Miss Luna Litterfoot

The first time I saw her was on a Friday in early January of 2013 at the local Humane Society. On my way to a cat I'd spotted on the website, I passed her room and she sat perfectly centered in the window. I stopped to admire the way she faced the hall so as to be seen, in a very "red light district love for sale" kind of way. I leaned closer to the window, said, "Aw, cute." and kept on my way. 2 days later we met with 3 cats who just didn't do it for us. The volunteer who was helping to match us suggested a long hair black cat who shared a room with Luna (then named Dinah). My husband sat on the floor and the black cat curled up in his lap, but when I tried to pet her she swiped at me. I flipped that cat off and said, "Fuck you. I'll cuddle your grey friend instead." I picked Luna up and she put her paws on my face, one on each cheek, looked deep into my eyes, and I said "This is the one we're taking home."

She was almost 5 when we got her and she would've been 15 next month. We got to have 10 years of loving her. She was my bed hog. She was my snack thief. She was my movie cuddle buddy. She was my early morning alarm clock..even on the weekends. She never knocked things over. She never shredded tp or paper towels. She never did any of the mischievous things cats are known to do. One time she had a bad reaction to some salmon and she quickly made it to the litter box instead of making a mess on the carpet, because she was a lady.

I love you forever, my sweet baby Luna.

My heart is breaking tonight.💔😿 I lost my little orange ally cat. I’m still processing all this. I came home to have a neighbor tell & show me what happened. Two dogs attacked & mauled him. I’m grieving for my fur baby. 💔😿 I named him Maurice. He showed up the first week we moved here. I was sitting in my backyard on the ground & he literally walk right up to me & sat in my lap! I’ve never had a cat do that before. He became friends with my dog & I would often find them sitting together in the backyard. On cold nights the two of them would snuggle together. Before he showed up my husband was indifferent to cats. Maurice has such a personality that he couldn’t help but notice his charm. He quickly became part of the family. Although we tried to tame him, he just didn’t want to be owned. He wanted to stay untamed. He would get into scrapes with the other ally cats & I would rush him to the vet. He would do this so frequently I eventually learned how to clean bite wounds myself. From time to time I get bouts of depression & anxiety. Some days he would sit in my lap & all the stress of the day would just melt away with every one of his healing purrs. He help me relax when my anxiety was high. My depression has been a foggy memory because I haven’t had any in a while. He showed me to chill. He was the master of chill. We gave him shelter, food, & love, but he gave my family so much more.
