MCU (Female Sorceress Reader X The Scarlet Witch)
Summary: It's Valentine's Day, and what better way to spend than with someone trying to kill you.
Word Count: 2.7K
Content: Scarlet Milf, Darkhold, Death, but it works out(?)
It's February 14th, 2024.
You have been watching the witch formally known as Wanda Maximoff for the last few months.
You first took notice of her at the same time an old acquaintance of yours did. But she beat you to the punch, and then the hex and WestView happened.
Now you see who she is becoming or, better yet, what she is now.
The Avenger is gone.
The Scarlet Witch remains.
As you hold a leather-bound book close to your chest, you pray to your goddess that this works. That you can save the witch from herself. You know what she plans to do, and you feel for her. You don't blame her. She's been through enough, but you just know that the outcome of her future could happen differently.
So, as your bare feet step into the symbol you've made on the ground surrounded by candles and shrines from your past, are you ready to do what you NEED to do.
You're going to give your heart to the scarlet witch.
And if this spell works, the darkness in her will leave so she can find her children without killing a child.
You've done it once before, three hundred years ago for you in a different dimension. The spell worked, but the light power within sent you tumbling through the cosmos until you landed here.
Anyways, three hundred years later, you're prepared to do it again.
So, as your green dress brushes against the dirt on the floor do, you levitate the book away from your chest and start lifting your arms as you whisper the spell.
Your pink lips touch as your heart begins to glow. You lift your right arm and flick three fingers back before grabbing onto the air and pulling. You lift your head towards the sky as you feel the glow surrounding your body. It lifts you.
It's working.
But you're not alone, and you sense it too late.
A force hits you that sends your body to the floor as your book goes flying and your candles blow out. The white glow stops as she speaks up.
"Who are you?"
Your eyes go wide when you hear her voice. The accent is something you've always fallen for.
You close your eyes and bring yourself up to your knees.
"I asked you a question." The Scarlet Witch sneers as she takes a step closer to you. Now, standing behind your body.
You open your eyes and turn your head to face her.
The first thing you notice are her black fingertips. As your eyes move upward, you see how her suit has been cracked and turned black.
Finally, you lift your white eyes to her.
Your mouth falls open as you see her face—high cheekbones. Green eyes. Pillowy red lips with a face softer than wool.
She looks just like your Wanda.
"Your eyes are white." The Witch says to you as she begins walking around you. Her boots kicking away the symbol on the ground. You can't help but watch with your hands on your knees.
"Are you ever going to speak?" She says when she looks at you. Stopping next to your book. "My name is Y/N Y/L/N." The Witch hums as she looks you up and down. Her eyes roaming over the part of your dress that leaves more to be desired.
"Why am I in your book?" A red glow surrounds your book and lifts it to the woman across from you. "You wouldn't believe me." You shake your head. You know how this song and dance plays. "The Darkhold won't let you listen."
The Scarlet Witch tilts her head. "How do you know about the Darkhold?" Without giving you a second to answer, you find yourself being lifted and thrown several feet away—your body landing and tumbling. Thankfully, your magic cushioned the blow as you put your legs out and dug them into the dirt until you turned and stood up, surprising the Witch.
She watched your green dress turn into a suit similar to the one she wore.
Before the Darkhold showed her the truth.
You lifted your hands up as you prepared to defend yourself.
"You want to kill me and take it, don't you?" The Witch strutted towards you. "No." You shook your head as your eyes lifted to her face. "I want to help." A red ball of magic formed in the hands of the Witch. "I have all of the help I need." She threw the red ball towards you and another.
White shields extended themselves from your outstretched hands as you blocked her attacks. However, this didn't stop her as she started shooting lines of magic towards you. You effortlessly duck and dodge, but you know she won't stop.
You needed to get her to see what you knew to be true.
So, as you made counter moves and an effort not to fight back, you worked your way closer and closer to her. Until you found yourself close enough, and that's when the glow of your powers surrounded your body, and in a flash, you disappeared.
With the Witches arms raised, she looked around. You were gone, but she could sense you. The Darkhold was whispering to her that you were still present.
And just like what happened to you, Wanda sensed you when it was too late.
Your right arm wrapped itself around the waist of The Witch, making both of your mouths fall open at the touch, but you remained focused as you lifted her left hand with your powers to the side of your head.
She needed to see your memories.
At first, it was you and Wanda running away from chores and the labor forced upon you by others in your village.
Young adults trying to figure out who you were.
Slowly, it morphed into stolen kisses and nights of passion as Wanda's mouth worked it way across your body.
Followed by dates with a gold ring and the trials and burning of other witches... it became the final straw. The two of you knew you had to run away.
So you did.
But somewhere along the path, when you didn't realize it, your mind had succumbed to Wanda and her whisperings.
Your fiancée became more possessive. Not only of you but of the children Wanda grew inside of her.
Like magic, they were brought into your world. You and Wanda raised your boys with love and care for several years.
But what you didn't know wouldn't hurt you, right?
You thought the same thing about Wanda. You were certain the book was with her.
You needed to save Billy and Tommy... but...
The night it happened, you were on your knees. Bound by red magic as Wanda's black fingertips ran through your hair. Scratching your head.
"You're so good to me." She spoke in a hushed Sokovain tone. "So why do you disobey me?" Wanda moved her hands downward and pulled. Making you cry out as she yanked you to the floor.
She scoffed.
You looked up to her as she conjured the Darkhold into the air. "You're going to leave me. Betray me." She spoke as if she knew what she was talking about.
You shook your head. "I'm trying to save them. They need their mom." You cried out as a red line of magic wrapped around your throat.
Wanda smiled with a roll of her eyes. "Oh, please. We both know I could squeeze a lot harder, and you'll be fine." Wanda's attention left you as she grabbed your book. "The Darkhold was right. I am in here." She ripped the pages of The Scarlet Witch out.
They softly landed next to you.
Tears in your eyes as you read the spell one last time.
"Wanda, please..." Your voice was weak. She closed your book and let it disappear. "Please?" She tightened her jaw when your eyes looked at her. "You want to take MY children away from me?!"
That's when you knew she was officially gone.
Ours became Mine.
Plus, she didn't even remember...
You swallowed the hurt in your throat and let your heart quietly break before mustering up the courage to speak.
"Wanda..." That was the last time you said her name. "Billy and Tommy..." Your lips wobbled as you gently cried. "They're already gone..."
The Scarlet Witch froze. You took the opportunity to catch your breath and lift your hand to touch the red magic around your arm. "You're not supposed to know that..." She spoke before using her magic to pull you to her feet. Bringing you inches away from her face. "Their death isn't your fault." The Witch gritted her teeth, but for a split second, you saw her eyes soften as your words reached her.
The red around your wrist turned white and allowed your arms to break free of the hold she had on you. The Witch, in shock, dropped you and watched as you landed on your feet across the room.
Ready for combat.
"You're not going to stop me! I am their mother, and I am the only one who can save them! I need them."
The Darkhold had control. You knew that. But seeing your wife scream at you as tears ran down her face would always hurt.
But she was going to go take someone else's Billy and Tommy. She was going to kill you if she had to.
So you knew what needed to be done.
"I love you, and I'm sorry, but I can't allow you to do this." You looked into her green eyes and let out a white glow as The Scarlet Witch threw her hex bolts at you.
But in the end, it worked.
When the moment struck, you let your power course its way through your heart until it became too much, and it latched itself onto the next living thing.
Wanda Maximoff.
Within an instant, Wanda and her old memories came back. Her copy of the Darkhold destroyed.
But you were gone.
A copy of your leather-bound book fell in front of your wife. It opened to a chapter on multiversal travel. A study you had been working on since becoming aware of the Darkhold's influence.
Written in black ink at the top of the page was your writings: "Find our boys. The ones who need a mother. The ones who need you, Wanda. And don't worry about me. Just don't ever forget. I love you."
The Scarlet Witch fell to the ground in front of you as you panted from the memory.
You watched her wrap her hands into fists as she let out a muffled cry. "You're showing me lies!" She screamed out in denial as you caught your breath and stumbled. The memory taking it out of you.
It was your first time reliving it since it happened.
"I'm not lying, and you know it." The Witch shook her head and turned around, falling onto the side of her body—tears in her eyes. "You know about the other versions of you. You know about this one. I'm not lying to you. So don't lie to yourself." You spoke with a bite to your words as you could never forget YOUR Wanda. You closed your eyes and let out a sigh. "I'm trying to help you. Please let me."
You opened your eyes to see The Witch right herself onto her knees. For the first time, she looked defeated. Ashamed. Her head hung low. She was vulnerable.
Carefully, you took steps towards her and lifted your right hand to her face. She flinched, and it pained you to see. "Wanda..." The name quietly left your lips.
She looked up.
"I can't fight the Darkhold much longer." You nodded. "You can find them without killing America Chavez. Take my book when I'm gone." Wanda looked around and nodded as she sniffled.
You wiped a tear from her cheek and pulled your hand back as you once again let your heart glow white. The spell leaving your lips as your body lifts itself upward.
Wanda watches in awe of you, but at the moment, she blinks, and her burnt copy of the Darkhold falls in front of her as white sparkles flow through the air.
Once again, you gave your heart to Wanda Maximoff.
Once again, you were sent tumbling through the cosmos. Between universes and reaches unknown. You flew until you came crashing down within a shield of your magic on an old barn.
A dozen sheep looked at you before scattering away as you stood up. You turned back and saw the pile of hay and grass you landed on. "Sorry." You spoke to the sheep as you gingerly moved past them through the open barn doors.
You looked around and found yourself in an apple orchard.
To your left, there was a two-story house not far. You cracked your neck and began walking towards it.
As you got closer, only then did you see how worn out your green dress was. How destroyed it had gotten when your armor took hits- "Stop right there!"
That voice. You knew that voice.
"Lift your head!" The voice commanded, and only then did you notice the red wisps surrounding you.
Your breath hitched as you complied.
You did as you were told. You slowly lifted your head to find not one but three people looking at you.
Three Maximoffs. Wanda, Billy, and Tommy.
"Y/N..." Wanda lowered her arm, and the magic around you disappeared. Her mouth dropped before she recovered. But her lips shook as her eyes watered.
You tilted your head as the emotional toll started taking you over. "Wanda... My Wanda..." You stammered and felt yourself about to become a blubbering mess.
Was it her?
"Mom, don't!" The twins tried to hold their mother back as she took a step towards you. "It's alright." She whispered to them as she started walking down the porch steps.
You took a step back as you started to cry. Afraid of the false hope this could. It had been so long. "Is it you?" You asked, making Wanda chuckle. "Is it you?" She asked back.
You bite back a laugh as you choked on a cry. "I asked you first." You said. Wanda nodded.
From thin air, your leather-bound book appeared, and the pages turned to your writings at the top of the page.
You put a hand over your eyes as you fell to the ground and began to cry.
You found your way back.
In an instance, Wanda was wrapping you up in a hug as she cried as well. Wanda, overwhelmed, reached down and pulled your chin upwards to crash her lips onto yours.
You kissed her back and melted into the arms of your wife.
"How long has it been?" You asked through sobs. "Five years," Wanda said as her lips found the side of your face again. "For me, it's been three hundred." Wanda frowned and felt her heart shattered.
She couldn't believe it.
The twins carefully took steps off the porch and to the spot where their mom held a woman in a green dress. "Mom..." Billy spoke up, making the two of you turn your heads. "They look the same." You whispered. "I found them a year ago," Wanda whispered back.
"Who is this?" Tommy looked worried, and rightfully so.
Wanda smiled at you before looking to your sons. "Boys, you remember how I came into your lives?" The twins nodded at the memory of your Wanda being there for them when their Wanda died of cancer. "You found us when we needed you," Billy spoke up.
You brushed away a tear as you watched Wanda fill her role as Mom once again.
