The Wheel of Time PoV-problem

honestly op, if you think wot is ‘needlessly complex’ bc of all the povs, then there are plenty of other fantasy series out there with a small number of povs you could read & enjoy instead. (and personally, as a huge perrin fan who doesn’t really see the appeal in mat, i find your opinion hugely subjective, but obvs YMMV)

Oh wow, I’ve never even heard of you before so I must’ve really gotten the tags right.

But, dude, this has nothing to do with “other fantasy books do the same thing“ or “if you don’t like it, read something else“.

The Wheel of Time is a huge chunk of my childhood, and for all that I could drag it for numerous reasons, I could praise it for several others (not the least of which being that it brought me into the fantasy-genre like you wouldn’t believe).

That’s irrelevant to the point at hand, same as my somewhat uncaring dismissal of Perrin in the tags. The point is that the Wheel of Time has so many different PoVs that the MAIN CHARACTERS aren’t actually given any screentime.

And I feel like that’s kind of problematic, you know?

you hit the nail on the head on everything re: thor's treatment i disliked and man did i sob for hours over him being reduced to a joke like that sdfghjdgs but! on a happier note, what were your thorbruce thoughts?! =D

Here I think I didn’t pay enough attention to that because of the Thor sitch? 

HOWEVER I did love the Bruce was the one that went to find Thor and talked to Thor a lot and we had good moments for them!! They also definitely deserved to hug when Thor was all like ‘don’t mention [Thanos’] name’ but OH WELL.

“thor. no.”

thor folded his arms and huffed, “you’re the worst husband ever.”

“i know i am, honey” bruce rolled his eyes but placed a kiss on thor’s forehead anyway.

“i mean it, i’m getting a divorce.”

“hm, and when you file for the divorce, make sure to list the reason as ‘prissy king doesn’t like to be told 'no’” bruce pulled out his tablet and began to work on some files, ignoring thor’s obvious attempts to get his attention.

“exactly! i’m a king! what gives you the right to tell me what i can and can’t do?”

bruce said nothing, but held up his left hand and displayed the wedding ring on his finger in response. thor sighed loudly and started to pout.

bruce continued ignoring thor and working on his tablet. thor sighed loudly again, hoping to get bruce’s attention, but to no avail.

“you know, in asgard it’s mandatory for the king to have a royal pet?”

bruce ignored him again.

“like that queen who has lots of corgos”

“corgis, honey”

“exactly. so really if we don’t get a dog then we would be breaking the royal tradition”

bruce finally looked up from his tablet, “sweetheart. i know that you’re talking a load of nonsense, i’m not that gullible. stop it.”

thor unfolded his arms and looked down, now avoiding bruce’s stare, “i’m a king, i shall speak nonsense if i so please.” thor grumbled, picking at a loose thread on their couch.

bruce sighed and put down his tablet, wrapping an arm around thor’s waist, “honey, we just don’t have to time for a dog at the moment. i promise you though, one day we will get one. you can chose what to name them and everything.”

thor smiled and leaned into bruce’s side, “okay.”

“Hey. I had to go to that goddamn fair and corn maze. You can deal with a night of horror movies,” Gabriel says, grabbing the popcorn. 

“I hate horror movies,” Jack grumbles, cuddling against his boyfriend. “Don’t we see enough horror in our day to day lives?”
