A.I. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (2001) - Visual world
DIRECTOR: Steven Spielberg CINEMATOGRAPHER: Janusz Kaminski
PRODUCTION DESIGNER: Rick Carter
Jurassic Park Visitors Center. Favorite movie had such awesome Production Design by the amazing Rick Carter. The design of this building immediately set a tone for the entire film and gave a unique personality to the whole island. A perfect centerpiece. I simplified it and added a bit of playfulness in my own style, but I think it still works. What do you think?
Lincoln (Steven Spielberg, 2012).

Steven Spielberg: “It was the beginning of, really, the digital era where the central characters were digitally created. No one had ever gone there before that way. /
Steven Spielberg: “Jurassic Park is a cautionary tale. We stand on the shoulders of giants to create the next great thing, and yet we take no responsibilities for our own creations. But it’s an old, timeworn science fiction story. It’s what brought Godzilla up from the depths. You mess with atomic energy, you get Godzilla. /
Rick Carter: There’s a lot of dark themes in Jurassic Park that are about, you know, unleashing Pandora’s box. As it turns out, it’s not only genetic engineering, which is a theme in the movie, it’s actually the digital revolution coming out right from behind the fence.
Spielberg (2017, Susan Lacy)
