God... Jaune repeating the exact same day over and over again with the Paper Pleasers for years because internally he's been reliving that moment on the bridge for even longer, trying to find a version of events where he could have saved her.
He thinks he's doing this because the Pleasers are people he can actually save, but deeper down he knows he can't save them in any meaningful way because it'll all just happen again tomorrow, so he needs to keep doing it over and over until he can do it right, until he can find a way to actually save them, a way he could have saved Penny.
If he can just get it right tomorrow.
But reliving the same day over and over again wasn't helping the Pleasers, it never would, and lingering forever on that moment on the bridge will never save Penny, even if there was a way he could have done things differently back then.
It isn't until something forces Jaune out if his obsessive spiral that the Paper Pleasers are able to come back, and come back stronger, and it won't be until he moves forward from the moment on the bridge and looks toward what he can do now that Penny will be able to come back stronger.
It's too late to save me
But there is something you can do
