maybe a violent take of mine but regardless of whatever opinions one has about the new mdzs revisions, i hope you (@ the fandom) do realize that even if there was love between them, it doesn't mean that lan xichen and lan wangji were not born of violence. they were. it doesn't matter that they were in love or whatever (and i hate this. but unimportant to the point) she was locked up in the fucking gentian house and kept in there her entire life until she died and we don't even know what her personality was like for someone who killed qingheng-jun's teacher. like you do understand that this is a forced captivity situation anyway right. why are people calling this sweet and reassuring that "the jades were not born of violence" YES THEY WERE. who the fuck cares about whether they were in love or not

Im thinking of writing an au where Madam Lan survives and manages to escape WITH both of her sons. Lan Zhan is too young to remember much of his life in Gusu Lan - but Lan Huan, three years A-Zhan’s elder is not. In particular Lan Huan remembers the friend he’d made in the heir to Qinghe Nie Sect, Nie Mingjue. 

So yes, a fic where the twins jades are raised by their mother as rogue cultivators and Nielan have the whole childhood friends to lost friends dynamic. Madam Lan dies in the beginnings of the war with Wen Ruohan. The twins jades join the fight but don’t align themselves to any sect.  It’s been like 18 years so the twins jades’ faces have changed enough that they aren’t instantly recognisable. 

Madam Lan taught her sons to not trust the Great Sects so Lan Wangji goes to see if the rumours about the Yiling Laozu hold any truth, whilst Lan Xichen tries to get closer to the leaders of the Great Sects to see what information he can get from them about the specifics of the war. Unfortunately, Lan Xichen accidentally catches the eye of Nie Mingjue - who he’s been trying to avoid - who catches onto the fact that Lan Xichen is hiding things and is suspicious as fuck. Both of them are now circling each other (keep your friends close and your enemies closer etc.) and trying to ignore the rising affection between them as the war progresses. 

In the Burial Mounds Lan Wangji accidentally falls in love with the Yiling Laozu. 

The fic would probably be nielan focused with wangxian in the background (maybe a separate fic for the ) but I need ideas for like the specifics of it? Please help if you can!!

(For Madam Lan I was thinking the name Li Yawen ( 李雅雯 - 李 is her surname meaning 'plum' and 雅雯 is her given name meaning 'graceful cloud'). I am not Chinese so if anyone could comment on whether the name is appropriate, I would greatly appreciate it!)
