Them: In order for your characters to be smart and witty, you as the author need to be smart and witty
Me: well my characters are severally traumatized soooooo…
As a bilingual, Idk if I should love or hate the fact that I have a different humour depending on the language I’m using… the problem is, when my local friends started to converse mainly English—which in enough itself started as a joke—we still used the same humour/jokes from our local tongue.
So to the people I interact with online, I’m so sorry if I suddenly make an awkward joke or a reference that didn’t land… it’s not you it’s me 🤧😆
