My infp friend said recently that she's addicted to the thrill of forcing work out at the last minute, even though she knows it's bad for her emotional health. It's not the first time that my Fi-dom friends shared that they're addicted to something that's bad for them. This is puzzling to me. Why are they addicted to things that don't really help their mental/emotional health? Is it the thrill of intense, up and down emotions?

In a nutshell, yes, with regard to Fi. There is oftentimes also some enjoyment of auxiliary Ne improvisation as well as inferior Te sense of power mixed in there.
