im effectively LOSING IT im watching bones season eight which i dont think ive ever actually seen before and bones has a pro and con list of if she should run for president and booth says being a fugitive is a con and she goes “are you saying that you think i would be a bad canidate? because donald trump was thinking of running.” and this was 2012 i-
how to turn a girl into a pro-con list
the last time we spoke
you said you didn’t want
to see her anymore and when i asked
why
you started listing off
all of the things you once told me you loved about her.
well
let me tell you -
the cheating
the choosing
and all the rest of it,
none of it
scared me half as much as that did.
that you could fall out of love
at all is one thing but the fact that you did it
so quickly, without any notice
leaving her quiet in the bathtub
all knobby knees and
missing you - just as pretty
as ever -
that scared me
most of all.

i love my boyfriend but recently i feel like i 'enjoy' my friend's (male) company more and my friend just makes me feel more at ease when im stressed even though he doesnt try and my boyfriend tries hard to help me but he just cant. and the fact he doesnt need to try and succeeds more than my boyfriend is upsetting my boyfriend and makings even worse but i dont want to give up my friendship. am i wrong here? what should i do?
I’m not sure if you’re in the wrong, exactly? but I can understand why your boyfriend’s upset over this ): having an emotional connection in a relationship is so important?! it’s how you connect with each other and understand each other, it allows you to have a more meaningful and deep bond with each other, it creates trust and empathy because you’re allowing yourself to be vulnerable, it matters a lot. so if a relationship is only really about the happy times, and there isn’t much conversation about stress or sadness or more negative emotions? then the relationship can start to feel a little unbalanced or superficial, and not as meaningful.
it might sound really simple or cliche, but it could be worth writing a pro / con list? take a step back from both your relationship and your friendship for a moment, take some time to really think about what you think, how you feel, what you need in order to be happy. people underestimate pro / con lists, but they shouldn’t! it can be a really good way to untangle thoughts and to give you clarity, you can get some better understanding of how you feel and what you want.
so make two lists, one for your boyfriend and one for this friend. dedicate the left side to pros – why you want them in your life, good things about them that have a positive impact on your life? and then have the right side about cons – not so great things about them, any negative thoughts or feelings you’ve had about them which have had a lasting impact, things like that. obviously this situation can’t be completely solved by the number of dot-points on the pro list being bigger than the number of cons, I know it’s not always that simple. but it can help to organise thoughts, it can help bring to light things that you maybe weren’t aware of.
finally? write down any extra thoughts or feelings you have, ask yourself some seriously deep questions, make yourself think. some food for thought:
why do you think you feel you enjoy your friend’s company more lately over your boyfriend?
what is it that your friend does to make you safe and less stressed, that makes more of a difference than your boyfriend?
what do you want out of relationships?
why do you feel that your boyfriend isn’t able to calm you as well as the friend can in stressful situations? are you a very touch-orientated person and need hugs and the human touch to feel calm, and your boyfriend isn’t that way inclined / doesn’t like physical contact? is he just not a very empathetic person?
what qualities does a person need to have in order for you to be happy, content, safe, fulfilled in a relationship with them?
do you think you’ve maybe changed as a person and don’t have as much in common with your boyfriend now?
writing the pro / con list and writing down thoughts can help you decide what to do next, unfortunately I don’t think I can really help with that decision. if you genuinely love your boyfriend and want to be with him then stay in the relationship! fight for it, show him that you care so much about him, make him a priority in your life when you can. if you feel that you have changed as a person though and that you don’t have as much in common or connect as well with your boyfriend, it might be time to end the relationship. I hope this helps you out friend, all the best <3

Pros & Cons of User Tagging
Pros:
Studies show that patrons prefer keyword searches over subject searches. More natural language terms provided by tags (such as “light bulbs” instead of “electric lamp, incandescent”) will improve the user-friendliness of a catalog.
Tagging has a greater opportunity to be inclusive of marginalized communities. The language used by the Library of Congress can be archaic and, at times, outright offensive (see my post that mentions the term “illegal aliens”). Giving users the power to assign tags to books in the catalog allows for greater diversity in the classification of materials.
Tags adapt over time in a way that the Library of Congress can’t. Subject authorities in LC move slowly. Tags can be updated at the speed of your Internet connection.
It creates a sense of community. When patrons are able to participate in the creation of the catalog, and are actively involved in the library’s website, strong communities can be formed centering around the library.
Cons
It can be hard to standardize. For example, some patrons might use the tag “LGBT” where another would use “LGBTQ.”
There may be typos, redundancies, and overly personal tags (”to-read,” or “library book”).
A librarian (or librarians) would still need to check for trolls (although some tools, like BiblioCommons, have already taken that into account).
