IMPORTANT PSA

As many of you are probably aware, there are a lot of scammers on tumblr right now. One of my tumblr friends has unfortunately just been scammed out of a large sum of money in excess of $3000 from a tumblr scammer, and is now having to deal with reporting fraud to their bank in the hopes to get their money back. Their tumblr account was also hacked and deleted by the scammer.

My message to you: DO NOT TRUST ANYONE who messages you directly claiming that they accidentally reported your account instead of someone else's. They ask you to use Discord, or email, to speak with tumblr support staff...except it isn't real support staff. They then hack and delete your account and blackmail you into sending them money to recover your account. If anyone comes into your DMs saying anything like this (and it usually starts with a simple "hi" message before they start the scam) REPORT THEM IMMEDIATELY.

I have been getting these scam messages a minimum of 3 or 4 times every single day. I report every account that does it. You should too. Report and block, simple as that.

And please, if you have a moment...REBLOG THIS SO IT REACHES AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE. I do not want anyone else to go through losing money like my friend did. Look after each other by warning your tumblr followers of this scam, because not everyone is aware of it yet.

When I made my post for mutual aid earlier this week I almost immediately got a DM from some person claiming they'd send me $150

Who then immediately started making excuses as to why pay pal was not working and started asking me questions that were without a doubt a Phishing attempt.

I went through their likes, and EVERY SINGLE POST this profile ever liked was a mutual aid post. Just a phisher preying on people already at their lowest trying to get your bank info and drain you of the last bit you are worth.

Beware of Scammers

Y'all, never thought this would happen with OCs but it is. I just got a DM, and the beginning of it is "awe, love your oc!" which always warms my heart, but then it just went bad.

I checked this person's tumblr and there's nothing. Nada

Be wary of links and strange tumblr names (this one was a name with a lot of random numbers and letters stringed on) as you never know what the new scam/phish is.

Adding significant tags so people can see this and heed the warning. Spread awareness to all OC communities!

Hey- saw you answered a question about your favourite subject in school, just wanted to warn you about these anon asks. A couple larger accounts I follow have reported they’ve been going around and gotten similar asks, enough to be concerned they may be phishing attempts- you know, like favourite class, favourite animals, pets names, etc. To get your passwords. They won’t ask something as obvious as mother maiden name but other stuff CAN look like legit fan questions. Hope you’re well ❤️

Heads up to my followers, this is a phishing blog. Account's only 6 hours old, and a quick google of the paypal name shows the name is associated with a lot of phishing accounts. Report and block ✌

fell for a scam a few months back, and the despicable prick is back at it.

@wanderleivanderlei is just about certainly a phishing account, and if you get an ask from them or anyone claiming a similar fundraiser to "my pet is injured here's shit to prove my vet is real please help me", do not fall for it. if you're actually dealing with a crisis with your pet; sorry, but the scams are too bad here for it to be worth putting up a fundraiser here.

whoever keeps running these, i'm sure they're working on a tenth circle in hell just for you; go fuck yourself.
