Hi! Do one have to pay for kibbe ID analysis from you? Beacause i was wondering whats Thrax the virus from Osmosis Jones Kibbe ID could be? (I think he’s an soft dramatic or an dramatic, to much lesser degree; flamboyant natural, but my bet is on soft dramatic).
like most movie and animation baddies, a pure dramatic kibbe type in their signature long black coat. think keanu/neo, also pure D.
once you see the hollywood pattern, it's just glaring. always the black color + a harsh edge. all the film dramatics have it. fantasy, superhero genres, horror, they all exaggerate it so it's easy to spot.
D - FN - SD comparison time:
now, lets put thrax' slicing D shoulder line on another body type to check. many franchises will stuff a flamboyant natural actor into dramatic coats, but it becomes boxy, suffocating, dimming the face.
hard, dark shoulders sit terribly on anyone but D, FG, and DC. they awkwardly push upwards on adam's blunt yang frame. the relaxed long hair saves it, that suits FN. Ds rock swept back hair like thrax.
(detail: look at thrax' hands and wrist, very elongated, delicate, and narrow. pointing up. that's drama. adam driver has FN width in the palms and fingers. pointing sideways. that's natural.)
^absolutely massive, not wiry like dramatic at all. similarly, the cape we associate with kylo ren has less construction and heavier natural textures. that's why the snow scenes stood out so much. cold makes you bulk up the fabric. we spot FN villains by weighty costumes and their kibbe width in the rib/chest area.
thrax has a wide torso, but i'm not seeing rounded lines like soft dramatic or blunt edges like flamboyant natural elsewhere. only pointed, streamlined edges (look at his shoes). the face is also very narrow and defined, bone-dominant. reminds me of zaraki in bleach. that is maximum sharp yang:
an animated villain only won't be pure dramatic when curve comes in very obviously. hades in hercules: shoulders and chin and arms, very round, and the fabric drapes. not as rectangular and stiff.
yin brings flexibility, wave. eris from sinbad would be an SD villain: vertical, narrow, rectangular, and waist/hip/chest accommodation as the undercurrent.
cinching the waist has useless on a dramatic, they are so vertical and geometric that we don't need to nip anything in.
Kibbe nerds, which Kibbe type do you think suits me most? I'm 5'11" (181 cm) for reference (which means I am either pure Dramatic, Soft Dramatic, or Flamboyant Natural since I KNOW I have vertical and need to accomodate vertical, but I am not 100% sure if I need to accomodate curve or width as well as vertical).
dramatic type. vertical, angles, tall, narrow. estimated height matches, 6'0. narrow pointed chin, angular brows, longer nose, thin lips, long legs, even if he is dressed like a classic all his drawn characteristics point towards D. second option DC, however... the villain is almost always marked by being the dramatic.
always cartoonishly vertical with the sharp shoulders. and in a classic suit, because clothing for dramatic men is rarely designed, and (corporate) evil comes in a tux. and high contrast, bnw. hollywood has this pattern down like no other.
btw: johan feels like a more mellow version of castlevania where the dramatic type is represented everywhere with that pointed face and the low brows. one more vertical than the other!
^ alucard is a good example how a D type can also be an anti-hero or even a protagonist though: love when typecasting traditions are broken. as the inverse example, snowball = a rare romantic type antagonist. soft, small, rounded fuzzy yin lines. more R villains! sometimes, evil hides behind a cute, fluffy lil' thing.
Hi caro 🌱❤I just watched the matrix 1999( I know I'm super late) I was trying to figure out keanu's body type , ( he looked so baby girl and soft agh ) he reminds me of christian bale as patrick Bateman in the 6th pic . I think he might be a soft dramatic , and his co star carrie anna moss a pure D ? Have a lovely day ❤️
i could never decide between subtypes for keanu. his yin is only notably present in the upper body and fluctuates a lot. i.e., the changing physique and styles for roles during his career give me mixed signals. if that happens, i decide by what looks better and more on brand in terms of clothing.