"Well, this is my wife Y/N Y/L/N. She, like me, was a mother to our boys, and she saved me when all was dark." The twins seem to be following along. "How come she wasn't with you then?" Tommy asked.
You placed a hand on Wanda's arm and scooted away from her. Closer to the boys. "Because..." You started. "My magic sent me away, and I'll explain when you're older..." Tommy rolled his eyes while Billy looked excited. "It took me a while to get back. But I knew I would come back. Do you know why?" You sniffled at the sight of your sons.
Tommy shook his head while Billy asked: "Why?"
You looked back to Wanda before looking at the twins again. "Because, like your mother, the both of you have my heart. And I will always find my way back to the ones I love."

Post Hawkeye Series - (Female Reader X Kate Bishop)
Summary: You get saved by Clint Barton... or so you thought.
Word Count: 3.3K
TW: Guns, Men
You don't know why you moved to New York.
Okay, that's a lie. Yes, you do. You got a nice fancy job in the old Stark tower that paid you slightly more than you were qualified for.
Plus, you were determined to make it on your own. To prove to everyone back home, including your mother, that you could make it. Be someone. Look adversity in the eye and say fuck you!
But fucking adversity left you drained. Tired every day after working way longer than should be legally allowed. No time to socialize or find people with your interest. Not that you had much besides keeping up with the Avengers and binge-watching your three favorite sitcoms. You thought about getting a cat. One named Liho you saw on an adoption website, but a day later, the cat was snatched up.
Regardless, you wanted more from your life.
So here you were, walking home alone late on a Friday night after your numerous train stops.
Now, the part of the borough you lived in wasn't bad; it just had too many things going on with insufficient outlets. Speaking of that, there was another item on your list: find a new place.
As the late winter air nipped the sidewalk, you started making your way to your place when you turned the corner, finding yourself at the sight of a half dozen men in tracksuits.
You crossed your arms over the front of your cream-colored sweater and put your head down. Maybe if eye contact was lost, they would miss you.
If only.
"Hey, where are you going?" You didn't dare to look up as your Doc Martens hit the ground a little faster and harder. "Hey! Lady! We're talking to you." A second voice called out from behind you before a third one stopped you. Physically. With your head down so well, you didn't see the man until you fell on your butt on the dirty sidewalk.
"Now, now. We're not here to hurt you. We want to get to know you." He spoke, sending chills down your body. You began fumbling with your bag while doing your best to keep an eye on the ugly man with the funny voice. "Hey!" A fourth guy reached down and snatched your brown leather bag. "You won't be needing this!" The man laughed as he held up your pink can of pepper spray.
You were probably about to do something dumb when it happened.
THUNK
You watched as an arrow came and shot the can of pepper spray the guy was holding up. It sent the contents of the can directly into his eyes. Blinding him and leaving him a burning mess as the guys around you ducked in shock. You kept her head low, too. Not wanting to get sprayed or accidentally hit with an arrow.
But wait. Why would you get hit? That's when you smiled. An Avenger!
You crawled away from the crying man and lifted your head to look in the direction the arrow was fired but saw nothing on the rooftops.
The man behind you still screamed in pain as another one decided he was done and started to take off. But that's when you saw another arrow being fired from the laundry mat rooftop. You couldn't make out the shape of the person, but a bow and arrow gave away the identity. Clint Barton.
You watched as the arrow flew in front of the guy before it broke apart and formed a giant net. Wrapping the guy up and taking him down into a store window, knocking him out.
2 down. 4 to go. You thought.
But the tracksuit guys must've thought the same thing as one of them ran up to you and grabbed you. Pinning your right arm behind you. You tried your best to fight him off, but your slaps and swings didn't do anything, especially when he started to bend your arm.
You silently cursed yourself. You really should've taken those self-defense classes Collen Wing told you about.
"Show yourself, and we won't hurt her!" The man spoke in a heavy, accented voice. You winced as he tightened the tight grip he had on you. "Ow!" The man told you to shut up as the three other guys started forming a circle around you.
Safety in numbers and whatnot.
"Come out!" One of them yelled, making you smile. You knew an Avenger wouldn't give themselves away. Right now, they have the upper hand. The element of surprise they lose that and they-
"Alright! Here I am!"
Huh? You widened your eyes as a female voice loudly spoke from that same rooftop. Shit. You thought. This wasn't Clint Barton. This wasn't an Avenger. It was some girl playing vigilante...
But then the voice stepped into the glow of the moon.
You took back what you said.
This wasn't some dumb girl playing vigilante while risking both of your lives. This was some beautiful dumb girl playing vigilante, risking your lives.
Her pretty black hair and sharp jawline had you hooked.
Just wait till later when you got close enough to look into her eyes and take in her figure.
"Don't hurt her!" The voice called out as they took more steps on the rooftop before she was at the edge. What was she doing?
"Shoot that one!" The guy with his hold on you yelled to the other three guys. But as the three readied their guns, it was already too late because when you looked back to the rooftop, she was gone. "Fuck!" The guy to your left yelled. "Where did she go?!"
They were now growing more panicked, and you were loving it from being scared to amused in a couple of minutes. Don't get it twisted. You were still greatly concerned for your safety and well-being, but watching the guys who appeared to be tough now start freaking out over a girl with a string and two sticks was a little funny.
"Wait, I think I see-" Before the guy to your right could finish, an arrow was fired from an unknown direction, hitting him in the right arm. Like the guy before him, he was out like a light. When you squinted your eyes at the arrow, you could see it had a label on it. A label!
'Zzzzz,' you internally laughed and slowly couldn't wait to see who was saving your life.
3 down. 3 to go.
"Shit!" The guy behind you yelled. "Bro, where did that come from?! Where did it come from!"
"Over here!" She gleefully cheered!
The guy with his hold on you swung you around to the right as he tried to find her. "Fire!" He commanded the last two guys. "But-" "Do it!" You attempted to shout no, but it was too late. The two guys took some steps forward and started firing their guns. Silenced, of course. But as their bullets were fired in the direction they thought the girl was, from the corner of your eye, you saw her run across the street to your side of the road.
You tried your best to get a better look at her but failed. The last thing you saw was purple and a ponytail bouncing back and forth.
"Stop!" The one behind you, who you were now calling Dudley (Even though this was certainly not his name.), yelled. "Go check it out, bro." "You go." "I'm holding the hostage, bro!" You rolled your eyes and sighed. One of the three gave you a look but scoffed. "Fine! I'll check it out."
He began to walk forward and cross the street. "Anything?" Dudley asked. The one near the shot-out car was about to respond when he bent down. "Hey! Bro, it looks like she left an arrow-" As he grabbed it, it shocked him, sending him to the ground convulsing.
4 down. 2 to go.
"Fuck this!" The other grunt said as he took off running. Unknowingly to right where she was. So, as he was too busy yelling back at Dudley, the girl dressed in a purple superhero suit with her bow and arrow stepped out from behind a parked car and tripped him with it. He crashed into the sidewalk, and as if she had done it a thousand times before, she twirled her body around and pulled out an arrow, sending it right towards you.
Wait towards you?
Towards you?!
You tried your best to move out of the way! But the last tracksuit guy kept his hold on you; besides, it was too late. The arrow made contact!
Your eyes closed when it happened, but a second later, they were open. You weren't shot! Right? "Oh shit!" The girl from down the block yelled before she took off running towards you. "Don't move! Don't move!"
You were held hostage and witnessed a single woman take out six guys like an Avenger. You most certainly were not leaving.
When she finally made it in front of you. Your breath hitched. She was even more gorgeous up close. Now you could make put the details of her face. Her jaw still sharp, but her lips looked soft like pillows. She had a scratch on her chin and a bandaid on her left eyebrow. Her eyes were a mix of grey and blue. They briefly darted at you before she passed right by you. Wait...
You turned your body as she stopped two feet behind you. "Oh no, no, no!" She put a hand to her head and looked down to the ground. You looked down as well and couldn't believe your eyes.
"I didn't mean to pick that arrow, I promise! I don't even know why I carry it! I mean, what's the point of labeling these arrows if I'm not looking at which one I pick!" She rambled as you couldn't fathom what you were looking at. Sure, you heard the stories of Scott Lang. You went to see Rogers: The Musical. But in front of you on the sidewalk, you were looking at a couple-inch-tall Dudley, and you couldn't believe it.
You pushed your finger into him, knocking Dudley over.
"Hey, don't do that." The girl scolded you, making you look up at her. "He just held me hostage. Are you serious?" She dropped her mouth and closed it again. "I mean, you're not wrong, but now he's.. well.. that.." She looked back down to the ground. "What should we do?" She asked aloud. "We?!" You lifted your eyebrows to her, making her snap her head back to you. "Yeah. I was saving your life!"
"Well, I didn't ask you to use the shrinking arrow!"
"I didn't mean to!" She whined and looked back down at Dudley. "Wait, where is he?!" You looked back down and squatted, but you didn't see him either. "Quick check your shoes." She frantically looked at you. "I didn't step on him!"
"Check them!" She responded, checking hers. You rolled your eyes and checked.
"He's not here." You replied as you looked down the street. "Ummm.." The ponytail-wearing girl looked where you looked. Running under street lights was a rat that looked like it might be a little too big for its size. "You don't think-"
"No!" She quickly replied and turned her head. "I saved you. End of story." She waited for you to agree. "Okay. You saved me." You said as Kate pulled out her phone. "I'm reporting this. The police should be here soon." You didn't really hear here as your eyes traveled back to the rat. Further away. It's not smiling.. is it?
"Are you hurt?" You looked back at her. "Huh?" She smiled and took a step closer. "I asked if you were hurt. It looks like they didn't rough you up, but it's always nice to check." She smiled at you again, this time showing off her pearly whites. Fuck she's cute. Like really cute. Oh wait, it's now your turn to talk... "Fine, think, I am." You closed your eyes and let out a frustrated sigh, missing the lifesaver scrunching her nose as she laughed. "Sorry. I meant to say I think I am fine." You opened your eyes just in time to see her nod as her eyes looked you over.
Was she checking you out?
"Good." She replied with a nod, and she was about to say something else when: "You have pretty eyes." Excuse me?! Why did you say that?! What the fuck is wrong with you?!?
The archer seemed to be surprised by your statement and blushed. Hard! "Well, thank you. I must say, usually, people thank me or offer to buy me pizza, but this is nice, too." She laughed, breaking the nervous air you made happen. "I'm so sorry!" You groaned "Yes. Thank you for saving me, and I'm sorry for saying what I said. Not that it's not true. You do have pretty eyes. And your smile is great! Plus, I'm in love with your hair- But I didn't mean to say it aloud. It was just for me. But that doesn't mean-"
"Kate Bishop." She stopped you with two words while smiling. Holding out her hand. "What?" You questioned.
"Hi. I'm Kate Bishop. 23. I just saved your life, and this is our first time talking." She made a gesture to her extended hand. You sighed, relieved, and shook her slightly rough but still soft hand. "Thank you for saving my life, Kate Bishop. I'm Y/N Y/L/N. 25." Kate smiled as she felt your hand in hers. Soft. She thought.
"It was an honor to save such a beautiful lady with even prettier eyes," Kate said, making you blush, and a butterfly get pregnant in your stomach. "Do you flirt with all the people you save?" You questioned, still shaking her hand. Kate responded with a shake of the head. "First time."
"Then I am honored." You couldn't stop the smile that crawled onto your face as she dropped your hand. And neither could Kate watching you. "So, are you sure you're all good? No scratches or anything?" Kate asked, looking only into your eyes. "I'm all good. Now." You said.
"Do you live around here?" She asked. "Bold of you." Kate rolled her eyes. "I'm asking because I want to ensure you get home safely."
"Sureee." You said but lifted your hand and pointed to your building. "Right there." Kate looked at it and didn't like it, but not everyone could live in their mom's penthouse apartment after their own apartment was set on fire. "I'll walk you." Kate put a hand on your backside and started moving the two of you along. Passing the knocked-out guy on the sidewalk.
