some latin phrases that aren't quite the usual metaphors but have interesting metaphorical potential:

ok i hate ai-generated slop as much as the next person (i even wrote this anti-ai post) but accusing random authors of using it because they write a particular way is NOT the way to go. don't forget these bots literally output the way they do in part because huge swaths of fanfic (and original literature) were stolen to train them. yes i use em dashes and proper grammar in my fics, and you can pry those things out of my cold, dead hands

finding new fandom friends through reading fanfic and interacting is just the BEST. it's all fellow people who are also obsessed enough with a fictional world to spend hours of their life writing about it and...yeah. and meeting people by reading each other's smut? even better!!

when i write my fictional characters, i feel like both a historian recording real events that happened and an actor playing a role at the same time. maybe that's how hours evaporate without my noticing

ive noticed i cant really use traditional writing prompts. like, i look at a broad prompt and my brain just...goes nowhere. on the other hand, if i start with a fascinating character detail...ohohohoho

putting ideas into a machine and tweaking what it spits out doesn't make you a writer. and it doesn't make you better at the actual task of writing: learning how to measure your ideas, to bring them to life through words, how to spill them across the page, free-flowing yet meticulously contained.  The only way to get better at that is to do it.

i love making heroes so heroic that they're creepy. like, holy shit you really turn into a killing machine when your "saving-people-thing" kicks in, don't you? and you don't even blink or take a second glance at that sea of dead bodies you just left behind. now that's interesting
