Storm Rising Stuff
So, hold on. People have been clamouring for real Mercy lore for years. Literal years. Who is she beyond her parent’s death? Who found her after the Omnic attack on Zurich? Did she meet a few members of Overwatch before joining? How was she doing when she was the head of a whole hospital as a young prodigy? What was her work after Overwatch fell? What was her bond with the Lindholms? Was she adopted, officially or spiritually?
Now we find out through Storm Rising none of that really matters.
All what does is: how did she and Genji meet? Are they a thing, did they date, are they still dating, will we finally have Mercy lore now that she’s practically Genji’s gf? (After 2 real-time years of nothing, btw) How can she fly on her own in the past and now no? How can she lift a whole person without losing breath, can she still do that? How can Genji be already at peace when he didn’t meet Zeny yet just one year after Retribution? How are we told Mercy was constantly at odds with her Superiors when in every appearance she just follows orders without any questions? Genji this, Genji that?
Apparently Mercy was a really lonely soul because of her high intellect and only Genji can understand her®. Despite us clearly seeing her bond with Tracer and her Superiors in previous comics and interactions. Sure Chu. Sure.
I love how this update had more Genji/Mercy implications than actual lore.
The selling point of this entire game.
I’m not even that mad. Just really disappointed.