"Police should be here soon." She said when she saw you look at the guy.
"Okay." You replied as her hand rested now fully against you. This was nice, and your body couldn't help but remind you. Having someone care for you and touch you...
"Kate?" You asked as you were now getting closer to your place. "Do you do this often? The Vigilante thing?" Kate nodded immediately. "Practically all the time." She beamed. "I'm still new, but I was trained by Clint! You know Hawkeye!?" She enthusiastically proclaimed.
"Clint Barton trained you?!" You couldn't believe it. "Yep! Check it out!" She dropped your hand and pulled out her phone. On her Lock Screen was a picture of her and Clint with a golden retriever. "Oh my God! Holy shit! That's amazing!" A part of you wanted to say this was fake and that there's no way, but she did take out six guys and make it seem like fun, so you'd believe her regardless. Plus, she flirted with you. And checked you out!
"So, do you have a cool nickname? Wait, are you an Avenger?!" You stopped in front of your building and turned to Kate with all seriousness. "Are you?!" Kate did one of those yes/no faces. "Kind of. It's a grey area considering the Avengers aren't like a proper thing anymore, but yeah, I guess I am." She nodded and smiled. You smiled back. "That's so cool." You said.
Kate looked from your eyes to your lips and back to your eyes. You both noticed. "You know..." She cleared her throat. "I could send you some pics of Clint and me if you want?" She asked, knowing what the answer would be.
"Oh yeah?" You caught on. "Yeah.. and maybe then I'd have your number." Kate bit her bottom lip before you agreed. "Having the number of the person who saved my life would be important. You know, in case anything like this were to happen again." You spoke as Kate put her number into your phone before sending herself a text. "Well, I hope nothing like this happens again," Kate said, handing you your phone before she continued. "I mean, I would save you, of course, but I wouldn't want you to get hurt."
That warmed your heart in more ways than one.
So, with pink cheeks, you turned to look at your building. You were about to walk up the steps when you stopped yourself. "You know.." Kate looked at you with peaked interest. "The police haven't come by yet, and we both know how dangerous this area can be.." Kate lightly nodded. "Plus, I'm enjoying getting to know the archer who saved me. So maybe we should keep walking.. together."
Kate smiled at you and took your hand in hers. "I know a safer place we can walk to."
"Lead the way."
Kate smiled and started pulling you further away from your place just as cop cars went speeding by the two of you.
"Thank you." You spoke as the flashing blue and red lights became a dot. "For saving me and all that." You flustered. "It's no problem. I would've done it anyways, but it helps that you're pretty and..." Kate trails off in thought before her eyes widen. "Maybe tonight you'll get lucky."
That made you laugh in a mixture of shock and nervousness.
"What!?" You exclaimed as your cheeks went from pink to red. "What?" Kate looked at you as if she said nothing wrong. "What did you say?" You asked.
"I said maybe tonight you'll get to meet Lucky."
She most certainly did not.
Right?
"Lucky?!" You asked. Kate released your hand and pulled out her phone again, showing you the Lock Screen. She pointed with her thumb at the golden retriever. "Lucky." You nodded and retook her hand once the phone was put away.
"So we're going to your place?"
That made Kate blush and realize she would have to say something sooner rather than later.
"Well... yeah. It's way safer, and I figured we wouldn't want to stop talking anytime soon, so why not.." Kate sheepishly looked at you, but all she saw were joy-filled eyes. "I'd like that if I can make one request."
"Okay?" That made Kate nervous. "I want a kiss. Like in the movies. Cliche."
Kate squeezed your hand and stopped. Now that made you nervous. "I mean, unless I'm totally reading the signs wrong." You sputtered. "In which case. I'm joking. This was an attempt to wanting more from life, and it was a joke at the same time somehow, so please igno-"
Kate kissed you to shut you up and because the signs were right.
From the moment Kate ran up to you after shrinking that guy, she had never seen a girl more beautiful. And let's remember she fought the Black Widow's sister. Her not-so-subtle flirting, along with your flustering, had made Kate's stomach do flips.
So kissing you was the easiest decision she made all night. Well, that and saving your life.
When Kate's pink lips left yours, you knew you were never leaving New York.

(Gender Neutral Reader X Wanda Maximoff)
Be sure to read part one - No Powers. Post College AU
Summary: Years have passed since Wanda didn't reveal her feelings. What happens when you're about to get married?
Word Count: 3.5K
Wanda looks herself over in the mirror.
She smiles. She loves the dress you picked out. She loves the color and how it fits her body. She loves that you told her it took ages to find something so perfect.
Wanda runs her hands over it one more time. Here Wanda was. In her perfect dress because of you.
While you were in the room next door. In your perfect outfit. Because of someone else. For someone else.
Wanda's dress was maroon.
Your outfit was white. It was your wedding day, after all.
On the outside, Wanda was happy for you. On the inside, she was...
Since that day in your suite, Wanda had many opportunities to confess her love to you, but she never could. It felt wrong to do something that could disrupt your happiness, not even when your happiness had breaks of sadness when you and Natasha would have your off moments.
But those moments would be over quicker than Wanda could... well, then Wanda could say she loved you- Loves you.
Regardless. Right there through it all. Through the years. Wanda stuck with you. And now here Wanda was... four years later. Knocking on your door again. This time, to the room where you were getting your hair and makeup done at the venue. "That better not be who I think it is!" A voice loudly exclaimed. A voice Wanda knew to be your fun Aunt Agatha.
"It's not!" Wanda called out through her bandaged-up heart.
The door opened seconds later to see Agatha happy to see Wanda. "Oh, Wanda dear! My my! Look how beautiful you look!" Wanda shyly smiles at the compliments as Agatha takes her hand. Pulling her in and closing the door behind her. Your mother and the rest of your family get up to greet Wanda as Agatha shows her off.
But Wanda only wants to see you.
"Wanda, that dress looks so stunning on you! Much better on you than that Bishop girl. I swear getting her to wear a dress was like pulling teeth." Wanda politely smiled and laughed, knowing Kate's hatred of dresses. "Yes! Well, thank you! Y/N made a terrific choice." Wanda smiled.
"On the dress or that Natasha!" Agatha grips Wanda's arm and laughs like a mad woman. The joke clearly being the funniest to herself, but it gets some good laughs from everyone but Wanda.
When the laughter dies down, Wanda looks around the room, but she doesn't see you. "Where's Y/N-" just as she's about to finish asking, that's when you come out of the attached room.
You hadn't heard Wanda enter, but when your Aunt Agatha was guffawing for some reason, you knew you had to check. And to start counting her drinks.
"What's so fun-"
All eyes turned off of Wanda and onto you. Everyone in the room had already seen your outfit but one person. But now their green eyes were on you.
Only you.
But just as Wanda was memorizing the details. You looked back at her in the maroon dress you fought tooth and nail on. It had to be that dress! No matter what Kate or anyone else said about it. You knew it was Wanda's favorite color. Along with the cut. How it fit. Hell, even the designer. It had to be... it was for Wanda.
You smiled at her. She smiled back.
Your smile was genuine.
Wanda's never reached her eyes.
"Doesn't she look beautiful, Wanda?" Your mother asked with a proud smile. Wanda, still not removing her gaze from you, responded. "She's more than that."
You quickly panned your head down, missing a knowing look from Agatha, and started walking towards Wanda. To hide your cheeks and to greet your best friend. The crowd dispersed as Wanda's arms wrapped around you.
Wanda closed her eyes and gently inhaled. It's a little weird, but today, your smell was just like it was before Natasha. Back when Wanda would claim your hoodies before the rain washed it out. Before you became you and Natasha.
"Thank you for coming." Wanda heard you whisper into her ear. "Of course," Wanda answered like it was an easy choice. You'll never know how much she fought her own feet to get here.
"Why don't we let the girls mingle a bit? There's still time until we gotta force her down the aisle." Agatha's laughter burst through the room. "No, it's okay. I just came to stop by, say my congrats, and see you.." Wanda trailed off but smiled.
You went to speak, but your mom cut you off. "Well, let's take some pictures of the two of you before you get separated later tonight."
"Oh, how right you are." Wanda thought.
Wanda turned her body and put her arm around your back. Her soft right-hand landing on your hip. "Oh, I'm so happy I get to be here for this." Your mother kept babbling on and on about how beautiful you looked while taking picture after picture. About how pretty Wanda looks. And, of course, about how far the two of you have come as best friends.
"I still remember when Wanda picked you up for the first time after getting her driver's license. Oh lord, I thought I was going to have a heart attack."
You and everyone else laughed as you were leaning up against Wanda, who was sitting on the arm of the couch as your mother continued. "And, of course, the car was red!" She shook her head, and Wanda laughed harder, remembering how much she fought her parents to have that color.
You watched Wanda throw her back, laugh, and smile. It was the first natural, genuine smile of Wanda's in a while. You noticed.
A knock came at the door, signaling it was time for everyone to find their seats. Or, in Wanda's case, stand. She was the maid of honor, after all.
Everyone excitedly squealed and except one. She was going to be the first person to leave the room, but you stopped her. As she stood up, you grabbed her hand and held on tight. "Stay."
Wanda just looked at you as you moved your attention to everyone else. "Get your hugs in now before I'm too busy later!" You joked, smiled, and made it seem like you were on top of the world. Well, wishes, congrats, and, of course, hugs followed for a short time before, one by one, the closest people you considered family were out the door. Agatha and your mother were the last ones out. Leaving you only with Wanda, standing in the middle of the room.
Wanda turned to you.
"Aren't you going to ask me how I'm feeling?" You asked and swallowed as you shined a bright smile, making Wanda chuckle back. "How are you feeling, Y/N?" Wanda avoided eye contact and instead focused on your hands. Watching as your fingers twisted and held one another. "I probably know how you're feeling," Wanda said as she reached out and took your hands in hers—lifting her head to look at you.
"You're about to marry Natasha Romanoff. You're the luckiest woman in the world." Wanda's smile faltered, and you saw the water pooling in the corners of her eyes. But Wanda remained strong. And kept her focus on you.
She couldn't break now. She had chances before. College had come and gone. The years that followed as well. She couldn't say the words to you now. She couldn't.
But fuck. She wanted to.
"God..." Wanda spoke in a hushed tone. "You're so beautiful, Y/N." Wanda's eyes danced across your face. "Wanda..." You went to speak, but Wanda shook her head and removed her hands from yours. "Detka... I'm happy for you." Wanda admitted through a sniffle.
You took a step closer to Wanda and brushed your hands along her face. Careful not to mess up her makeup. "But what about you? Are you happy?" You finally asked the question that's been plaguing your mind for the longest time. You could never pinpoint the correct answer, but deep, deep down, you knew.
"If you're happy. I'm happy." Wanda answered. It might've been her most truthful answer.
You stared at Wanda as she stared back. From Wanda's watery eyes, you saw her flick her gaze from your eyes to your lips before she opened her mouth. "I should go."
You didn't want her to leave. Your feelings for Wanda have ebbed and flowed since that day in the suite, but you remained loyal to Natasha. You truly did love her, but never more than right now, in this moment, did you want Wanda.
But you couldn't. You can't.
You moved your body back and nodded. "Thank you for seeing me, Wanda. Time flies." Wanda nodded even though both of you weren't exactly sure of the true meaning behind that last sentence.
"Natasha's very lucky." Wanda looked at you before she turned around, heading towards the door. You smiled lightly as you turned and headed for the chair in front of the vanity. You heard the door open before: "Y/N?" You turned to look at Wanda, whose back was to you.
"Wanda?"
Wanda opened her mouth to say those three words but stopped herself. "I'm happy to have you in my life."
Just like that, the door was closed, and you collapsed into the chair. Your mind began racing and wondering about Wanda Maximoff.
