I think I accidentally created a Tumblr group that developed language in a similar way to prehistoric humans

I created a Tumblr community (on December 28th) where nobody was allowed to use any established language whatsoever, I kind of just figured it would be a funny little thing with maybe some words developed well there's 133 members and.. I think it counts as a language now

Keep in mind there was no discussion about word meaning in outside of the group (as far as I'm aware) meaning this language was developed organically between people who didn't speak a shared language.

Some people had certain concepts about a word they were creating meaning but it naturally shifted as people had to interpret based off of where that person was using the word, till enough people interpreted it where it became common vocabulary with a broadly agreed upon definition.

(I would give a really good example of this but I don't want to spoil certain word meanings for people, If you're curious DM me)

Sure, Some people would just make random noises and I'm sure that was the same in prehistoric time, but over the common need to be able to communicate people in this community developed agreed upon words with definitions.

(Yes, I know some words created are basically just English but spelled wrong but that's the exception not the the rule, most words seem to be completely original)

The craziest thing of them all is I watched this language develop and know the exact roots of quite a few of these words, It genuinely does feel like caveman developing language In the way it happened!!

Children subjected to electroshock therapy (psychtober #3)

In order to move forward with psychology, we must acknowledge its past. Unfortunately, due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of mental illness this has often led to inhumane treatment of patients as well as horrific experiments. We are looking into this as part of psychtober.

Dr Lauretta Bender was a child neuropsychiatrist known for her inhumane experiments on children. She began giving children electroshock treatments in 1942 at Bellevue Hospital. She would diagnose them with autistic schizophrenia and believed that the electroshock would 'cure' them. One of the youngest children subjected to this was only three years old. As well ad this, she would give them drugs such as LSD just to see the effect they would have, Bender did this to over 300 children with funding from the CIA.

It is known now that the electroshock can cause memory loss, headaches, jaw pain, muscle aches and blood pressure increases of which occur during the therapy and can have implications in later life. The parents were not informed of the side effects. The children would be highly distressed, crying and begging them to stop to the point where they would need to be restrained. The children were forced into a procedure that caused them distress and pain, this is why it is noted as one of the most unethical studies.

Indeed, the children forced into these experiments experienced maladjustment in adulthood. One had become a multiple murder at age 20 and others were in and out of prison for both petty and violent crimes. Others suffered suicidal tendencies.
