Could you do a reading on his current energy? Does he genuinely feel remorse, and do you see him offering a more sincere or deeper apology in the future? Before I even get into the cards, let me say this clearly: anyone defending this, get off my page.
That word is not some random harmless nickname. We know what it means. Koreans know what it means. Even if people want to argue that younger people now use it casually to refer to something dark, tan, cute, or whatever else, that does not erase where the word comes from.
It was created as a derogatory word for Black people. That is the foundation of the word. So I do not care if people now try to soften it or use it “affectionately.” Why are you comfortable using a word that comes from anti-Black racism in the first place?
It is the same logic as any other slur. You do not get to say, “well, it used to mean that, but now I use it differently.” That is not how this works.
If I called myself an anti-Asian slur because of my eye shape and then said, “well, I’m not using it against Asian people, I’m using it jokingly toward myself,” nobody would accept that. And they shouldn’t. So I’m not accepting this either.
Now, as for the reading, I asked how he actually feels about the controversy. Not what the apology said. Not what the company wants people to believe. I wanted to know what the energy actually looked like.
The first card was the King of Wands reversed.
To me, this feels like somebody who wants to take action but feels blocked. The King of Wands is usually action, confidence, control, leadership, and the ability to move how you want to move. Reversed, it feels like frustration. It feels like not being able to say what you want to say or do what you want to do.
At first, I wondered if this meant he wanted to fix the situation because he genuinely felt bad. But the rest of the cards did not support that.
For clarification, I got the Knight of Pentacles and the Knight of Swords.
The Knight of Swords is very much “I have something to say.” It is communication, explanation, response, wanting to speak quickly and directly. But with the Knight of Pentacles, there is also caution, calculation, and strategy. So this does feel like he wanted to say more than he was allowed to say, or he wanted to handle the situation differently than the company allowed.
However, I do not think that was coming from deep guilt.
The Queen of Pentacles being involved is what makes this feel financial to me. That card feels like the fans, the support system, the people who invest in the group, the people who buy albums, stream, show up, and help keep the career stable.
So this does not feel like:
“I hurt my Black fans, and I feel genuinely ashamed.”
It feels more like:
“This is affecting the support. This is affecting the money. This is affecting the stability.”
The Five of Wands is obviously the controversy itself. Fans arguing. People being angry. People defending him. People calling him out. The situation becoming bigger, louder, and harder to control.
Then the Knight of Cups feels like wanting to smooth things over. Wanting to emotionally appeal to people. Wanting to be forgiven. Wanting to calm the situation down.
But I do not read that as pure remorse. I read it more as damage control.
It feels like he knew the apology that was given was not going to fix much. It feels like he wanted to say more because he believed he could repair the situation better if he was allowed to speak the way he wanted to. But that does not mean the motivation was genuine care for the people hurt by what he said.
When I asked if there was actual guilt there, the answer did not feel like yes.
The energy feels like he cares because this is affecting the group, the fans, the public image, and the money. Not because he is sitting there devastated that Black fans were hurt or made to feel disrespected.
Then I asked how the other RIIZE members feel about the situation, and honestly, this spread surprised me.
For Wonbin, I got The Fool.
To me, this feels like Wonbin sees it as ignorance and stupidity more than intentional malice. The Fool is acting without thinking, moving carelessly, not considering the consequences before doing something. So I feel like if you asked Wonbin directly, his energy would be more like, “you weren’t thinking.”
But that still acknowledges that the word means something.
Because if it truly meant nothing, there would be nothing to call stupid. The Fool does not excuse it. It just says he may view it as a reckless, ignorant mistake rather than something done with the intention of hurting Black people.
For Anton, I got the Three of Pentacles.
This does not feel like Anton has turned against him. If anything, this feels like teamwork, collaboration, and trying to figure out how to move forward. I do not think this negatively affected their dynamic in a major way.
This could be Anton feeling like, “we need to work through this as a team,” or even him helping behind the scenes with how to handle the situation. If there is ever a stronger apology or better response, I would not be shocked if Anton had some hand in helping him understand how to communicate it better.
It does not feel like Anton is looking at him like, “I’m done with you.” It feels more practical than that.
Shotaro’s energy was the strongest, though.
Ima be honest, I don’t even think he likes him lmfaooooo. he fees like he refuses to self reflect whenever he does something fucked up or ignorant.
For Shotaro, I got the Knight of Swords reversed and Judgment reversed.
That is not light energy.
The Knight of Swords reversed is reckless words, careless communication, saying something insensitive, moving without thinking, and causing damage through your mouth. Judgment reversed is refusing to properly hold yourself accountable, refusing to reflect, or not wanting to fully look at what you did.
So Shotaro’s energy feels much more upset.
It feels like he sees it as, “you said something reckless and offensive, and now you do not even want to fully acknowledge what was wrong about it.”
And honestly, Shotaro’s energy was the only one that really “popped in” strongly when I was reading. Like he genuinely felt like he had something to SAY about this.
Because the way he came through to me was basically:
“I understand why people are angry because I’ve experienced this type of thing too.”
No, being Japanese in Korea is not the same as being Black. But what he was showing me was that he understands the experience of people saying offensive shit and then acting like you are overreacting for not finding it funny.
It felt VERY personal to him.
Like he was showing me memories or feelings of people making jokes, comments, stereotypes, or saying slick offensive things toward him too, and everybody acting like:
“you’re being sensitive.”
And the anger I got from him was specifically toward that mindset.
That’s why the Judgment reversed stood out so strongly to me. Because it feels like, to him, the most irritating part is not even just the original comment. It’s the refusal to FULLY acknowledge why it was offensive
For Sungchan, I got the Knight of Wands and the Three of Wands reversed.
This feels like irritation, impatience, and frustration with how the situation is affecting forward movement. The Knight of Wands is reactive, heated, and impulsive energy. The Three of Wands reversed is delays, setbacks, plans not moving forward smoothly, and things being held up.
So with Sungchan, I do not know if the anger is fully moral or more about the disruption, but he does seem annoyed. It feels like, “now this is creating problems for everyone.” He may be more focused on how this controversy affects the group’s momentum, schedules, image, or future plans.
For Sohee, I got The Emperor and the Two of Pentacles reversed.
This feels like someone trying to stay controlled and composed while also feeling like the situation is messy and difficult to balance. The Emperor is structure, authority, discipline, control, and “we need to handle this properly.” But the Two of Pentacles reversed is imbalance, stress, too much going on, and things becoming hard to manage.
So Sohee’s energy feels like he is trying to be mature or controlled about it. Less emotional, more like, “we need order, we need structure, we need to get this under control.”
Overall, the members do not all seem to feel the same way.
Wonbin seems to view it as ignorant and careless.
Anton seems more focused on teamwork and helping things move forward.
Shotaro seems genuinely bothered and not okay with it.
Sungchan seems frustrated by the disruption and consequences.
Sohee seems like he is trying to stay composed and handle the chaos maturely.
But Shotaro’s energy stood out the most as the one that felt personally offended or deeply unimpressed.
