The first time Zuko dies, his sister pushes him off the roof.
The pavers are hot, the sun is strong on his face, and the sky is painfully vivid, painfully blue. And it isn’t until he sits up that Zuko sees the wet blood beneath him, the smear across the ground.
He can see the confusion on Azula’s face, the shock of relief.
He should be dead, but he isn’t.
He died, but it didn’t stick.
