Woke up at 3.30 am today, couldn't sleep anymore so I decided somewhen that it may be a good idea to do some math practice problems, but didn't want to get out of bed.
The last couple days have been a bit stressful with interviews and presentation/debate sessions for a scholarship application. I have one last interview today just before noon and then I guess we'll see, I have no idea how good/bad/interesting the things I said were.

q: what is the worst vacation you have ever been on?
a: uhhh once when i had gone to india for a six week vacation, we were traveling between a bunch of different towns via bus, and i ate something expired and threw up 😣🥴 i was sick for a couple of days after that
apart from that, i wouldn’t say i’ve had any “bad” vacations—i’ve liked all of them!
Practice Problems On Ratio And Proportion | Solved Examples | Maths Nerd
Ever wondered how can we use the properties of ratio and proportion to solve relatable daily life problems? In this video, I'll teach how to solve different types of problems and questions on ratio and proportion that usually come in various exams.
Happy Wednesday everyone! Went to an organic chemistry SI session today. Might actually understand what’s going on in the class for once. Why does organic chemistry have to be so hard?
Today was a great day! So far, I’ve done four hours of math–rounding down, that’s 9 Pomodoros! (25 minutes each.) At 25 cents apiece, I get $2.25–but wait, there’s more! I also finished a section of math, bringing my total to $2.50! And that’s just for now.
I’m still a bit embarrassed to be learning pre-calculus at 22, but I’m hoping that will go away. Yes, I’m behind where I hoped I would be–but the important thing is that I’m moving forward.
I started a list of things to buy with my budget:
1) A binder – need this soon!
2) A good eraser – the one on my pencil just isn’t cutting it.
3) Paperclips – currently just stacking each set of papers in portrait then landscape mode, then repeat.
I did a section on solving algebraic inequalities (linear, quadratic and fractional). Although I’ve supposedly done pre-calculus before, I actually learned a lot! I took two pages of notes and did three pages worth of problems.
Here are my notes:
They aren’t great. I’ll try to do better tomorrow–go a bit more slowly and write down every example, not just one in each section.
Here’s my first attempt at homework, which quickly got messy because I didn’t understand the material and had to erase a lot:
I started over and ended up with these three pages:
As you can see, I got a bit cramped with the last problem, but I didn’t want to start a new page just for one problem.
I worked really hard on making the homework as legible/comprehensive as possible. I didn’t skip any steps. I tried to write it as if I were taking a test, but the real advantage here is that if I need to read over them later, it’ll be easy to understand.
I also started a separate sheet where I listed the mistakes I made. The two main ones:
1) At the beginning, I made many mistakes just from not understanding the material properly. I had to go back and look at the examples again to understand it better.
2) Then I started making many inattentive mistakes, mostly forgetting negative signs. I can probably solve this by taking breaks when I’m supposed to (ahem) and double-checking all negatives as I go.
Here’s what worked so well today:
1) I stuck to my routine. Breakfast, gym, shower. All very important stuff.
2) I had coffee for literally the first time in six years, folks. It was what I imagine Adderall feels like (I’m probably wrong about Adderall though.) It kept me wide awake and super productive. It also killed my appetite and made me a bit anxious, so I’m going to step down and just drink a strong tea tomorrow.
3) I’m excited! This studyblr stuff is exciting.
I’ll update later if I get more done, or tomorrow if I don’t!