his pure D type black outfits are his signature, matrix is his true breakout role. he's not an SD archetype there, that would be monica bellucci's styling. the head to toe dark suit without waist emphasis is the most like "him". that's why he can branch out to DC clothes, i.e. what he wears in daily life. the more severe, the better. straight, sleek, super dark hair makes keanu look best. high fashion, badass silhouettes, masculine, contrasted, tailored. keanu is so timeless because he doesn't dress against his type (e.g. long hair!). he always sticks to yang lines, like in john wick.
if you look at little buddha, the big curls, heavy makeup, and romantic-adjacent styling are worlds apart. a real SD could pull this off without looking like someone else, like SD bill skarsgard easily doing more decorated, androgynous clothing and drapes. but keanu is hard to recognize in this role. less detail/yin works better. that includes shaving (sharp yang) over beards (natural & romantic element). SD makes him look tacky, it's too much. while SD is the "too much" type to begin with! i do think he had the soft dramatic look when he was pre-kibbe typing age, but became more chiseled later.
result: keanu is actually a pure dramatic. which surprises no one given how his most famously recognized character is dressed in kibbe's D recs all the way.
Hi caro🌠 , I can't decide if ban is a FN or a SD , it's especially hard when it's a cartoon . His love interest Elaine is a soft gamine I presume . Have a lovely weekend 🌱🌹
ban could actually be a pure dramatic body type. his styling looks FG to fit the theme of seven deadly sins, but he's all vertical, straight lines, contrast, pointy edges. between FN and SD i would go for FN, he lacks yin softness and would have kibbe width in the anime. still, when i draw on top of his design, i see no bluntness. head to toe black is your telltale dramatic alarm bell. (also proves our "dramatics are matched with gamines" couple theory again)
as soon as a character walks in with the all black/all angles/all vertical head to toe with a white color contrast (hair in gojo's case), i know they're a dramatic type. my theory: everyone is into gojo because he's SO archetypally designed that it's universally accessible. plus, it's rare that a dramatic is not the villain. interesting subversion.
jojo's bizarre adventure, that is a true soft dramatic + flamboyant natural design. drapes and quiffs and tiny waists and broad chests and tank tops and ruffled hair and luxury color palettes. all paired with extreme vertical and extended lines. it's not a head to toe rectangle box like the pure dramatic gojo formula.
PS: ban's difficult case reminds me of grimmjow from bleach (6'1) - tough to gauge where between the big three (FN/SD/D) he falls, his stature is so inconsistent between manga-anime and arcs, plus he is dressed in a different ID than his yang body is (cropped lines are not exactly big 3, so they show off his physique). plus his shapeshifting gives him more blunt FN lines/the XXL-FN "mane".
bleach is dramatic-leaning generally (i love this series!! byakuya is my husband), nnoitra is the best example, as is aizen. since he's contrasted with gamine ulquiorra a lot, grimmjow might be pure dramatic too, despite all else. extreme vertical, sharp shoulders with bnw scheme, asymmetric face detailing. again, spike yang hair, sharp chin. his "wild beast" theme is FN, but his lines say D. his triangular skirt with the dropped waist, very D-type. see how ulquiorra is angular like him but compact? gamine juxtaposition.
Wow. I was really cringe with this paragraph..how did you even put up with this. My god the embarrassment 😭😭
no worries, i didn't cringe 😊 i'm not a native speaker myself, just a writer on the internet. i've penned it all, any fantasy i've seen. language serves to make us get a concept and we can be passionate with it, the rest is secondary, clarity and emotion are first👍🏼 a close-minded person would bother me, or someone not offering substance at all, a grey rock. you aren't any of that dear visitor 💓
now, as for our kibbe types theory of who's attracted to who (our favorite topic here, it's requested often 🥰). dramatic classic seems to be an ID you admire: it's usually the gamines or yin types that like the DC/D kind of people, just like more romantic-influenced body types or soft classics often idolize naturals and the other way around.
