echo clinging to rex any chance he gets since rex is the last from the 501st to still be around, the comfort he feels every time rex enters the room (or echo enters where rex is) and his shoulders relaxing.

i’m kind of a light recho shipper myself, bc i love the unrequited longtime yearning, “fell first, fell harder” trope. echo always watching rex from across the room and trying to be subtle about it, seeing women (and sometimes even men) approaching and flirting with him and feeling a pang of jealousy in his chest, his stomach tightening. because that’ll never be him.

knowing that rex can and probably does take home many people to romp in the sheets and having to pretend like it doesn’t bother him. and he can’t say anything because he should be okay with it because rex isn’t his, and rex deserves the chance to unwind and find companionship, even if it’s temporary.

not being able to spill his guts to rex about how out of all of the people in the world, he’s the only one that finally makes his thoughts go quiet and feel peaceful. his rejection sensitive dysphoria going absolutely nuts and feeling like he just can’t and doesn’t fit in anywhere, but then rex pops up and everything is immediately better.

echo having to work out healthy relationships and making sure his attachment to rex isn’t an anxious one, which when he does, almost makes the intensity of his genuine feelings for him that much more intense.

so then when it happens and rex finally realizes that he, too, has feelings for echo, and they’re alone in a room or on their ship and the air is thick with mutual pining to the point where either clone can’t handle not holding and kissing the other for a moment longer.