On the other side of the door. Wanda broke. She moved a hand up to her eyes and cried. She kept her mouth shut, trying to stay muffled as the tears poured. She could feel the mascara run, and all Wanda could think about was how she was going to lose you.
Wanda's tears subsided minutes later when she remembered where she was. Wanda moved herself out from in front of your door and was going to go back to the room she got ready in to freshen up or leave altogether when Natasha came around the corner.
Wearing nothing but white and a smile.
"Hey, Wanda! Wow, you look stunning! Way better than-" That's when she noticed the tears and how quick Wanda's eyes were turning red. "Wanda? What's wrong?!" Natasha, on her wedding day, immediately puts her focus into someone else.
She turns Wanda's head to get a better look. "What's wrong?" Natasha asked again, but Wanda just shook her head. "Nothing." Wanda began to cover. "Just left Y/N, and... it's just.. happening!" Wanda spoke and looked at Natasha's eyes. "The big day!" Wanda put on a fake smile and wore it proudly. She cheered.
"Oh!" Wanda's explanation made Natasha smile. Ever since the first time Natasha met Wanda, it was like there was this wall between them. Natasha always tried her hardest and was always on her best behavior for the Sokovian. Wanda was your best friend, after all. So to see Wanda be so happy for you and Natasha. Today! That made Natasha ecstatic. "Thank you, Wanda!" Natasha carefully pulled Wanda into a hug, making sure no makeup left stains.
"Do you think they're a mess too?" Natasha joked to Wanda, who actually laughed. "No. I'm sure Y/N's fine." Wanda spoke with truth laced between those words. "I'm sure she's fine."
Natasha looked into Wanda's eyes and smiled again. "Thank you for being here. Now, don't worry about rushing outside. It looks like it might rain, and I kinda want to see the person I'm marrying." Natasha looked at Wanda sheepishly. "You know, since we're both non-traditional, I think we don't have to worry about anything." Wanda laughed because Natasha did.
"Well, you know where they are," Wanda spoke. "I'll go get cleaned up." Wanda looked at Natasha one last time. Natasha looked breathtaking to anyone else except her. Wanda excused herself and headed to the room she was in before she saw you.
Natasha watched Wanda disappear down the hall before she turned towards your door. With a few steps and a giant smile, she gingerly knocked on your door and creaked it open. "Y/N?" Natasha poked her head in and called out.
Stunned to hear your fiancées voice, you quickly grabbed tissues sitting on your vanity and began wiping under your eyes. "Shit." You whispered when it was clear on your face that you had been crying. But not normal tears. Tears for someone else. "Y/N?" Natasha called out when you didn't turn to the door. "You can look. It's okay, I promise." Natasha joked, but when you turned, her smile vanished. She quickly shut the door and ran to you. "Y/N babe, what's wrong?"' You shook your head.
A sense of dejavú washed over Natasha. Seeing you and Wanda within minutes apart with eyes full of sadness. "Talk to me." Natasha bent down in front of you. Taking your hands in hers. "Baby.." Natasha looked up to you. "I love you." You say to Natasha when your eyes meet her green ones. "I love you too." She replies so easily, but her smile back isn't quite the same. You sniffle as Natasha holds your hands tighter.
"It might rain.." Natasha starts as she pulls her hands out and starts cleaning your face. When you look up, she quickly wipes her own. "It's supposed to be good luck.. I think." Natasha smiles. "I thought we weren't believing in tradition and crazy theories?" You laugh. "One wouldn't hurt. Just one." Natasha says in a hushed tone.
"Just one." You repeat. "How bad is my face?" You ask in a teasing tone. "It's never been more beautiful." Nat skillfully answers, making you smile. "Now, let me touch it up before we get married." Natasha gets up and turns you around to face yourself. Natasha doesn't ask you why you're crying again.
You're happy.
You're happy...
"We shouldn't take too long." You say. "What are they gonna do, marry someone without us?" Nat smirks. "I mean, Kate and Yelena are here." You say, making Nat stop in her tracks. "Shit. Let's be quick." You both laugh.
"I love you."

Wanda looks up at the sky and watches as the white clouds make way for the darker ones. Metaphors huh. Wanda thinks today could be delayed if they wait any longer, but just as she looks down, she sees you. Hand in hand with your fiancée standing at the end of the aisle waiting for the music to start. Your eyes meet just as the music swells and everyone rises and turns. But your eyes remain locked, and Wanda smiles.
Wanda makes a deal with herself right then and there that she'll never speak a word of her feelings towards you. You're about to marry Natasha Romanoff.
Wanda wants nothing but the best for you.
You and Wanda miss the fact that Natasha sees how you two look at one another. Especially now. With a squeeze of your hand, you pull your eyes back to your right. To Natasha. "Ready?" She smiles at you. You nod, and together, you walk down the aisle.
Everyone watches with heart-shaped eyes and smiles, making the act of marriage all the more magical. When you both make it to the end, you each hand your respected bouquets to your respected people. Yelena for Natasha. Wanda for you. You look into Wanda's eyes when your fingers touch, but she looks away from you.
"Dearly beloved..." Natasha's friend Steve Rogers starts regaining your attention.
Natasha takes her hands in yours, but when you look at her, you find her looking where Wanda is looking. She follows her eyesight and finds Pietro giving her sister a sad look.
"Natasha?" You whisper to your fiancée, who has come to terms with the events that will follow.
"Y/N.." She whispers back while Steve keeps going. "I love you," Natasha says with tears in her eyes.
"This occasion marks the celebration of love and commitment with..." She pulls her hands from you.
"Steve, stop! I'm sorry! I'm sorry. Can we stop??!" His ramblings stop soon enough.
Natasha takes a step back and looks out to everyone who wears horrified looks. "I'm sorry..." Natasha turns to you and your surprised face. "Natasha.." Nat shakes her head. "I'm sorry. But I love you too much for this Y/N." She comes up to you and kisses your cheek. "I love you." Natasha has tears falling down her as she begins walking back up the aisle alone. The tears pull away at the mask she's been keeping up for years. She thought she was crazy at first, but she's not stupid. At the end of the day, your heart would always belong to someone else.
The rows of people stand up and watch your crying fiancée run away. You stand there stunned, and pretty soon, faces start to turn to you, looking for answers. Especially one scary Russian sister. "Go." You feel a push on your back. You turn to look at Wanda, who looks at you like you're crazy. "Go! Go after her!"
"Wan-"
"Go!" Wanda pushes you because of the promise she made. She wants you to go after the former redhead. "Please.." Wanda whispers, and it breaks your heart, but you go. You chase after Natasha as the sky opens up and the rain starts to fall.
"Natasha!" You yell out, unsure of which direction she went. "Natasha!" You try again as the rain is forcing people inside. You hedge your bets and hope she is in the room she got ready this morning.
Wanda watches along with half of the wedding party. You turn the corner, and Wanda decides that right now might be the best time.
Wanda Maximoff heads towards the exit.
"Natasha!" You throw open her door, a little out of breath from running and the oncoming panic attack. You see Natasha sitting on the couch in her room crying, yet she looks at you confused. "Y/N?"
"Hey, I'm here! I'm here." You run to her side and try to comfort her, but she pulls out from your touch. "What are you doing here?" Now it's your turn to look at your fiancée.. ex-fiancée (?), confused. "What do you mean? I'm chasing after my fiancée."
"Y/N..." Natasha gets up. She shakes her head and throws the veil off her frame. "You every right to do that, but don't..."
"Don't what?" Now you get up and watch Natasha. She stops and sighs. "Y/N... I may be your fiancée but.. but I'm not the one you love."
You don't answer, but your ex does it for the both of you. She swallows her tears and walks closer to you. "I'm not the one you love, and that's okay, Y/N. It is. I'm doing this for the both of us."
"Natasha-"
"Go!" She pushes you, making you stumble a bit. "I love you, so please go..."
You nod and begin to walk off but stop when you feel the weight on your ring finger. You look at it and think about the day you and Natasha proposed to each other. You did it because she did it.
You, with all the care in the world, pull it off and walk back to Natasha. "Whoever they are. The person you love after me will make you forget about this. They'll always be there for you. They'll make you stronger, and they'll patch up my mess. I- I did love you, Natasha. I did." It breaks your heart to see Natasha cry like this. You open her hand and place the ring in it. She closes her hand around it and nods. "Goodbye."
Just as you're about to head to the door, a furious blonde Russian begins banging on it, cursing in her native language. Thank goodness you thought to lock it so you could privately talk to Natasha. You look at the former bride, but all she does is point to the window. Knowingly, she'll have to deal with her family. And yours. You silently thank your mother for finding a one-story venue.
You run to the giant human-sized window as the rain pours down, causing cool air to blow into the room when you push them open.
The last time you saw Natasha was right before you jumped out the window. When you turned around just in time to see her taking her ring off.
Your shoes hit the wet grass below. The rain is doing it's best to block your vision, but you still spot Wanda's red car reversing out of a space.
You know it's now or never. So, just like in those romcoms you watched with Wanda all those years ago, you ran. You ran towards her. Towards her car as she kicked it into drive. Passing by all the families' and friends' cars who would sit idle for the next hour before they realized you weren't coming back.
Wanda stopped at the red sign, but due to the rain, she didn't see you running towards her. You were almost to her car when she pushed on the gas pedal again. Now she turned the car away from your direction. She was getting further and further away. Again... However, you pushed yourself. You kept running after her until your legs gave out, and you stumbled.
You lost your pace. You faltered, and when you looked up, her car was about to leave the lot. Turn signal on and everything.
But then she stopped.
The car stopped.
The driver-side door opened, and out Wanda stepped into the pouring rain. Through the water pouring down, you couldn't hear her yelling.
But Wanda started walking to you.
You got up and ran.
Stopping in front of Wanda, you could see the tears hidden by the rain. "What are you doing?!?" She yelled. Demanding an answer. But you looked at her with regret on your face. Regret for wasting time and years.
"I love you." You wrapped your arms around Wanda and held her close—face to face. "I've loved you for years, a-and I regret never doing anything about it—the amount of times I-I wanted to but couldn't. I'm sorry. Take my hand, please. I love you, Wanda Maximoff. I want to be yours."
Wanda didn't say anything as her green eyes look- "Kiss me."
You put your hands to Wanda's face and moved closer until your noses brushed past one another and your lips collided in the rain.
You and Wanda were everything each other dreamed of.
In time, you guys would talk about everything that other person didn't see from today. But right now, at this moment, nothing else was on your mind. Except how madly in love you were.

Wanda Maximoff wasn't sure when it happened, but one day, she started looking at rings a little bit differently.

Y/N POV
It's the day of the twin's birthday party, and Liz and I have finally made it to Ashley's after a grueling morning. On top of that, this moment has been a long time coming. It's been a few months since we've seen the two dirty blondes. They couldn't attend my birthday party last month since it was just a small get-together with the band, local friends, Max, Ivy, myself and Liz. And they were busy traveling for their brand all while having their actual birthday a few days prior.
Yeah, sure, we've had FaceTime calls and our group chat, but it just hasn't been the same. So anyway. Here we are.
At the twins (a month late) birthday get-together.
We made it.
"Y/n." Liz draws my attention towards her as she lifts her hand to pick up a hair from my face as we stand outside the door of Ashley's giant home in the city. "There we go. That's been bothering me since we left our new place." I can't help but laugh. "Why did you wait till now?"
Liz shrugs but hides a smile.
I roll my eyes. "You're lucky you're cute," I say, making Liz grip my arm tighter and pull her towards me as I stumble. "Oh, is that all I am?"
"Right now, you're being sexy, and it's unfair," I reply, but before Liz can rebut, the door opens, revealing Mary-Kate on the other side. In an instant, Liz removes her arm from me and hugs her shorter sister. "Oh, Lizzie!" Mary-Kate shouts as she accepts the loving hug.
