Week 199, Day 1389.
As I eluded to last week, I am absolutely swamped with work. It could definitely be worse, but is still exhausting and overwhelming as it is.
However, I am treating myself to a day off tomorrow and a trip to the seaside Monday and Tuesday after I submit 4 full chapters and 1 incomplete-but-getting-there chapter to my supervisors for review sometime before midnight on Sunday, probably at 23:59.
As much as I am a huge advocate for looking after your mental health, I must admit, it is very hard to take time off guilt free, especially when the finish line feels so near but there is so much left to do.
On the subject of thesis writing, it inspired me to make a meme (see below). There is a reason why this is a degree in philosophy; you think and ponder and think some more and construct and re-construct and think and philosophise, eventually chiselling out something concise and sensical, even though for the majority of the time you have no idea what you are doing or talking about. Hope those who understand (have suffered) the process find it as funny as I did. Hats off to everyone that has completed their PhD journey, it truly is an ultra-triathlon.
Thank you to 900+ of you that follow me, you’re part of what keeps me writing. ✨
