Listen, I didn’t really mind L3’s personality that much, she seems fun, but like did these writers not think about how problematic her character makes things?
Here we have in a canon star wars movie confirmation that droids are sentient and do not like having to work for flesh people. Guess what that makes all your most favorite and beloved star wars characters? Complicit in the ownership of slaves. Luke bought r2d2, a sentient being, so now he’s a slaver.
In this very movie Lando is L3′s slaver and neither he nor any of the other character’s are particularly troubled by her plight. Like, she talks about how the people running the bar won’t serve droids, and beings like her are forced to fight to the death as entertainment, and she’s played off as an SJW straw man who’s just kind of annoying to the other characters.
Am I, as a flesh person, supposed to sympathize with the other humans who are annoyed and laughing at L3, or am I as a person with morals supposed to sympathize with L3 and feel angry at literally every other character in the movie bc they’re all complicit in her slavery?
Like damn did these writers not think at all?
