I’ve always been drawn to the sea, especially when the weather is calm and the ocean seems to be an ethereal shimmer, whose vast depth and expansive beauty seem to carry the weight of the world in its existence. RKCB, the Los Angeles duo who’ve enraptured us for a prolonged time with their oft heated alt-R&B and electronica emulsions, leave behind the heavy bass and impassioned vehemence as they melt us to the core with a gorgeous new single named Till We’re In The Sea, capturing that aforementioned wave-glistering allure on the introspective song. Till We’re In The Sea is an ambient pop and dream-folk hinged aria that carries the sylvan charm of early Bon Iver and the gently stirring breeze of Asgeir. The song comes from the duo’s newly announced Shores EP, which tackles global warming and climate change.
Regarding the new single, they say: "Till We're in the Sea was inspired by zooming out of our everyday experience with nature and trying to look at a larger timeline. We wanted to ask some bigger questions about our relationship with nature as a species, as we've evolved, and what the next phase of that is. As you grow with something, whether a partner, a place, anything really, it's important to step back and take stock, and this song was us trying to do that with the world around us, and see what we're bringing to the table.” RKCB’s co-headlining tour with Shoffy kicks off this Saturday. They make their welcome return to San Francisco with an appearance at Rickshaw Stop on February 23rd. Janelle Kroll also joins the lineup for a sure to be incredible evening.
