My apartment complex keeps doing this thing where they slide a notice under your door like "We are doing a check of your apartment smoke detectors on <date 3 days from now>" and "please ensure all pets are secured outside the apartment". Like...how tf do you expect me to do that in THREE DAYS?
making friends via fandom is inherently hilarious because in many ways it's like a regular friendship and sometimes you'll share stuff that's going on in your lives and offer support and talk about food or pets or random cultural stuff because you live on opposite sides of the damn planet, but also some of your interactions are like "hello beloved friend whom I cherish deeply, I have brought you a deceptively platonic gift of lovingly crafted star wars porn"
Another translation from the Radiant Mythology 3 Fan Bible! This one is for Yuri's profile, rather than an in game skit.
TL notes:
Claire is saying she’s losing confidence because Yuri’s cooking/baking is so good (implying she thinks she can’t compare to his skill).
Zelos literally uses a term, in reference to Yuri's chest, that means things like captivating, alluring, charming, enchanting, and bewitching. Zelos is talking it up like Yuri’s purposely being sly to be a ladykiller and that he finds the “tactics” detestable.
(Scanner preferred to remain anonymous.)
Original JP + TL under the cut.
What kind of person is Yuri?
Marta: Even though he acts tough, he's actually kind and calm. Yuri really does seem like an adult~. ♥
Claire: On top of that, his specialties in cooking are cakes, parfaits, and sweets in general. It makes me lose confidence.
Marta: It's not uncommon for men to love sweets, but he makes them himself and is really skilled at it! The unexpectedness of it is what makes him so charming~. ♥
Yuri: Not really. I just wanna eat tasty foods ‘cause I like them. Right, Leon?
Leon: Don’t bring me into this! I told you I don't like sweet things!
Yuri: So you say, but well, I guess not being stubborn like that is what adults are like.
Leon: Ghh…!
Marta: How adult! Just like I thought, Yuri’s so cooool! I want Emil to follow his example.
Zelos: … …Dammit! This is turning out just like I thought it would, after all!
Keele: I thought I heard a ruckus. It’s you. What’s going on?
Zelos: I don't know what to do! It’s that Yuri guy! Long hair, good looking, captivating chest, no reservations. He’s the same as me when it comes to all the best parts! On top of liking sweet things, he pulls off these subtle, detestable tactics as a ladykiller?!
Keele: So?
Zelos: As someone who’s captivated his female fans, I have to rise up and take him on, right?!
Keele: How about you just talk all you want, and once you’re satisfied, please shut your unreserved mouth.
Really love the writing communities we've built in both the Tales and Yugioh fandoms. It's really special to see authors coming together to hype each other up and get hyped up in return, to share ideas and wips and tag memes. It's amazing feeling like we all respect each other and see each other as equals and whatnot, which is why I'm trying to get better at leaving comments on the things I read lol
someone on twitter is trying to claim that use of an em-dash is an indication of AI-generated writing because it’s “relatively rare” for actual humans to use it. skill issue
Twitter theory about em dashes usage grossly untrue: the average author uses an excessive abundance of em dashes.
Scarcity is manufactured by editors who are forced to confiscate em dash usage because that run on sentence now requires its own zip code and they are begging you to use any other form of punctuation.
