DID YOU KNOW: Aaliyah was looking into attending Columbia or New York University?

June 2, 2000, Aaliyah had a sit down radio interview with Japanese pop singer, Hikaru Utada and in their conversation HIkaru mentions "college", and Aaliyah briefly shared the two colleges she had her eyes on.

No disrespect to the interviewer, but, so many questions and oppurtunities to obtain details about the person ON YOUR SHOW were missed in this interview (if you ask me).

Aaliyah herself volunteered that information. Perhaps the singer was starstruck and nervous because it's... AALIYAH! In that case, I understand, because even TANK shared how his mind went blank when Aaliyah asked him a question (he shared that he was caught up in her beauty and charm).

I applaud Aaliyah (21 at the time with the WORLD at her feet) putting education first and being that positive role model many of us needed then (and still need today).

At one stage you said she’s ‘tolerant — incredibly tolerant, unbelievably tolerant, possibly a candidate for sainthood’...So how tolerant is she? I mean, how tolerant does she need to be?? Are you a wild boy??” Alan Rickman: “No… I ...I mean—”(as if about to interject and Ian chuckles knowingly)“Anybody who shares a life with an actor has a lot to put up with..I think.. we’ll leave it at that. She is also remarkably intelligent — rather than just tolerant.” Ian Dempsey : “All right, okay…”
