Not sure if this counts as urban. Keeling House was originally owned by Tower Hamlets Council but fell into such disrepair that the council was forced to sell to a private developer who converted it into expensive private housing.

At the end of the year, the CDC eviction moratorium is set to expire (landlords, police and cities have been evicting people anyway). 30-40 million people could face evictions. Lifted eviction moratoriums this year are responsible for an estimated 433,700 COVID-19 cases and 10,700 deaths from COVID-19.

Private-market housing kills people. Evictions kill people. Landlords, police, and the state kill people. Capitalism is a death machine that sacrifices humans for profit. Housing is a human right and every violation of it exposes people to greater harm for the sake of keeping a death machine operating.

Germany is sorely lacking in affordable apartments, and refugees remain largely overrepresented among those without private housing. People who have applied for or received asylum earn on average 43% less than the average German salary.
