This is a fun #pilatesexercise called #doublelegstretch #pilatesdoublelegstretch anywho it’s not actually a stretch more like a torture... double leg torture would be a more fitting name - you hug yourself into a tiny ball then reach overhead sending the legs out far! Circling the arms around and hugging yourself into a tiny ball again! Works the abs - keep the spine FLAT or IMPRINTED when you send the legs out the idea is to not allow the spine to arch off the mat so when you hug yourself into a tiny ball feel your lower spine on the mat! ...... look at that nice side arc..... . I’ve been teaching this side bend with a block on the floor so they slide the block in and out as they go through the side bend. . But even though there is all this upper body weight going to the side giving them an increase in their passive stretch....I heavily cue for a tuck in the pelvis and lower ab engagement to recruit on the flexion. . ........A fun variation on pull ups on the trap table. . . I took the foot strap from the reformer and hooked it on the high eyelets on the trap. Only one foot is really secure, the other foot is easily taken out. . . It’s an opportunity to challenge pull ups because his feet are as high as he can go for today. It’s as close to a decline pull up we could get.. . Then we just added the hamstring stretch at the end because we are really making headway with Bens mobility training. . Ben is a surfer so we are working all the strength and flexibility needed to keep him surfing in any conditions. . I’ve been training surfers since 2008. I really think I have this training dialed in. . . .
