i'm not a car enthusiast, but i am fascinated by multi-storey car parks as a form of architecture that has been around for more than a century and has always reflected the times in which it was built. used sensibly, they can help keep pavements free of stationary traffic, but unfortunately they are rarely used by residents, who still find it too cheap to park on the street.

another idea would be to convert them into living space or variable space for all kinds of people in a hopefully near future post-car era. free space in the city is a scarce commodity and it will not get any better.

obwohl kein autofreund, faszinieren mich parkhäuser als eine architekturform die inzwischen über ein jahrhundert auf dem buckel hat und auch immer ein abbild der jeweiligen epoche ist. sinnvoll angewendet können sie schon helfen die gehsteige von ruhendem verkehr freizuhalten, leider werden sie aber kaum von anwohnern genutzt, dafür ist das parken auf der straße noch zu preiswert.

ein anderer gedanke wäre sie in einer hoffentlich nahen postautoära zu wohnraum oder variablem space für alle mögliche umzuwidmen. freier raum in der stadt stellt ein knappes gut dar und auch das wird nicht besser werden.

Well, the few times I go by car I need a space for it. This space in Frankfurt Sachsenhausen, Walter-Kolb-Straße, is cheap, low cost, offers spectacular views. So, that's one of the spectacular views.
