short answer:

I don't know for sure! But I have my suspicions

less short answer:

i think tumblr suddenly got mad at a few blank blogs i hadn't deleted after trying to find a url (this includes the precursor to the still-active @ crowmottle1, @ crowmottle). They all included "c" and "ottle" in one way or another, and the guideline against "blog squatting" is the only one I could see my situation upsetting. I deleted these blogs before making @ smudge-budge but it was restricted within the first 24 hours of making @ smudge-budge. I began doing a lot of posting within those 24 hours, so that may have been a mistake on my part as well.

longer answer:

I've had the account @ crowbottle was connected to for going on 14 years (i am old). My main account is my unorganized horde of media with a few auxillary blogs for other interests which has stood without issue or restriction for the past 14 years until the quiet removal of @ crowmottle within a week of its creation back in July 2025.

I made @ crowbottle in early 2025 knowing i wanted to make digital art but i didn't commit to it until the Spamtenna brainworm took the wheel. That was back in August 2025. @ crowbottle chugged along uninterrupted until it was taken down without warning first in the early hours of 1/1/2026, reinstated 1/3/2026, and then disappeared for good the morning of 1/7/2026.

Maybe tumblr did a bit of an end of year inventory and got mad at me? I'm still not sure.

Since then, my spicy blog, @ crowthrottle, and replacement blog, @ smudge-budge, have also been restricted. Puzzlingly, no other blog has been affected.

I've never had any sort of flag or communication from staff about breaking any of tumblr's guidelines prior to the initial restriction. When trying to inquire on Reddit about my blogs (@ crowbottle and @ crowthrottle) being restricted and removed, I was banned without any specifics on which community guideline I broke.

Regardless of why, this has been a pretty embarrassing and frustrating situation. I feel bad for spamming people about the change and can't help but think I could have been more graceful preventing or handling the whole thing.

But I'm ready to start over. I actually remember thinking to myself: it's gonna be so fun to build my base back up! (for those wondering, Last I remember, my follower count was at 696 ((nice)), so it'll be neat to see how close I get this time around~)

I understand not wanting children to have access to explicit, unsafe material but this was a TERRIBLE way to inforce that. A bill like this will never be reversed, only pushed more and its likely they'll get more extreme with their censorship. You know the saying 'strict parents raise sneaky kids?' Kids will get vpns, children will go on more unsafe, hardcore unblocked sites to access porn. People (especially bitter, angry, desperate children) break laws. People having to put in their faces, ids, drivers licenses, whatever the fuck into sketchy sites is a large scale security risk. Anyway according to my vpn i live in the Netherlands.
