Public Service Announcement, Numero Five.

It has come to my attention, that there is a member in this community, that is trying to push other players into making their OC's several things. In this PSA, I'm going to list why you shouldn't just because someone asks you to.

1: "You should totally make your Spartan-III from Gamma Company, cause blah blah blah." Having a Gamma spartan is all fine and Dandy. If YOU want them to be that. If someone pushes you to make your character something that THEY want, then, is it still your Original Character?

2: "Oh, you should totally make your Character from this planet, cause it's a military powerhouse and blahblahblah" Okay, so what. Spartan-III's were Orphans of War. You don't even need to say where your S-III is from. You could leave it as a mystery until you decide where you want them to be from. 3: "Your OC should be from Pacifica!"

Oh yes, I'm going there..  Pacifica. Let's list all of the things that it is. (By the way, I'm getting Nasty.)

A: Broken. B: Not Canon. C: Full of Smut and Dick-waving. D: Not Canon. E: Honestly, if it were as it has been Stated, it would not be considered a UNSC planet. It would be a Colony that has been marked as a Rebel colony. The good news? It would probably have it's own name, like, Pacifican Secessionist Front, or Pacifican Rebel Militia, or Pacifi-can't stay with the UNSC.

Oh, and G: This one is important. It's NOT CANON. Ever wondered what God-Modding would like like on a larger scale? See; Pacifica. See also; Pacifican Fleet.

You see the problem? Fix it, or Nuke it. Literally. With a plasma volley. Glass the planet.

Basically, what I'm trying to say, is that, if it's YOUR OC, then, as long as you follow the set canon, ie what has been marked as FACT in the Halo Universe (go to Halo Nation wiki to learn more), then why are you going to let someone else tell you what to make your character.

Now, some of you may look at me like I'm a hypocrite for this. I've told people that they need to fix their character, usually in nicer terms, because they butcher canon/god-mod/mary-sue/etc. I've never told them what they should make their character, just that it needs to be fixed.

Look at this as an open invitation to any and ALL Halo-Universe roleplayers. There is a a group of us that ARE willing to help you, if you are willing to listen.

OOC - Clearing the Air

Headhunter-SIII -  You're seeing a problem exactly where you're supposed to be seeing one. Cidnei Olenko's rank is a red flag - it's supposed to make you realize that one of these things is not like the other. Congratulations for being the first to point it out, though I know you're not the only one who caught on to it.  

For the rest of you whom caught it -  When I run things with multiple stages and layers, I like to leave little red flags lying around as clues for people to pay attention to. It's more interesting for players than me coming right out and saying "oh its because XYZ". I come from a background in LARP and table-stop, and when I migrated this style for online play, it's always seemed to work well for me.  In short, when I make what appears to be a glaring military mistake, it's usually not one. It's a clue to pay attention or make a little notation for yourselves for later.  In any case, you also all deserve cookies. (Really, is there anyone left that doesn't know I'm Sterling at this point? May as well just be out with it.) 

For those reading who didn't catch it -  I politely recommend that you take another peek through the Halo RP Reference Guide ODSTAdrianFii and I made up; you can find the link in my CSV. You'll find links to the ranking structure for all branches of the military, and a general guide on military terms, conduct (who to sir, who to salute) that will overall improve the general military flavor of your RP, and your enjoyment of the fun we've been crafting around here. 

Now as to what exactly Olenko's thing is, you'll get to wait and see if you're reading.  For those whom are interested in getting involved in said storyline, it's not ending any time soon, not by a long shot. If you're interested in getting involved in something vaguely episodic involving ONI conspiracies and what not, shoot me a message and I'll add you to the roster of pawns on the chess board. This RP is more or less self-contained, and doesn't have to be integrated into your own headcanons. If you want to participate, you're more than welcome to, but if not that's a-okay too.

Bio:  Codename: Seraph's service record predates the Human-Covenant War, though no definitive information seems to exist on record pertaining to his birth name, birth date, age, or planet of origin... Nor is his actual appearance definitively on record. At present, it is entirely unknown if the current 'Seraph' is even the original holder of the rank and codename, though no records regarding his death have ever been uncovered or released.  Seraph is the consummate master of disguise, altering his hair color, eye color via implanted augmentations, facial features via prosthetics and makeup, and even his height and build on a day to day basis to ensure that his anonymity is guaranteed.  Anonymity is important to the Vice Admiral, whom oversees the majority of ONI's oft-denied wetworks operations, though he rarely handles the matters directly himself anymore. He commands a vast array of operatives whom he's taught the art of infiltration and disguise over the years, and was previously one of Admiral Parangosky's closest advisors, though he took no pleasure in this distinction as he recognized it for what it was - keeping one's friends close and one's enemies closer.  In the wake of Serin Osman's promotion to Admiral and head of ONI, Seraph no longer enjoys the same degree of trust that he did before, and has begun to find more and more restrictions being laid down on his ability to command and direct his operatives as he sees fit. Whether this leads to an eventual confrontation between himself and Osman remains to be seen.
