Thank you to Daphne Press and Netgalley for the eARC. All thoughts are my own.
This was such a fascinating book full of interesting, layered characters and a great plot that kept me hooked.
I loved the concept of Magic as a being. I definitely need to know more about Magic and Voids in the future of this series. This book tells you enough to intrigue you but nowhere near enough to have any answers and it’s very cleverly done.
Esme and her wraith siblings were all really interesting characters and I loved getting to know them, especially Esme and Urias. And I thought Bal, Janos, Mina and Simon were intriguing as well. The relationships between them all were great and I loved the way Esme loved each of them differently. But to be honest, I didn’t end up connecting with them on an emotional level which left some scenes that should have had me tearing up at the very least feeling a little hollow.
That being said, I think the writing here is fantastic and I will definitely be picking up book 2.
Do you have any book recommendations with poly relationships? Preferably fiction. I’ve been avoiding reading romance recently because everything is based on monogamous relationships and it gets tiring after a while.
I recommend checking the notes on this post where someone else asked. There are a lot of things recommended by others that I haven't gotten around to reading. 📖 I totally feel you with the mono romances being a drag sometimes. Its real bad when jealousy is a major point :/
Romance pet peeve: If your love interests aren’t best friends (even once they’re together), you have a toxic view of relationships. Keep that shit away from me…
While I'm stricken with covid but still have enough energy to read, I have a request for recommendations! Can I remember if I already asked this before? No, no I cannot!!
I'm looking for some historical poly romances. If not historical then fantasy or sci-fi. Contemp if I trust you 😉
I've already read The Companion by E.E. Ottoman and The Mischievous Letters of the Marquise de Q by Felicia Davin. Currently reading Heart and Hand by Rebel Carter and Running Close to the Wind by Alexandra Rowland (also Triple Sec is on my TBR).
THANKS GANG 💖
A Dowry Of Blood by S.T. Gibson
honestly, read it. it is really great. i cannot tell you how much i love the writing style, also how the author talked about the relationship and the conflict of love and hate.
the feelings of Constanta were going under the skin and were so relatable. so, so much.
we all know, and love, that love is a spectrum and that vampires, who can be as old as time, have a different view for love. it can be romantic, it can be platonic, it can also be a form of love for family or something in between. and that was so well done.
i could talk hours about that book, but since I would spoiler you, i don't.
