Kya and Hakoda stumble upon a baby dragon who, after she shifts forms, they mistake for being a spirit or spirit cursed. Years later, Sokka follows them to a nearby a cave and finds a familiar half dragon eight year old.

Katara: you keep changing size.
Azula: there's nothing wrong about that, I'm using my skills.
Katara: you go from kitty-owl sized to larger than Appa in the blink of an eye, that's cheating.
Azula: you're just a sour looser.

Hi ATLA tumblr, I made an ATLA au recently called “May the Spirits Guide You” the main idea is the same, however Aang is given a vision that benders given blessings by the first benders will assist him in learning the elements and defeating the fire lord.
These are my designs for Zuko and Azula, who are blessed by the dragons Ran and Shaw after a failed poisoning attempt in order to save their life.
(I should clarify, they still support Ozai at the start of this AU)
