People like to judge me without knowing my past, just because they think they know my present. When I was 19 I made the commitment to stop drinking cold-turkey and end the cycle of alcoholism. That same year I met my now Husband, who got me away from my abusive ex. A couple years later I admitted that my ex had abused me physically, psychologically, emotionally, and sexually, and stopped speaking with him all together. A couple years after that, I got psychologically stable. A couple years after that, I have completed therapy for PTSD, seen my kid @sean_holley graduate, get a job, and get ready to go to college, and stood up for myself and stopped speaking with our abusive, alcoholic father. I have come a long way. It may have taken me over a decade, working the Program and other therapies, but today I can say I'm proud of who I am. I still have things to work on. I still have room to grow. But alhamdulillah every day for Allah ta'ala being my Noor and guiding me all the way through. I finally feel like I have a fresh start, and I'm excited rather than terrified about what the future might hold. . .
