Game of Thrones 4.1 Two Swords (2014)
Season 8?
Ok but tragic events aside can we talk about how Dany singlehandedly destroyed all the weapons that could kill a dragon as well as the iron fleet? Like where was that energy when Raeghal was alive ? WHere was it when Misandei was alive ???? D&D be rushing so much I got whiplash smh
Good lord. I have so much to say about 8x04 final scene.
Tyrion has basically told Cersei, in front of everyone, bitch you’re pregnant, stop this madness aye? It’s just useless nonsense and none of us need it. You can raise your child in peace, you’ll live with them and you’ll get a second chance. Cersei doesn’t even address him, she goes to Missandei and gives Dany the vague hope that Tyrion has actually managed to change her mind, as she tenderly takes her arm in her hand. Then, softly, Cersei tells Missandei that the time for her execution has come, and by doing so she basically replies to Tyrion I’m not pregnant (hence, I don’t care if you come after me). Or, I don’t care for a future where my little baby is a slave of a fucking Targaryen queen, because I only want what’s best for him. (Remember when she was prepared to kill both herself and Tommen? She values her babies lives, but she treasure their lifestyle more than their lives)
So, obviously, she goes full queen Cersei mode. She kills Missandei with nothing but a look, she doesn’t need words to take a life. Deep down I believe she knows she’s going down and I’m rather sure she doesn’t mind it, she’s ready. But she first wants to take Daenerys down emotionally, by tearing her apart and forcing her to turn exactly into what Daenerys now hates the most: Cersei. Cersei took Missandei’s life, Rhaegal’s life and she could even have taken Drogon’s life back there, he was in the open, on the ground, mourning, defenseless. Cersei had like, twenty huge crossbows to take him down with but nope. She’ll do it slowly so that Daenerys can burn in her pain, which by the way is the only thing that truly burns the Unburnt.
In the final shot, the camera is showing Cersei bottom-up because she has just finished her power display. Plus I believe she’s somewhat punishing Daenerys for “taking her two brother away” from her. She’s punishing her by showing her that everything she believed in — no chains, cool ruling, no casualties and all those fairy tales about fair ruling and peace— is impossible to achieve. And Dany is falling right in her game, she’s becoming a “mad queen”, just like Cersei. And so it goes, you either play the game or you die.
I love her.
Yes, I am still thinking about Game of Thrones
I was rewatching The Long Night, because why the hell not and of course it brought up issues I had with season 8 as a whole. So Daenerys as we know agrees to help fight against the white walkers and their army of the dead, because it’s the right thing to do. Maybe a small part of her does do it for self preservation and to win over the North, but I truly think she does it more from the heart, because she genuinely wants to help. Even after entering the North, when all the Northerners give her dirty looks and Sansa gives her the cold shoulder, Daenerys STILL stays to help fight for the living. She very well knows Sana’a doesn’t like her and that the Northerners will side more with the Starks, regardless if she stays and fights for them or not. And yet she stays, and fights, and loses her dear friend and a large part of her army, which she knew would happen.
And this is why her burning Kings Landing to the ground makes no sense. At least not that quickly. You don’t go from risking your life, saving people who oppose you, to burning innocent lives. Yes, she lost her dragon and most trusted advisor/friend, that doesn’t make you burn a whole city. It just makes no logical sense. As I’ve said before, I’m not upset that they decided to go the “Mad Queen” route. I’m upset that they rushed her character into it, making her actions random and confusing. Daenerys becoming the Mad Queen could’ve been enjoyable had they made it believable. She’s always made impulsive decisions, but with reason, burning a city to the ground was out of character and season 8 really just took so many of Daenerys food quality’s away.
Not even the dragon has recovered! Can’t they see that?! 🤦🏼♀️😪
