I've had lots of things to deal with over the years. Physical issues that have tested my resolve, and mental health. But my biggest fight has to be living with neuralgia pain. Every day is a physical, mental and emotional challenge.
Watching my twin struggle for 6 months and her subsequent passing, has tipped my health. It started with muscle tightness at the left side of my mouth, my cerebral palsy side, which I believe is linked to the stroke I had before I was born, to the myelin nerve. I am taking a myelin nerve supplement which has helped and is continuing to help reduce the pain and heal the nerve.
I'm thinking the myelin nerve supplement wouldn't help, if it wasn't the myelin nerve that was damaged. When I first went back to find out about a disability I didn't know I had, I went to see a consultant to get a diagnosis, who mentioned some of the difficulties of ageing with cerebral palsy.
So, I think this was something that would always have been ear marked for me that it was my twin's illness and subsequent death that tipped my health. The tightness on my cerebral palsy side has led to difficulties in chewing and pain.
What I DON'T have is popping, clicking or grinding noises when I move my jaw, or difficulty opening my mouth fully, or of my jaw locking when I open my mouth, all of which are synonymous with TMJ, which is good.
I DO have an appointment with a consultant in a couple of months. My stroke can't be ruled out and it may be suggested I need another MRI scan to see if my cerebral palsy has progressed. My dentist who confirmed these issues, said I should take painkillers for the pain and didn't say what I had was temporary.
