The Charity Ball part one / part two / part three part four / part five / part six
The last issue of the Marvel/Epic comic Wild Cards was published with a pull date of December 1990. The issue had 3 writers, 5 artists, and 2 colorists. ("Spadework", Wild Cards 4, Marvel/Epic Comic Event)
Incredible words I learned from watching Succession today:
HISTRIONIC: The word “histrionic” means “dramatic or theatrical.” For people with histrionic personality disorder, their self-esteem depends on the approval of others and doesn't come from a true feeling of self-worth. They have an overwhelming desire to be noticed and often behave dramatically or inappropriately to get attention. (This made me think of clickbait social media users)
MERETRICIOUS: apparently attractive but having in reality no value or integrity. archaic definition: relating to or characteristic of a prostitute. (This one made me think of Kim Kardashian)
POPINJAY: a vain or conceited person, especially one who dresses or behaves extravagantly.
Twilight Sparkle poses with the Popinjays (an old word for parrot) in the Lumley Chapel.
In Cheam, in Surrey, England.
(There’s a LOT of popinjays for the Lumley family!)
Hey so remember that fic my friend wrote called On Love and Possession? There’s gunna be more where that came from, and I can’t wait until you get the chance to read it. Mhm, I've said my speech Mhm, through sharpened teeth You break the rules and spikes grow from your skin Please let the devil in

I was rereading the Harry Potter series for the seventh or eighth time when I stumbled across this gem. The quote, "my poor puffed-up popinjay," will now be one of my favorite sayings in times of distress.