I can't help but smile as I watch the two.
"Oh my goodness, I love this dress." MK unwraps herself from my girlfriend as she moves her hands down the dress. "Dôen?" Mary-Kate guesses correctly, making myself and Liz shocked. "How do you know that?!" Liz stamps her foot like a child, making me laugh. "I was hoping this would stump you."
Mary-Kate raises her eyebrows and hums. "It's my job, Lizzie." MK moves her attention to me. "Y/n!" She cheers and makes a big show of it just to get under Liz's skin. And it works. "She's wearing my clothes, so you probably already know it all."
Mary-Kate looks over my fit, and she notices every article of clothing. But before commenting on it, she turns to her sister. "You know you already have her, so you don't need to loudly claim your territory." Liz shrugs and crosses her arms as Mary-Kats turns back to me. Her hands still hot on my arms.
"I must say you have good taste." MK looks up to my eyes and winks, forcing Liz to step between us. "Okay!" I shake my head at Mary-Kate's teasing as she tries to stop Liz from pulling me away. "Lizzie, stop. I was joking. Come on." Liz looks back and sighs. "Okay, you're right."
"I know I am." MK smirks. "Aren't you going for therapy for your jealousy issues?"
She was.
Liz glared at her sister, who had taken the hint. "Right. Okay. Let's see... Sparrow Top from Dôen. Again." Mary Kate hummed. "Jesse Kamm pants. Oh wow!" MK squats in her jeans and white wavy blouse to look closer at my (Liz's) brown leather shoes. "Manolo Blahnik. They look great!" Mary-Kate says as she looks up to Liz. "I know," Liz says before breaking out into a smile.
MK huffs as she rises. "Regardless, you both look great!"
Liz and I compliment Mary-Kate and refuse to guess where her clothes are from before leaving the entryway.
That'd be impossible.
We find Ashley amid a phone call to her boyfriend, Louis. A sweet guy I've only met a handful of times. One of those being Thanksgiving! Apparently, he couldn't make it to the birthday dinner tonight. He left early this morning on a business trip.
At least, this is all according to what Mary-Kate was mouthing to Liz and me while Ash wrapped up her call.
"Love you too! Bye!" Ashley flipped her phone down with her left hand and ran like an excited kid to her younger sister. "You're here!" She said as she squeezed Liz. "Oh, Lizzie! It's been too long! I'm growing sentimental in my old age."
"Hey!" Mary-Kate loudly whined to Ashley's words. "We're not old!" Ashely ignored her as she moved her eyes to me. "Y/n!" Just as quick I'm being wrapped up in a hug. I missed this. "Hi, Ash!" I say with a chuckle.
"Okay, that you don't have a problem with, but I look at Y/n a little too long, and I get the glare?" Mary-Kate whines to Liz who rolls her eyes. "Mary-Kate, let's not dwell on things," Ashley says as she laughs at Liz, who is already grabbing wine and glasses for the three of us. And a water for MK.
Thoughtful even when she's annoyed by her sister.
Ashley walks around the spacious kitchen to help pour the wine into the glasses, and Mary-Kate focuses on grabbing some snacks for tonight's events. Speaking of...
"So when is everyone else getting here?" Liz asks as if she could read my mind. I mean, the four of us aren't necessarily a party. It could be, but it isn't.
"Well, Ruby is on her way. She had to take care of some personal things first." I smile at hearing those words. Mary-Kate is still seeing her former assistant and now full-time girlfriend, Ruby.
As far as I know, she still works for the Row but has had to be relocated to a different department. I remember Mary-Kate complaining about the unfairness of it because she was the boss. Ashley just laughed.
"Courtney might swing by!" Ash says as she picks up her phone. "Might?" Liz curiously asks. Mary-Kate takes this one. "She and Vanessa just flew into the city last night. Then I think tomorrow morning they're going to Wyoming. No, that's not right..." Mary-Kate slowly stops as her thoughts consume her. Liz stands by, confused. I mean, I am, too, because last we heard, Court was about to land an audition for an undisclosed streaming show.
"What about the show?" Liz asks as she looks from one sister to the other. Mary-Kate sees the look. "Oh, she didn't get it..." MK says with a frown before tilting her head at Liz and myself. "She didn't tell you?" Liz and I look at one another and shake our heads.
Ashley looks to me. "Aren't you and her like besties?"
I wouldn't say besties, but I have a close friendship with Courtney. She reminds me a lot of Max most of the time, which may be why Court feels like a friend I've had for a while. Not just Liz's sister.
But why didn't she say anything?
"No." Liz and I both say, earning a look from the twins. "Are we missing something?" I ask. "Well, it happened weeks ago." I slowly nod. "And the exact words are lost on me now, but..." Ashely trails off. "It's like the first couple of times you tried out for parts, Lizzie," Mary-Kate concludes. My attention turns from one sister to the other as Liz closes her eyes and sighs.
"They're comparing her to me," Liz says quietly with a heartbroken expression. My mouth drops, seeing the beaten look on her face. I quickly move to be by her side. Ashley looked just as hurt. "Well, I see why she didn't tell us," Liz says to the room, but I still nod to her words.
"You know it's not your fault." Mary-Kate immediately speaks up to let Liz know that she indeed had nothing to do with this. "But it's still unfair," Liz says back, making the twins nod.
I slowly rub my arm up and down Liz's back. Liz sighs. I can see she's already thinking about how to talk to Courtney about this.
"Is there anything I can do?" Liz offers. Ashley looks to her twin for an answer.
"Maybe stop being so good?" Mary-Kate cautiously says, hoping to break the mood. I chuckle, and Liz follows on her own. It's small, but it happens. "You're clearly going to win an Oscar one day."
"That's what I keep saying!" I pipe up, earning a smile from MK and an eye roll from Liz. "Guys, be serious."
"Even if it is true?" Ash asks as her eyebrow raises. Liz sighs again before finding herself a spot to sit. Mary-Kate watches as Ash follows their sister. Sitting next to her at the kitchen island. "Lizzie." Ash grabs her sister's hand with her right one and squeezes it. "It's not your fault, and as much as it sucks, Courtney is going to have to power through like you did."
"But I don't want her to do that."
"That's because she's your sister, and you love her." Ash smiles at Liz, who nods and smiles back. "Maybe you can talk to her about it later." Liz nods again and lowly laughs as she speaks. "You sounded a lot like mom just now."
Ash goes wide-eyed and pulls her arms very comedically away from Liz. "I am not ready to be a mother!"
Cut to: The Halloween party later this year when Ash tells us she pregnant while I'm dressed up like a vampire with fake teeth and a horrible Transylvanian accent and everything. All the while, Liz was dressed as "Red Head Black Latex Hero," according to the Halloween store Liz went to three weeks before this.
"Well, I'm not having kids," Mary-Kate says before I see her pull out her phone and look at it. Her face looks up from her phone to Liz and back down before she hits the button on the side and puts it down.
Ignoring whoever was calling.
Liz laughs as her sister as she lets her back rest against the seat. I look at MK with a "who was that" look once she faces me. "Dad." MK mouths and turns her head as a way to end the conversation.
A flat smile forms on my face.
Liz still has yet to talk to her father since Thanksgiving. I've already moved on from that day, but my girlfriend hasn't. I don't blame her, and I can try to convince her to talk to her father all day long, but at the end of the day, it's Liz's decision.
One myself, her sisters, and the rest of the family have all come to terms with.
I tune back into the conversation as the Olsens pick up their wine glasses and water. "Come on." Liz laughs as she stands in front of me. "We're moving to the living room." She laughs as she grabs my hand and pulls me. "What were you thinking about?" Liz asks. You take a beat to answer. "Your father called Mary-Kate." Liz stops in her tracks. "How do you know?"
"I watched her ignore it." I look at her green eyes as they wobble slightly. "And she told me."
"You know I agree with whatever you decide now or in the future, but have you thought about talking to him recently?"
Liz and I are stopped in the glorious living room entryway. Ashley and MK noticed a while ago and have done their best "we're not eavesdropping" expression.
But they aren't precisely acting it out very well.
"I have," Liz admits before sighing and seeing her sisters out of the corner of her eye. "We can talk about it later." She whispers, and I nod and agree. Whatever she's comfortable with.
"Okay, stop being weird, you two, and don't bring it up," Liz says nervously as she sets her wine glass down and sits on a loveseat before patting the cushion for me to join her.
A thing I happily do!
The twins agree, but when Liz doesn't notice, they have a silent conversation with themselves.
Twins do be weird like that.
Anyways!
"Oh right, so who else is coming!?" Liz asks once the conversation has shifted from not talking about David Olsen to talking about Liz's garden, my album, Geneva, a little bit of baseball, my continuous lack of my own vehicle, and finally coming back around to Liz's acting skills and the lack of future projects.
Little Miss Not A Lot Going On Right Now.
I've seen the scripts on her desk and email.
"So Courtney and Ness maybe, Ruby, Chelsea, Juliet, Lana, and some other friends.
"She means models," Mary-Kate speaks openly as Ashley gives her an annoyed glare. "And you're sure you just want something small?" Liz is perfectly normal doing a small birthday but she knows that MK and Ash usually like to do something a little more extravagant.
Ash nodded. "I'm more than fine with it. I have things planned, too." She says before she picks up her glass and takes a sip as she again looks at Mary-Kate.
I hum to myself quietly, as this isn't the first time I've noticed them eyeing one another.
But a second later, I almost choked on my white wine.
Did I forget?
Did Liz tell me?
She's not freaking out about it...
One by one, these thoughts fly by as I pull my eyes up from the giant rock on Ashley's left hand.
She's engaged??
How did I miss that earlier??
The doorbell to the townhouse rings, making the twins rise and squeal as Ash looks at the security camera on her phone. "It's Ruby!" Mary-Kate is racing to the front door in a flash.
Liz smiles and adores seeing her older sister love and be loved.
Meanwhile, I'm struggling to consider whether I was told about Ash and the acknowledgment of marriage.
Liz rises from the loveseat to get ready to greet Ruby once they come back before I grab her hand. "Liz?" I say, making the sweet dark blonde eye me. "What's up?"
I open and close my mouth. "Di-did- okay, I know I've been working a lot on the album, and so many days I'm like exhausted, but did... did you tell me that Ash got engaged and I just forgot?" Liz's concerned look turns into one confusion. "What?" She asks before I end up following her into the foyer.
Liz interrupts everyone's greeting as she grabs Ashley's left hand and lifts it to her face. "Oh my gosh!!" Liz drops the hand and jumps up and down before hugging her sister. "Took you long enough!" Mary-Kate loudly says as Ruby slaps her girlfriend's arm lightly. "Babe!"
"When did this happen, and why didn't you tell me?!"
I give a quick hello to Ruby as Ash folds due to the integration process she's become a part of.
"It happened last night." Liz covers her mouth in shock at Ashely's words. "We went out to dinner, walked the park, came home, did our nightly routine, and then as we were laying in bed, he got up and was gone for about three minutes before he came back into the room with the box. He was going to propose over dinner but had gotten so nervous before we left that he switched his jacket with the ring inside of it and didn't realize until we had already left."
Ash looked at her hand with a smile. "Apparently, he had planned to propose so many times the weeks prior."
Liz didn't say anything else but wrapped her older sister up into a hug. She was elated for her. "Oh my gosh!"
"Looks like you're next," MK says as she bumps my shoulder.
Oh, don't worry, Mary-Kate, I'm like three steps ahead of you.
"Honey, stop!" Ruby softly hits MK again before dragging the one twin to the kitchen for tea. "Congrats, Ashley!" I say once I'm allowed to hug the older Olsen. "You know this means you'll be singing at our wedding."
I smile and laugh. "Of course. I assume it pays well?" Now, it's my turn for my partner to slap me and tell me to stop. "We'll plan around your tour." Ashley smiles brightly. "Speaking of, have you heard when it will start?"
