Class 142 "Skipper" Manufacturer: BREL and British Leyland (1985-1987) Model: Pacer Designed for branch lines and short length urban lines as a cheaper alternative to refurbishing existing asbestos-ridden stock and the more developed Sprinter units. Served around Liverpool, Manchester, the North, the Southwest and South Wales until their withdrawal in 2020.

Class 390 "Pendolino" Manufacturer: Alstom (2001-2005, 2010-2012) Model: Pendolino Designed for intercity services on the West Coast Mainline. Derived from the earlier APT prototypes, these trains are able to tilt to be able to go around corners at a higher speed.

Class 385 "eXpress" Manufacturer: Hitachi (2015-2019) Model: AT200 (Hitachi A-train) Designed to serve on newly electrified routes around Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland.

Class 399 Manufacturer: Vossloh (2014-2015) Model: Citylink Designed for tram-train operations on the Sheffield Supertram. Only 5 of the 7 units are able to be used for tram-train operation.