DC is a type that is polished, dry-cut, geometric, medium to tall height, and symmetric. i do think that can create a cold or cool image, the dramatic undercurrent gives an edge. gamines are the more animated, smaller, and unconventional IDs. opposites often attract :) let's test it.
kim taehyung probably appeals to you, he's very much the DC posterboy, with his personality the opposite of what his ID is about. DC is a strict lawyer typecast, a doctor, a politician, while kth is fashionably unorthodox and thinks outside boxes of society. still, he is as elegant, easy on the eye, and angular as all classics are. you look for a dark, icy palette, he's a winter type. black color = his strong suit. i also love winters. such crisp hues.
if he's your type, i'm curious whether the theory might be applicaple to anticipate who someone finds attractive in terms of kibbe generally.
you say, who doesn't this perfect man appeal to. but on me, taehyung never had an effect of "F**K he's so my guy, i would abandon it all" even if i think he's 100% flawless, and very cute on top. kibbe explains it: he's simply too close to my own type 😅 i see high-contrast, sharp yang angularity and height in the mirror daily.
unless we go for safe, type-adjacent familiarity, we often follow the ole nosy call of early evolution to refresh the pool rather than inbreed or stagnate - "wait a minute, the other tribe over there 👀" (not to be confused with people on a racist power trip, which becomes exlusionary rather than healthily curious once again 💀) - so even if one's social class matches, we can fancy someone whose visual world and height impression is different without it being conscious.
example: i am pure dramatic at 5'9, and i noticed - fully learning kibbe late into this - that my biases in groups are 70% gamine types 😭 granted, gamine IDs are very common in kpop, XG's cocona being a prime example, but many groups also have more natural types among them, some D-influenced visuals, my favorite taemin is a TR obviously, i also love idols that are my type, etc. but i've picked many gamines out without even noticing the pattern. to be fair, their style range makes them hard to miss. much like lady gaga, who's also a (flamboyant) gamine icon of mine, cocona keeps getting more and more confidently fashion-forward SG with time 🥰
even my first favorite actor and movie crush was zac efron. we all know what transformation he went through over the years: many gamine men long to be the type opposite themselves (N, the athlete archetype), similar to people with straight hair wanting curls and vice versa. just like us dramatics wish for romantic curves and waists - to me, impossible since 3 decades, so i embrace my vertical with long italian-style coats ☺️🧥 - gamines sometimes wish for natural blunt width; maximum toned muscle and shoulder focus at basically any pain and cost.
we see the transformation potential here, how far and diverse gamines can go, and how culturally relevant this ID can be, no matter how petite, leaving insecurity behind. outstyle the haters vibes 🔥 these IDs have such a great mix of being both very masc and/or femme - but also a genderless appeal altogether. because they are a mix of body types in one, G types are always strong in the versatile fashion department. my biases all have a knack for being able to go bold and detailed, the 180 degree turn from pure classic essentially, and they're all so pretty.🌷
Before I present you more points and proves of him being dramatic classic (it is also intuition), I want to say something that I have been observing and it is that..kibbe body archetype isn't purely on physique but also the vibes and the energy the person brings.
Johan is a serial killer, and unlike other antagonist..He is surprisingly very likable, polite and charming gentleman. No one would look at him and say that there is something wrong or he looks too striking or any of that feelings. People would mostly think of him as a classic blonde gentleman who is very mindful and is socially acceptable (he literally uses this to his advantage). Also please be known that he is only 20, and if we have to goes by the real life kibbe rule the his body has yet to fully matured to be any kibbe archetype.
While dramatics are antagonist in most movies or even anime, they have a striking features which come off as a strong presence and while Johan has a strong presence whenever he wants, his presence isn't bold like a typical villian but on the contrary more gentler, serene or even ethereal...
But...it might not be glamorous, which dramatics can be, they pull of noice and I would certainly not imagine Johan like that. Johan no doubt for sure has dramatic essence but it is very refined not as loud as pure dramatics. If he have to dress like a textbook villian, he will look so out of place.
Johan has more of a chiseled appearance, he can look so cold when stop smiling and his eyes doesn't not held any warmth at all. He almost has a physique like Kim Taehyung. He sure does has a little width in his shoulder or moderate, yang height (almost 6'1), very angular face but still kind of have a classic vintage look. If he stand still without a movement, people would think of he is a literal statue and I don't think pure dramatics can do that.