I shake my head. "December is the rumor if the album sells well immediately. The label is kind of taking a risk on me, so they want to push me as quickly as they can. Hoping everything will work out, and who knows, maybe it'll be pushed to spring." I shrug.
A few weeks from now, after the album's first week sales came back, a tour was announced to start in January.
"December can work," Ash says with a sly smile. "No!" Liz says with shock and excitement. "That's what we're doing tonight!?"
It finally clicked for Liz and I.
The "party" tonight is to help plan Ashley's wedding.
Before she goes to a professional, of course.
"Oh, and don't worry!" MK says as she and Ruby return. "Ashley and I know someplace where we can get a custom wedding dress."
Ash groans at the joke.
But I don't think I could survive if the wedding dress is anything like the one Liz wore the night she won the Emmy for WandaVision.
It's not sometimes my lock screen for no reason. (Other than the fact I'm not allowed to have Natasha Romanoff anymore.)
As time moves by, more guests slowly start to arrive and cry out in excitement once Ash flashes the ring. The later into the evening it got until Courtney and her girlfriend Ness showed up.
Courtney almost practically pushed Ashley over from the happiness coursing through her.
Liz kept her eyes on Court as she slowly walked through the crowds of people looking at hundreds of wedding mockups. "Hey, Courtney!" Liz said as she found her sister, who glanced at us. "Oh, Lizzie!" Courtney looked ecstatic to see Liz. So either she indeed was or was actually a better actress than Hollywood knew.
"Y/n!" She said as she wrapped her arms around me and pulled me close. "It's been a minute!"
"It has!" I reply. "I've just been busy," I add on, making Courtney nod. "Me too."
"Yeah, how are auditions going!?" My girlfriend asks with no sense of slickness. Ness arrived at my side and gave a little wave as we watched the sisters interact. "They told you, didn't they?" Court says back with a sigh.
Liz's face forms a frown. "I'm sorry..." Court shakes her head. "It's not your fault."
Liz hesitates before speaking.
"But is there anything I can do?" Courtney shakes her head again. "No. I've made peace with it after crying and screaming about it." Court gives a nervous chuckle. "Plus, I still want it to be done my own way, so you doing nothing is actually beneficial."
I peek over at Liz, and I can tell she hates the idea of doing nothing. She wants to help. Call up who she can, but even she knows that the more Courtney does without her interference, the more successful she'll be.
"Okay," Liz says, defeated, before Courtney moves in to make her big sister feel better. "I'm still going to auditions, but I think maybe directing and producing might be my avenue."
A lightbulb goes off above me.
"Excuse me," I say to Ness as I move past her to the kitchen and to the backyard. A firepit, ivy, and an outdoor set that probably cost more than the car I'm looking to buy sits in the back.
"Hello?" My man of manager Bo says into the phone. "Hey, I think I might've found someone to direct the music video for Always, Joni."
"Great!" Bo replies, "Send their information over!"
"Okay, will do!" I breathe out a sigh of relief. "By the way, it's Liz's half-sister. Okay, bye!" I close the phone before Bo can make a huff about anything.
That man worries too much.
I mean, I did already have a stalker before my career even started, so I guess that's something.
"Hey!" Liz says, making me turn around on my heels. "I was wondering where you went off to." Liz looks behind her before returning to me and pulling my face closer until we kiss. I place my phone in my pocket and pull her body into mine as one kiss turns into two, three, and more. "I love you," Liz says once she pulls back. Her green eyes shooting mine.
"I love you too," I say as I move her bangs around before Liz shakes her head with a laugh. "Oh my gosh, stop!"
I stop and place my arms around her once more as we slowly move from side to side in Ashely's backyard. The orange sky becomes darker as the summer sun moves further away. "I can't believe she's engaged." I hum back. "And she wants the wedding to be in December."
My mind places a question in my head as I kiss the top of Liz's noggin.
"What?" Liz says as she looks to me. "What?" I reply, but Liz smiles. "You want to ask me something."
She can see right through me.
"I was just wondering... when maybe you would want to get married..." I close my mouth and look at my incredible girlfriend.
"Y/n..?" Liz asks as she tilts her head. Her smile never faltering. "I'm just wondering, not asking," I say, only to earn a nod. "Okay. We do this a lot." Liz giggles. "The I'm asking you about marriage but I'm not proposing thing."
"Well, nothing about us is ever easy or normal, so why should this."
"Some things are normal," Lizzie replies, and I only roll my eyes until I ask again. "So, thoughts?"
Liz is quiet for a minute, and I let her process her thoughts.
"Honestly, I don't have any. Getting married in the summer or winter. The wedding could be big or small. In the backyard or on a beach. As long as it's to you, I'm happy."
I wasn't expecting those words to hit me as much as they did, but I quickly find water filling my eyes. "Oh, baby!" Liz moves her hands from my back and shoulder to my face to wipe a fallen tear. "Fuck I think I'm starting my period soon."
Liz shakes her head. "I love you."
"I love you too, Elizabeth Olsen."
"Gross! Come on, guys, we're arguing over the wedding cake!" Mary-Kate's booming and disgusted voice makes us jump and cower before she's gone as she yells, "Found them, they were kissing!"
Liz's head falls into my chest. "You're not performing at her wedding." I can't help but laugh as Liz and I walk back into the house hand in hand.
The question won't be soon, but the custom ring I am waiting to pick up looks promising every day.

Scarlett POV
"What are you laughing about?"
I look up from my phone to see Colin holding our baby boy, Cosmo.
"Lizzie and Y/N at the premiere." I look down at my phone and miss the confused look Colin has on his face. "You're laughing at our friends?"
He walks into my home office and looks over my shoulder as Cosmo babbles. "Look." I hold my phone up to him to show him a series of tweets about Y/N's phone wallpaper.
"No way!" Colin says in disbelief.
I nod and snicker as I look at a few more tweets before turning my phone over.
"So what's up?" I turn in my chair and look at my husband and son. The latter giggles as I poke his tummy.
"Not much," Colin says. "Coz and I were just missing Mom." He looks down at our son in his arms. "Isn't that right, buddy?"
Cosmo just smiles.
"Well, Mom is right here!" I blow a kiss to Colin and Cosmo. "But Mom is busy. She has to get ready for a meeting!"
"With Kate?" Colin asks, earning a nod. "With our Sephora launch and starter kit, it's just a lot of expanding."
Colin begins to walk to the office door. Humming to Cosmo. "I shouldn't be too much longer!" I say only to revive a laugh. "Scar, it's fine. Take as long as you want. I was coming to hang out and to remind you that Jess Parker is coming over tonight."
I freeze in my tracks and look away from my open laptop.
"No, Liz and Y/N are coming over tonight..."
Colin tilts his head. But he has a look that I hate to see.
He might be right.
"Are you sure?" Colin asks. I nod. "Here, I'll call Lizzie." I grab my phone and find Lizzie's contact. I place her on speaker and wait as the sound of ringing fills the room.
I look up, and Colin looks from his phone. He's texting someone.
Jess. He mouths.
"Oh, Hey, Scarlett!" I hear Lizzie's voice, and just by the tone, I can tell she's smiling.
"Hey, Lizzie! How are you and the rockstar!? Did you see the news??" I smirk and swivel in my chair.
"Yeah, no, I saw Y/N's wallpaper."
I laugh. Y/N's totally gonna get it later from me and Lizzie.
Wait, that sounded dirty.. but I mean... have you seen those two?
"Hey, so sorry to call right after your premiere, but I was just wondering if you and Y/N were still on for dinner?"
"Yeah, of course, we're still on for dinner! Why did something come up?"
I look up to Colin. "Umm.." He flips the phone to face me, and I see a text exchange between him and my friend Jess. With the words: "Yep, I'll be there!"
"Shit," I say. "Shit?" Lizzie repeats back. "No! No.. Sorry! I- I double booked."
"Huh?" Lizzie says, making me quietly laugh. "I double booked dinner tonight with you and Y/N and my friend Jess Parker."
The other side of the line goes quiet.
"Jess Parker? The Jewelry maker? She's your friend?" Y/N speaks up for the first time all call.
"Yes?" I answer, unsure of where this is going, but I quickly find out when Lizzie brings the phone closer to her mouth.
"Scarlett Ingrid Johansson, do you mean to tell me you are friends with Jess Parker, and this has never come up? Not once? You've never once thought to introduce her to her very fashionable friend! Someone who walks the red carpet with you!"
"And me!" Y/N pipes up again.
I gulp. It's clear I've made a mistake.
I look up to Colin only to find him gone. The door to my office closed.
"I- uhhh..."
Before I can even say or think of any words to say, it's like in a blink of an eye, somehow I've time traveled, and I'm in a long sundress while I carry Cosmo to answer the front door for our first guest of the evening.
My long-time friend Jess Parker.
In a way, she's been like a sister to me. Sorry, Vanessa. But we've always been close. Not many people know that the reason I took the role in The Nanny Diaries was because of her.
And while living across the pound for some odd years, she has always been a sound support system. But now that she's back in New York after a long 18 months, it'll be nice to catch up. Oh, and to warn her that she's famous no matter how little she believes me.
I mean, Lizzie and Y/N want a piece of her work, apparently.
Oh shit, that means I have to warn Jess about them coming over too.
But before I can say anything, I'm pulled into a side hug by Jess just before she scoops up Cosmo from me. For a baby who normally screams his head off when someone new takes him, he remains quiet.
"You look so good!" Jess says as she takes her shoes off and looks back at me. Her English accent still on her tongue.
"You too!" I easily reply as I look her up and down. "Love the top!" Jess gives a little shake of her head that says, "eh."
She never was the best about compliments. Her and Lizzie are the same that way.
"So Scar, do you wanna tell me why you were trending earlier?"
Liz POV
Y/N and I are about to arrive in front of Scarlett's when Y/N looks up from her phone with a smile. "What's up?" I ask.
"I just can't believe it's almost here."
I can see on Y/N's phone that she just read an email from her label, which probably led to Y/N thinking about her livestream tomorrow night.
"Is the studio set up?" I question her about the set up the label put together for Y/N. Basically, the idea for the cover of the album started when Y/N had a dream about her and I on a beach flipping tarot cards.
Hence the original name of the album: tarot cards on the beach.
She described it as the most nerve-racking dream she has ever had, and I'm still unsure why.
But when she woke me up to tell me about it. I remember being cranky in the moment but ultimately happy for her.
Duh.
She then immediately got into contact with her old friend Cyrus and had the label commission a giant canvas of what the album would look like. It's going to be revealed live for the first time at midnight tomorrow, followed by Y/N sharing the tracklist.
I can only imagine her smiley, cute face when she sees the finished product.
Y/N nods. "Yeah, that's what the email was about. They have everything ready to go."
"Even the cards and CD's?" I raise an eyebrow. "Even the cards and CD's." She states.
Following the tracklist reveal, the studio wants Y/N, aka hex, to autograph specially made tarot cards that will go into the CDs for the first 500 people that preorder.
I promised to massage her hands for as long as she wanted after it was done.
"What?" Y/N asks, making me realize that I've been staring at her face. Her perfect face. "Do I have something on my face? Because I know you told me not to snack at the hotel, but I still did it."
I laugh and pretend to wipe crumbs off her lips before leaning in and kissing her.
"You're perfect."
"You're still cheesy." She says. "Learned it from you," I reply and look down at her outfit.
Since it's dinner with Scar, we didn't decide to go clits to wall decked out like we would if it was the twins. We know Scar and Colin are busy with baby Coz, so the fewer clothes that could get messy, the better.
Wait- basically, what I'm saying is that we're just going as cute casual! I'm in brown boots, jeans, and a long black sleeve, while Y/N is wearing wide-ankle khakis, her vans, and a long maroon button-up.
