1. the size difference

Dating Steve Rogers meant constantly being reminded of just how big he was. Not just tall—but broad, solid, built like something unreal. His hands alone could cover most of your waist, fingers spreading like he needed to ground himself in you. And the way he’d pull you close? Effortless. Like you weighed nothing. You’d catch the looks sometimes—people noticing how easily he dwarfed you—but Steve never made it feel intimidating. If anything, it felt… safe. Until he’d lean down, voice low in your ear, grip tightening just slightly like he knew exactly what he was doing—and suddenly that size difference felt like something else entirely.

2. secretly a freak (and nobody believes you)

No one on the team believes you. Not Sam, not Bucky—no one. To them, Steve is all polite smiles, old-fashioned charm, and “language!” when someone swears too loud. But you know better. You’ve seen the way his eyes darken when it’s just the two of you. The way his voice drops, softer but heavier, when he’s close. He’s controlled—always controlled—but that’s what makes it worse. Because when that control slips, even a little? Yeah… no one would believe it. And honestly, you’ve stopped trying to convince them. It’s your secret—and the way Steve looks at you across the room sometimes tells you he’s perfectly fine keeping it that way.

3. romantic for no reason (especially after missions)

Steve is the definition of romantic, but it hits different after missions. Especially the ones where things get too close. You’ll notice it immediately—he gets quieter at first, more attentive. Then suddenly, he’s planning something. A dinner, a walk, something simple but intentional. It’s never about the place—it’s about you. The way he watches you, like he’s grounding himself in the fact that you’re still there. That he made it back to you. He won’t always say it out loud, but you feel it in everything he does—the way his hand lingers in yours, the softness in his voice. Loving you is how he comes back to himself.

4. soft mornings

Mornings with Steve are… unfairly sweet. You’re usually half-asleep when you feel it—soft kisses against your face, your jaw, your shoulder. He wakes you up gently, like there’s no rush, like the world can wait. And then there’s the smell—breakfast. Because of course he’s already been up, already made something for you. When you finally open your eyes, he’s right there, smiling softly, tray in hand like it’s the most normal thing in the world. “Morning,” he murmurs, leaning in to kiss you again. And just like that, you’re starting your day wrapped in warmth, in care, in him.

Steve who likes to lean his head on Eddie's shoulder which is just the right height for his head to be tucked comfortably.

Eddie who has a stupidly large crush on Steve ever since he finally accepted that he was a good guy slowly imploding from it.

Steve searches him out, even once where they end up at a party, visiting Robin at college.

A puff of hair parts the crowd and finds Eddie before he can even look for Steve.

A head rests on Eddie's shoulder where he's leaning against the wall before any words even leave his lips.

The soft "There you are," accompanied by a sigh of relief has Eddie's heart going a mile-a-minute as the crowd pulses around them. Steve's head tucked against him, his body pressed to his side.

The girl that Eddie had been talking to raises her eyebrows but says nothing.

She two-finger salutes Eddie and disappears into the crowd.

"Sorry, were you talking to her?"

"She was just asking about DnD dice, she saw my patch," he says, adjusting his arms to pull Steve close.

Steve hums, rubs his cheek against Eddie like a cat, which Eddie's convinced he is, even though he thought him golden retriever at first.

Eddie slides his arm around Steve's just as Steve says,

"Eddie, do you like me?"

It's so out of the blue that Eddie almost drops Steve.

"Yeah Steve, course I do bud,"

"Do you like like me?" Steve presses, cheek smushed to shoulder.

"Fuck Stevie and what if I do?" Eddie retorts, a bit defensive at being put on the spot.

Steve rubs his face into Eddie's collar and presses his front to Eddie's. He rests his head back on Eddie's shoulder, face turned up to Eddie's arms circling 'round his middle.

"That's good cause I like like you too," Steve says, a whisper of breath against Eddie's neck.

"Yeah?" Eddie asks, breathless from the soft confession.

"Yeah,"

Eddie wraps his hands around Steve, swaddling him against his body, holds him close. Still in disbelief at the casual confession forced out of him.

"Good…yeah that's good, great oh my god what am I saying, Steve you cannot do this to me in the middle of a party,"

"That girl you were talking to was pretty," Steve says into his neck, it's mumbly and soft and Eddie almost doesn't catch it.

Eddie blinks and stares down at brown hair.

"Were you…. were you jealous? was that jealousy? Steven J Harrington, did you chase her away on purpose,"

Steve's head pops up then, close and in Eddie's space, staring intensely at him.

"You like me Eddie, me," Steve says, petulant like the rich kid Eddie had thought he was. It would be whiny if it wasn't for the intense way Steve's eyes were fixed on him, he means business.

"Y-yes I like you,"

"And I like you," he says with a little nod, urging Eddie to understand.

"Yeah, Stevie, I kind of got that," Eddie says with a small puff of laughter. his hands hold Steve's waist, full and delicious in his hands. Steve's hands come up to cup his face.

"Which means you're mine Munson and I needed you to know that before anyone gets that close," Steve says, voice tinged with a possessiveness that shouldn't make Eddie's skin hot but it does.

He catches those pink possessive lips, just mere centimetres from him with his own.

It's a kiss he's wanted for so long he's not even sure how to process it now he's got it, mouth sliding against Steve's in a hot wet mess. Guided only by Steve's hands and firm lips. He kisses Eddie like he's trying to make a mark.

They break apart, tugged by Steve.

Who then proceeds to bite down on his jaw, hard. Eddie cries out only for Steve's hand to clamp down on his mouth. Holding his sounds there, in their little bubble.

When Steve pulls back, Eddie can feel the grooves of his teeth still on his jawline.

"What the-,"

Steve pats him on the cheek, smiling "There, you can go and talk to anyone now,"

Eddie can only stare at Steve's retreating back as he makes a beeline for Robin.

Eddie sure as hell wasn't going to talk to anyone with the raging boner he had right now.

He had a Steve to chase.

Why I'm Reccing: Oh man. This fic. So, I had dabbled in dom/sub fics in other fandoms, but they were never very good. So I had taken to kind of avoiding them.

But then I came across this fic and the summary intrigued me. So, this was my first dom/sub Stony fic. And let me tell you, it's a good one! There's a lot of great dom/sub fics in Stony, and I'm actually more of a sub Steve kinda gal now. BUT...this fic is incredible. I went back and reread it and I think I actually enjoyed it even more the second time.

This fic is actually really sweet. Tony is convinced that due to his rare submissive category, he will never be able to find true love. So he has built up a lot of walls and defenses over the decades in an effort to prevent getting his heart broken.

This fic is, for the most part, a really sweet fic about Steve slowly but surely wearing down all those walls Tony has built around himself and his heart, and you'll be reading all these cute and caring interactions, and then bam! It will just hit you right in the face with the HOTTEST paragraph ever. And these aren't even necessarily smutty paragraphs, but they are still just so incredibly hot.

This is a slow burn where the build-up to Tony and Steve declaring their feelings is so well done, like amazing foreplay. And when Tony and Steve finally get to the point where they are ready to admit how they feel, we go from Bratty!Tony and Patient!Steve to Jealous!Tony and Possessive!Steve and it is so good, and so hot, and by the time they finally get in bed, it's been building up to it for so long, you'll be feeling just as frustrated (and then satisfied) as Tony does.

I think this is a great beginner dom/sub fic, if you haven't ventured into that side of smutty fandom yet. I mean, it was my first, and now it's one of my favorite genres. But even if you've read a ton of dom/sub (even if you prefer sub Steve like I do), I highly recommend this fic. (Dom Steve is hot as fuck in this fic.)