Yess💋🧚
He doesn't have a dark gloomy villian look like hades from Disney ( I don't remember others 😭). He looks very put together, even without suits he has this 💅✨
Thank you ❣️
it's named "image" identity for a reason, david kibbe became more and more abstract about body types with the years. that's why he doesn't truly care about height limits, just aura 😩 i guess that's what happens after you master typing by eye. you start to extrapolate and go by imagination/what kind of reputation a character has.
the issue i have with "typing by vibes, not physicality" is: how a person comes across is subjective, while height/age/width/length can be quantified. that makes us sure of consensus. if a 5'0 gamine has a sporty vibe, that doesn't make them FN. just like wearing R dresses doesn't make me a romantic, but only suggests yin as a top layer on my yang body.
on the other hand, kibbe's 'vibe typing' IS often right on the money by movie standards, since his work roots in old hollywood tropes that still influence us. classic villains appear plain, bland, non-gloomy, non-showy, not extravagant or glamorous at all... only to be revealed as a killer: banality of evil. in that case, johan fits the 'image'.
david writes how Cs do not stand out, seem cold, and the gentleman might be an epithet for this type, like "the first lady" for women in his book. but i do think that C clothes are sometimes used to signal fake innocence on characters of a different ID. for instance, norman bates is dressed like a pure C, simply, totally plain. safe blank slate. nothing can be projected onto him. or suspected. (see how i'm interpreting here, not typing by his lines?)
anthony perkins however is a 6'2 flamboyant natural underneath, far above the height limit for DC even, we see extreme kibbe width and a powerful frame in private life photos. not moderate at all, more beastly strong. a classic's shoulder line would be far more parallel to the hips. the clothes fooled us viewers, too. hitchcock wins.
bates' vertical already showed in the film. that was the hint, next to the dark colors of course. he towered over others. but it is only at the end of the movie that we do see him dressed as his true type: clever. the big reveal, totally unravelled/deconstructed.
not sure if johan also has another "surprise type" underneath. we would have to catch the hint there, too.
in your images, i see inconsistent animation, as i said i prefer typing manga material where only one author portrays and shapes the character. one time he has vertical, then width, then narrowness, then round sloped shoulders, then prominent features, next time he doesn't. (the only type as flexible as that is supposed to be gamine!)
still, since you are better acquainted your typing likely has more base in experience watching the show. kibbe also says to type people as they move, which i only subscribe to sometimes - my way of analysing is still getting a full frontal head to toe picture in tighter > loose clothes. entirely opposite approach from yours, i know 😉 there are two types of kibbe typists. i go by the millimeter: if johan is 6'1, he has to be big 3. my height benchmark is, no classics above 6'0.
Hi caro hope you're doing fine❤☀️ , you know nicholas braun who played Greg hursh in succession ( his character is in a kind of homo erotic relationship with Matthew mcfayden's character , he compared themselves to Nero and sporus lol ) you said matthew was a pure D , I was wondering if nicholas might be Flamboyant gamine ( he has a typical D height ( 2,01 m) though , maybe it's not a problem because lil Nas X is also really tall for a FG ?) His face looks way too innocent/gaminish not imposing like a typical D . Thanks again 🌹💕
he's a Dramatic type with a Pure Classic wardrobe which makes him come across different. at 2 meters height any other kibbe ID than FN/SD/D is ruled out automatically. he's the tallest among any cast, no way he doesn't have primary vertical. it's the gamines and romantics who are supposed to be the shortest on the red carpet!
dark, flat, contrasting hair looks great on him, and he is narrower than a flamboyant natural would be. FN beards and leather fabrics with wide tailoring don't suit his frame at all, i am sure he is sharp yang. i don't think he has the guileless/teenage gamine type of look. you'd expect more rounded facial features.
lil nas x might actually be a mistyped Soft Dramatic, which would explain his successful met gala looks and ability to do long sleek hair. SD does glitz and glam like no other, and i think he does have the narrow D skeleton plus yin facial features to pull it off. he is rather toned, i don't rule out FN. still, bold yang-leaning looks suit him.
the sharp shoulders and head to toe color makes for a good signature look. SD can do lavish and luxe, lil nas x has the range for that. gamines would have to do a shorter vertical like cropped pants and shorter sleeves to ace this kind of outfit.