I wasn't sure about the outfit, but she picked it out, and knowing Y/N, she'll be trying to color with Rose anyways, so who cares.
"I like what you're wearing." I look back up to Y/N's eyes and slowly lean in. She does the same until our lips touch again.
"I think the label will push for an August release," Y/N says as she leans her head on my shoulder. "It's still summer, but I was expecting July."
"August is still good, right?" I ask, unsure of what Y/N really wants. "It is." She says. "I think I'm just ready to start some shows because every time I think about performing, I wanna throw up."
That's right.
She's going to be on the road sooner rather than later.
"Well, I'll be there with you," I say and hold her close. But Y/N chuckles, confusing me. "What?" She leans up and fiddles with the ring on her right hand. "I know you'll be there, and I love that, but I know you, and I don't want you to put off filming for me."
I look at her as if she doesn't see through me.
"What do you mean?" I look away from her eyes and clear my throat. "Liz..." She sighs. "I know about Azazel reaching out to you." I found her eyes, and they light up. "We both know I will probably be on the road if people want me to be. So please take any offer that comes your way. I'm mar- I'm in love with Elizabeth Olsen, the greatest Emmy-winning actress of our generation. Not Elizabeth Olsen, the-"
"Y/N." I stop her. "I get it." She leans in and kisses my nose, making me giggle. "Thank you." She says.
The car rolls to a stop in front of Scarlett's, and before Y/N moves away from me, I thank her for always being supportive and caring.
She said, "No, you." before jumping out of the car while laughing.
Y/N POV
"Oh shoot. Should we have brought wine or chocolates or anything?" I turn to Liz just after ringing the doorbell. She looks back at me with a look that says yes.
Shit.
"We should go." I turn my heels to walk away, but Liz grabs my arm and spins me around. "I think it's too late for that." We both know that, but it's not confirmed until the door swings open, and instead of a short blonde greeting us, it's an even shorter blonde.
"Auntie Lizzie!" Rose runs and jumps out of the doorway to Liz's legs with arms outstretched but stops when she sees me. "Auntie Y/N!" She squeals, making me smile.
Her and I are entirely different with one another since our first meeting.
But just like that, Lizzies runs as favorite aunt ends. I see the defeat on her face as the scorned look in her eyes washes over mini Scarlett and I, but- wait, what did Rosie say?
"Huh, Rose?" I ask as I bend down the child by my side. "I said you have to meet my favorite Auntie ever, JP!"
I look at Liz, who looks back to me. Who the hell is JP??
"Rose!" All three of our attentions turn to Mama Bear Scar as she steps out of the house to take Rosebud from me and place her on the ground. "How many times have I told you not to open the door?"
Rose hangs her head. Clearly, knowing that she shouldn't open the door without an adult present. "But I know it was Auntie Lizzie and Y/N." Rose cries.
Scarlett gets onto her knees in front of her daughter. "Rosie, look at me." Rose turns her head to look at her mother. Liz and I watching this interaction like statues. "I know that you know it was them. And that, yes, they are safe people, but still, it is better to be safe than sorry. I'd hate for anything to happen to you." Rose nods. "I love you." Scarlett pulls her daughter close and smiles when a smaller, quieter "I love you too." happens.
Rose pulls out of the hug and looks at her mom. "Can I hang out with Auntie Liz and Y/N?" She asks, earning a nod from Scarlett. "Yes, you can."
And just like that, I have Rose by my side as she points at every little thing in the hallway as if I've never been here before.
"Is that a chatterbox I hear?" Another woman's voice surprises Liz and me as we enter the kitchen. As soon as our eyes see the person, we immediately remember. "Auntie JP! Look, I brought friends!" Rose smiles proudly and makes a grand gesture with her arms.
"I see that!" Auntie JP, aka Jess Parker, says as she comes up and makes a goofy face at Rosie before turning to Liz and I. "Hi!" She says as she extends her hands to Liz first. "It's nice to meet you finally." Jess smiles widely at Liz as Liz returns the greeting.
Rose watches the interaction with glee as Jess turns to me. "You must be Y/N." She extends her hand to me as well before leaning closer to whisper: "Scarlett, let it slip that you have a huge crush on her."
Immediately, I groan and turn around to the older woman, but she puts her hands up. "Hey, look at Twitter and tell me what's true!" I roll my eyes away to see Colin laughing as he fixes Liz a drink. "Yeah, yeah, keep laughing, Jost."
I narrow my eyes before Rose grabs onto Jess and I. "I want to show you my new coloring book! It's in my room!" Liz turns her head at this. "Can I come, Rose?" Rose thinks before walking away. "No, thank you."
As comedic as Rosie is, I see Liz's face falls. So, instead of having Rose pull Jess and me away, I crouch down to her. "Hey, Rosie, how about you go grab all your art supplies and books, and we can color them at the table before we have to get ready for dinner. How does that sound?"
Rose thinks and agrees before pouting a little. "Can you see my room later, too? I got some of new toys of momma."
Jess crouches next to me and nods to encourage Rose. "That sounds great." Rose nods and runs to grab her things.
"Drink?" Colin asks as I turn around. "Yes, please," I say as I stand by my girlfriend sitting at the kitchen island. "Damn, I can't believe I'm old news now." Liz jokes as Scarlett brings in baby Cosmo. "I doubt that," I say as I kiss the top of her head. Liz shrugs. "You and Jess seem to have it pretty covered."
From the tone, I can tell there's more under the surface.
But before anything can spill from my mouth, Scarlett hands me a babbling baby boy. "Carefully, he's rigged to blow any minute." I grimace but hold Cosmo steady. "Gee, thanks." Scarlett winks at me. "Want me to talk to her?" Scarlett asks Liz in regards to Rosie. Liz lightly laughs and shakes her head. "She's a kid. She's fine."
Scarlett gives a flat smile as Colin places a drink before me and Jess across the island.
"Be honest..." Scarlett starts. "How many pictures of Natasha do you have on your phone?"
I sigh. "I don't know. Enough to have a folder..." I shrug. This only makes Scarlett smile wider. "Can I see?" She wiggles her eyebrows. "I'd die before I let that happen."
Scarlett looks me up and down. "Put me in a red wig, and I think you would."
I look around the room and see no help on the defense. My girlfriend sips her drink, knowing that she'd rather sit with jealously than engage in between Scarlett and I.
"So Lizzie..." Jess speaks up. "You had a movie premiere today, and now you're here? Slumming it with us? What's up with that?" Scarlett watches her friend tease effortlessly with a smile, and as my girlfriend answers, I watch Scarlett's eyes shift from one friend to the other.
I had no idea Scarlett even knew of Jess Parker, but looking at them side by side, I can see a similarity between them.
I tune into the conversation just as Liz speaks my mind. "Well, what about you, Miss Jess Parker! Word has it closed up shop, but after eighteen months, you're here slumming it with us! I had no idea Scarlett, and you were so close! I mean, I know you designed the Infinity Gauntlet piece Scar wore at the Endgame premiere, but..." I chime in. "We could've used your jewelry on the red carpet earlier this week."
"And tonight!" Scarlett makes a point.
Jess smiles and takes a sip of her Moscow mule. "Basically, I missed home."
"New York?" I question. Jess nods. "I was overseas with my Dad and stepmom, taking time off to find myself." Scarlett pipes up as she wraps an arm around Jess. "A horrible ex who never have to speak about ever again." Jess nods and gags. "The worst. But yes, now I'm back home. Close to Scar again-"
"I'm sorry." I interrupt. "How long have you and Scarlett known each other?"
Scarlett takes the question.
"We grew up together." This information shocks Liz and I, but my mouth works faster than I can stop the words. "Cool. And you never meant to mention this??"
"Babe-" Liz tries to stop me while laughing. "Liz, we could've been wearing Jess Parker this entire time! Do you know how hot you would've looked with a Scarlet Witch Crown!"
I shake my head to make my thoughts pure again.
Everyone laughs, including Cosmo, as he spits up disgusting me just as Rose enters the room, pretending to laugh like she knew what was going on. "Got 'em!" She says as she holds up her supplies and books.
"That's great, Rose! We'll meet you at the table." Rose happily turns to the table at Jess' words as Scarlett takes her baby from me.
"Well, rumor has it the shop might be open again." Jess makes a face to Liz and I as she sips on her drink with a grin before joining Rose.
"Oh, she's fun!" Liz says as she turns back to Scar and Colin. "Fun, huh?" I'm quickly met with a green-eyed glare. "Noted," I say as I take my drink to color with Rose and Jess.
"Wow, Rose!" I say as she is coloring a picture of The Black Widow. Jess coloring in Hawkeye. "I didn't know you had an Avengers book!" Rose looks up at me with an are you serious look. "Yeah." She says before handing me a page. "You can do this one."
It's a picture of The Scarlet Witch.
"I tried asking for it, but she wanted you to color it so you could give it to Aunt Lizzie," Jess says with a smile while also doing a pretty good impression of Rose that the child ignores. I look up at her and laugh.
"Thank you, Rose." I turn to the small blonde. "No problem." She replies.
"Hey, Rosie?" I say as I pick up a red colored pencil. "Yeah?" She looks at me. "I can do this picture, but I think Aunt Lizzie would really appreciate it if you made something for her that was an original piece."
Rose looks away as she thinks before grabbing a blank piece of paper. Paper that looks like she easily took it from a copier somewhere in this house. "Like flowers? She's pretty like flowers."
"Yeah. That's a good idea, Rose."
Pretty like flowers.
I immediately store that line in my head for another day.
As Rose gets to work on a 2-D paper bouquet for my girlfriend, I look up and see Liz fully engaged in a conversation about whatever Colin is talking about.
My eyes travel down her face to her hands.
"Hey, Jess?" I whisper before looking her way. "Yeah?" She whispers back with a smile. "Could I have your number?" Jess widens her eyes a bit before looking in the direction of the other adults. "That's kinda bold of you, don't ya think?"
I give her a confused look before hearing my own words. "Oh my god, no." I continue whispering. "I heard a rumor that maybe your shop was open."
Jess makes an ah sound. "Yeah, and?" I take one last look up at Liz before turning to Jess.
"I'm thinking about a ring."
Jess' lips immediately curl up into a wide smile as she can't help it. "Omg yes!" She jots down her number on a piece of paper, and tears off the strip before tossing it to me. I quickly shove it into my pocket before anyone else can notice.
No one does, but the only person in between us. Rose.
I think nothing of it before remembering that kids talk about anything and everything, and my name and a ring would spill at some point.
"You're getting a ring?" She asks at kid volume, but luckily, no one else heard. "Yes," I whisper. "I want to get Aunt Lizzie a ring, but no one else can know about it." I plead with my eyes at the sweet little Rose.
She nods her head. "Okay." She says innocently enough as her red colored pencils makes contact with the page.
"Legos," She says moments later. "Legos?" I question, indirectly forcing Rose to grace me with her presence. "Legos for the secret."
Jess watches the shake-down happen.
I slowly nod. "Legos," I repeat, unaware that Liz and Scarlett were joining us at the table. "Legos! We're talking about Legos?!" Scarlett asks as she kisses her daughter's head before looking over Jess' drawing. "Yeah! Auntie Y/N said she's going to get me legos once the school year is over!"
Suddenly, all eyes are on me.
"If it's okay with you, Scar," I say as Jess holds back a laugh. Who knew kids were this scary!! Scarlett shrugs. "Sure. We love legos!"
"Legos! We're talking about Legos?!" Colin asks as he enters the room with a freshly changed Cosmo. "Old news, Jost, keep up!" Jess says, making me laugh as Liz sits down next to me.
"Ooh, now, who is this!" She grabs and holds up my colored page of her Marvel character. "I don't know, but she looks pretty hot!" I jump my eyebrows up as I get a playful eye roll back.
"Please, we all know who you really want." Scarlett bites back as she smirks at me.
God, damn Johansson and that smirk.
