OCD” on facebook, you should be able to find it. If not, message me the email you use for facebook and I’ll send you an invite!
OCD Mini-Mission #5 (The Last One!)
Every day of OCD Awareness Week, I’ve posted a “mini-mission” for myself and others to partake in. The idea is to give myself something different to post about for each day of the week, to strengthen the Tumblr OCD community, and to spread recovery-focused, truth-based OCD awareness. October 11th - Make a post announcing OCD Awareness Week! October 12th - What is one thing you wish everyone knew about OCD? October 13th - Think of a time you told someone about your OCD. How did they respond? If you’ve never told anyone, what has kept you silent? October 14th - Media representations of OCD tend to be quite limited. Have you seen any media representations of OCD that ring true for you? Do you have any OCD head canons? (Meaning favorite characters you think could have OCD, or who you would like to see being portrayed as having OCD) October 15th - 17th - Reflect on OCD Awareness Week. What were the highlights? Did you encounter any difficult/challenging moments? Did you encounter any moments that felt powerful/transformative? I’m going away for the weekend and have decided to make this my last mini-mission for OCD Week 2015. Many thanks to all of you who created responses, liked, reblogged, read, and/or participated in OCD Awareness Week in other ways! Tag your posts with “#ocd community” and “#ocd mini-mission” :)
OCD Mini-Mission #4
I had a busy day and forgot to post a new mission until now! Feel free to post your response today, tomorrow, or whenever. Also feel free to message me anonymous responses if you would like to participate anonymously! Every day of OCD Awareness Week, I’m posting a “mini-mission” for myself and others to partake in.