_
Dinner came and went with much harassment from Scarlett and her endless run of jokes. While funny, my cheeks might've been painted red by the end. Although I know for a fact she wasn't joking when she said she had a Black Widow suit upstairs.
I'm pretty certain my hand was going to break from how hard Liz was holding me.
Anyways, conversations flowed well, and Colin talked to Liz and me about SNL with Benedict this weekend and how fun that'd be. I then realized that I'd be in the same room with Benedict and how I would restrain myself from trying to get him to say penguin.
I also told Liz she should try hosting SNL, which was tabled for another time.
Jess also talked about how she'd love to make jewelry for Liz and me and our upcoming events—so stay tuned for that. _
"Babe, there's no way you're still jealous after last night!"
Liz scoffs as she pulls on the handle to the restaurant, letting me through first. "Jealous?" She scoffs again. "Who said I was jealous?"
"Me!" I point to myself with my thumb. "All because sweet little Rosebud wanted to sit next to me. Hang out with me. Only talk to me! All last night! You got stuck with a gassy Cosmo." I say with glee as we see William and Geneva stand up from their table in the corner of the restaurant to greet us. "Yeah, because Legos were promised. Oh, and let's not forget about Scarlett's friend!" Liz says as her jaw tightens. "And yes, Jess Parker was very nice. I'm glad Scarlett introduced the two of you. Being chatty and all." Liz says as she waves her hand around, and I know I'm immorally pushing the buttons here. Especially when I say. "Pretty, too."
Liz turns to me, and even through her sunglasses, I can see her glaring at me. "Stop, okay. Fine. Let's say I was jealous, but I have no reason to be right now because I'm Geneva's favorite."
I nod my head and agree. "Yeah... for now." I smugly say as I pass her to greet William first while she hugs Geneva before we switch. "Y/N, sit here!" Geneva pulls out the chair to the right of her. "Okay!" I say with a smile as I turn back to Liz to see her flummoxed.
She wasn't expecting that, but being the polite angel she is, she graciously pulls out the chair and sits across from Geneva.
"Hey, you two are matching!" William points out to Liz and Geneva, who are both wearing their LA Dodgers hats. "Yeah!" Liz says as she removes her sunglasses to glance at me. "I knew I had to match with Geneva today! You know..." She glances. "Had to make someone jealous."
Geneva laughs as she sees me roll my eyes.
William notices, too, but chooses not to comment on it.
"Oh. I hope it's alright, but I ordered a round of coffee for the table. I don't know what you two might've gotten up to last night."
Liz and I thank William and let him know that he's definitely speaking to the two most homebodied people who just so happen to have a certain celebrity status. This makes Geneva laugh again before asking Liz about her garden.
Liz happily answers any question Geneva has, and the conversation flows from one topic to another.
The waitstaff come by periodically, and it's always funny to see the different looks from the surrounding customers as they recognize us.
I know I saw a few phones take some pictures; it's annoying, but that's the life I want to have. It comes with a price. But anytime I did catch someone snagging a pic, I made sure to glare their way.
Not for me or Liz. But for Geneva. She's 15. She doesn't need to be posted all over the internet, first off. And secondly. I'm sure her being pictured with Elizabeth Olsen and myself would bring a particular stress she doesn't need.
"So, Geneva, how was the camping trip?" Liz finally asks the one question I know she has been keeping in her back pocket. And just like Liz said, Geneva's face lights up. "Oh my God, I have to show you pictures. It was so cool!"
As Geneva picks up her phone and begins scrolling, mine begins vibrating in my pocket. I think about checking, but I ignore it and choose to remain present in the conversation as Geneva's phone gets handed to me.
I lean over closer to Liz and begin swiping to the left on her photo album titled 🌲 Oregon Trip 🌲
"Oh my gosh, look at that one!" I say as we swipe by a selfie of Geneva at the top of a waterfall. "That's a stunning picture! Where is that?" Liz says as she looks up to Geneva, but her finger points to an object in the picture.
It's an LA Dodgers hat.
I nudge Liz with my leg under the table before handing Liz the phone to reach mine as it starts vibrating again.
"Sorry," I say to the group as I check the Caller ID: Bo.
"Shit," I say before looking at Geneva. "Sorry." She shrugs. "That's fine. I curse, too. Fuck. See?" She says deadpan before breaking out into a smile, making me and Liz laugh while her dad scolds her. "Honey, don't do that." She shrugs again.
"Who is it?" Liz asks as my screen goes black. "It's Bo." I think he's calling me back to give me the final word on what the album will be titled." I sigh. "I don't think the studio likes the I keep pushing back." Liz brings her hand gently onto my arm before rubbing it up and down. The action, while comforting, reminds me that we're not alone.
"Sorry. Geneva, you were saying?" I question, but William stops me. "Hey, if you have an important phone call, we're more than happy to wait or let you take it." I shake my head. "I don't want to be r-" Before I can finish my sentence, my phone starts vibrating on the table.
"Take it," Liz says to me with a pointed look. William nods in agreement. "Go! Don't worry, I'll have more photos to share!" Geneva smiles at me before focusing on her chocolate chip pancakes. "This place is always so good." She looks to her dad.
"Go." Liz practically shoves me out of my seat with love and care. I nod to the table and let them know that I'll "be right back." As I answer the phone.
"Hey, Bo!"
"You know I called you two other times."
"Uh oh, someone's cranky," I say as I wave to the hostess who waved at me. Good thing Liz didn't see that.
I hear Bo grumble on the other side of the call as I exit the restaurant and begin walking around the parking lot.
"I'm not cranky." He says. "Well then, let me guess, someone got Decaf this morning?" I know I hit the nail on the head when he doesn't immediately quip back. "Come on, who's your favorite!" I tease with a smile.
"Anyways..." He starts making me awww. "Would you like to know what happened in the meeting a few minutes ago, or should we keep joking around?"
Liz POV
As I look back from the hostess waving at Y/N, I'm met with the smirk of a 15-year-old.
"Does that happen a lot?" She asks before stabbing a strawberry with her fork. "Does what happen?" I ask, pretending to be clueless. "Girls throwing themselves at Y/N." Geneva dramatically falls onto the table.
William clears his throat as a warning to Geneva just in case she's crossing a line. But she's not. Because. "No. It doesn't."
Geneva makes a questioning hum.
"Okay, I'll bite. What?" I ask, tilting my head. But the teen just smiles and smirks again.
"Okay, Wanda." She takes a sip of her water. "I was just saying that you had a certain look of jealousy in your eye. I mean, I get it hex is very attractive-" "Geneva."
"Dad." She mocks back. "Elizabeth knows." I breathe out. "For the last time, it's Lizzie." I chuckle. "And yes, I do know. But that doesn't mean every girl throws themselves at Y/N."
(A/N: They do)
Geneva puts her hands up in surrender. "I was just saying." William leans over and apologizes for his daughter in a very teasing way, making Geneva defend herself, leading to her and her dad playfully arguing.
It's cute, but it does make me think about my father. It's been months since I've seen him or spoken to him, and yet I wonder what he's doing right now. I know he misses me, but is he truly sorry?
Y/N has moved on from how he treated her, but I can't.
He hurt me and someone I love—bottom line.
"Elizabeth?" Geneva pulls me out of my thoughts. "It's Lizzie." She smiles back, loving this back-and-forth we have. "Sorry." She makes a very sarcastic gesture as she rolls her eyes. "Lizzie?"
"Yes?"
"D-do you think.. Do you think Y/N would follow my Instagram?"
Okay, maybe Y/N IS everyone's favorite.
"I just love you and her so much. And since you don't have any social media anymore, it'd be really cool! Plus, I love her music! And we are all forming this fanfic kinda bond right now, so it seems like-" I hold my hand to let Geneva catch her breath.
I take a glance at William, who shrugs.
"I'm sure she wouldn't mind, but try asking her." Geneva nods and grabs her phone. "Okay!" She immediately gets up and runs out to speak to Y/N.
"Oh wait, Geneva.. I didn't... mean now... she's gone."
"And then there were two." William laughs as he leans back into the wooden chair of the restaurant. Rubbing the grey hairs, he has under his neck. "How long do you think she'll be?"
"I was just about to ask you." I chuckle while William smiles before leaning forward with his elbows on the table. He clears his throat before taking a full of coffee.
"This is a lovely place you and Geneva picked. I've never been here before." I say as my eyes dart around the fun interior. "Yeah. Geneva and I have been coming here since she was about 2." My eyes widen a bit. "Oh wow!"
William nods. "Course, she only remembers it only being just the two of us."
Oh!?
"There was someone else before?" I cautiously ask. Curiosity getting the best of me. William nods again. "Clara. Geneva's mother." There's sadness as he says her name.
"Excuse me for asking. But has she passed?" William doesn't take offense and only offers a shake of the head. "No." He sighs. "I don't think anything will kill that woman." Again, he rubs his shaven beard. "She's not in our lives."
"Oh.. By choice?" He nods. "Ours." Referring to him and Geneva. "Geneva has always been a bright girl. Smarter than me. Funnier than most. She's the type not to be afraid to show off what makes her, her."
I nod along to his words and smile. It's true. I barely know this father and teenager, but everything he's saying is true.
William takes a breath and sniffles as he continues speaking. "Clara did not like that. Especially when Geneva was discovering who she is." I raise my eyebrows and make an ahh noise.
"I used to work a lot more than I do now, so I was blind to it."
I tilt my head and bring my body forward against the table. When William moves his face upward, I can see the light of the morning sun bounce off the water in his eyes.
I hesitate to ask... "Did she ever-?" William stops me before I can finish. "She never laid a hand on her. But the verbal assault was enough." A shaky breath escapes him. "What kind of parent does that?" He asks me.
Once again. I can't help but think of my father.
"It only got worse when Geneva was brave enough to come out and tell us that she was gay." William clears his throat again. "And maybe another reason she did it was to show she wasn't going to change. Or maybe she did it because she truly thought it would change Clara."
William sighs with a shrug.
"Of course, I accepted her, and I thought my wife did too..." He shakes his head. Still hurt. "But one week later, she was trying to send our tween off to a conversion camp."
He pauses.
"I never looked at the person I married the same way after that." He picks up the napkin in his lap and runs it over his nose as I blink away the tears in the corners of my eyes. "I had a point when I started this, I promise." William cracks. "I could tell." I light-heartedly joke back. He smiles.
"Geneva is one hell of a kid. One in a million. And she likes you and your girlfriend. And hell, for some reason, it looks like you like us too." I smile and nod. "And she may look tough as nails, but she's still a kid, at least to me. My girl." He says. "So please be careful with her."
I nod with a sniffle."I can promise you that Y/N and I only want to be the best for her." I take a second. "She's a brave kid. She helped me be brave, too."
William smiles.
"Jesus..." I ran a hand through my hair. "It sounds like we're adopting her." William belly laughs at that.
Y/N POV
"They pushed. They want it to be like a real debut album. And since this is more than an EP, they're making you go self-titled. hex." Bo says on the other side.
I sigh. This isn't the worst, and I know I should be grateful for this opportunity. So I breathe out and smile. "Okay. Timetable?" I ask.
"Late Summer," Bo says as he looks at a stack of papers in front of him. "August."
I turn around when I feel the eyes of someone on me. I quietly laugh when I see an out-of-breath Geneva.
I quickly wave to her as she waves back.
"And did they say anything about a tour?" I raise an eyebrow with interest.
I hear Bo go quiet.
"Ten shows to start. With you going self-titled, your livestream tonight and if depending on your sales once released, they'll add more."
I nod to his words, but I hate the roadblocks I have placed in front of that I must maneuver to please men in suits.
"But you get to pick where you want the tour to start."
It makes me smile because I instantly think about my Dad and where to play. "Nashville. Anywhere you can fit me."
When the call ends minutes later, Geneva politely holds her phone out to me, and I press follow.
