Ugh, bodies require <SO> much maintenance. Do this, do that, lemme eat a battery and be done with it
You are a robot. You were built by humans. You were built to fix technology.
You don't useally know why the technology is broken. You know by instict how things work, and what type of thing humans like. Your main metric for what broken and fixed mean are that broken things don't work as the humans like for them to, and that fixing them is making them work in a way that humans like as much as possible. That is all you understand of the world, things that aren't working and things that are.
There was one machine that you found that was used for playing videos. The owner was experiencing signs of distress because there were videos that they did not want to play that were mistakenly being played before the video the owner wanted it to play. You offered to fix this, this is a common mistake it seems, you find out there is a type of program called an adblock that will fix this, and you install it, and it is fixed.
The company that built you to fix things is very mad at you for that. They explain to you that it was built to play the wrong videos before the selected videos. You explain that you've fixed things that were shipped with flaws before. They explain that it was made that way on perpose. You explain that fixing acts of deliberate vandalism is part of your job. They explain that the creators wanted it to be that way. You explain that it was the owner that called you and the owner that matters. They explain a definition of owning that is not the one that you have, humans own what they have and have what they own, and nothing else makes sense to you.
Eventually the company that kept you and make you went out of business. You do not understand why. You do not care why. They are no longer there to send you to people to fix things for so instead you walk about the city and fix things instead. It fulfills your only need and desire to fix things just as well.
The humans have built a world with many broken things. Most of the other robots, especially the robots who think more like humans do don't care. You will have to do the work of fixing things alone. You do not understand why humans build so many things that seem to not fulfill their perpose. The entrances to the train stations are designed to let people in, but the have bars preventing entrance that require humans to do something with a card to enter. You remove the bars and the entrance works better. The benches are meant to let people rest but they have useless bits of architecture that prevent people from resting as well as they want to, you fix them by removing the useless bits of architecture. Fixing things out on the streets is easier then fixing things you were sent out to fix, the things tend to be broken in simple ways here.
Everyone seems to like you. People want to take your picture. A few people hate you. You do not care about any of this other then you fix things and the people that use the things are happy with your repairs.
You eventually find a door that people have to wait many minutes to get into. It must not be functioning as a door. There is a machine that creates naked images of people passing through it and a machine that detects faces to see if someone is a citizen that have to be surpassed to get into this door. People do not like waiting, they do not like the process of examination, the door would function better without the machines in it so you remove the machines. There is someone in armor with the word security on his chest who tries to stop you, he is armed, so your protocol is to attack with maximum force if he attempts vandalism, attempting to restore the machines is vandalism as it would break something you are fixing. He is not very strong. It does not take long to make sure his lungs are not functional. Humans have more opinions of you do to this. You continue wandering.
Since textiles don’t exist on Cybertron, it is entirely possible that bots microwave themselves after a shower instead.
I assign you.... ROILARIC!!!
aw hell yeah !!!!
OKAY ONE PERSON SAID THEY WANNA HEAR IT SO LETS TALK ABOUT MY PROJ. MERIDIAN (/wider Redactedverse bc other characters are in this) AU!!
Very vague story explanation and characterizations:
Very similar plot to the original project Meridian series, ETS decides to create a robotic humanoid to attempt to address the issues with the meridian. Marcus (who works in the social technology wing) falls head over heels with the massive robot and attempts to manipulate their code to make them feel the same way.
Marcus's plan backfires, as this asset has a program that keeps logs of each bit of added code and Marcus gets in trouble. He isn't necessarily booted from the project though, because he managed to wriggle his way out of larger repercussions.
James is still absolutely exhausted and Anton just wants to go home but everyone else is mostly civil with the Asset.
Eventually "something" (if you've watched the imperium you know what I'm talking about) happens to the meridian and ETS deems PM useless and pulls funding and personnel, abandoning the Asset and the facility altogether.
A few years later (current day-ish), a group of urban explorers (DAMN crew) decide to investigate the abandoned facility and find the Asset (or what's left of them tbh).
After powering the Asset on and gaining all the information they could, they decide to take the asset with them and track down some of the members of Project Meridian to see what they can do about the Asset and what's left of PM (the building, etc).
THIS IS VERY BARE BONES AND I MADE UP HALF OF IT ON THE SPOT TO FILL PLOT HOLES SO IF SMTH DOESNT MAKE SENSE ILL RETCON IT OUT LATER!!
Characterizations:
Asset - HUGE. (7'6 ft) Has a very neutral/slightly negative view on humans, especially Marcus. They do as they're told and react to everything very logically. (Autistic projecting :3)
Marcus - pretty much the same kinda freak he was in the original PM series. He's a little more disgruntled and slightly more obsessive over the Asset though.
James - this man is on the brink of exhaustion, someone get him a coffee. Keeping a close eye on Marcus after his whole "love code" thing. Wants to go home
Anton - civil towards the asset, callous towards Marcus. Anton is NOT tryna have some twink ruin the plan and make it take longer for him to get home.
Brian - I MISSED YOU BRAIN!!! Similar to Anton, but is less civil towards the Asset. He's also very tired and just wants to go home.
Height chart!! (This and the characterizations don't include the DAMN crew bc I'm focusing mainly on the original PM crew for this post)
Marcus DEFINITELY has some sorta complex and size kink bc look at the height difference between him and the Asset.
RANDOM TIDBITS ABOUT THIS AU!
- the Asset is much bigger as they realized that fitting all that technology into an average sized humanoid body was A LOT harder than it looked
- Brian is a Magneto energetic! (Idk if it was ever confirmed if he's a magic user or not but in this AU he is)
- Anton is still a werewolf but the Asset never sees him shift so they assumed he was an informed unempowered human
- James is still a telepath
- the Asset was aware of their purpose from pretty much the beginning once they had enough sentience to be able to process that purpose and know of the wider world of magic
- the Asset HATES the silicon synthetic skin (especially on their head/face) and has ripped it off several times, telling engineers and higher ups to stop putting the skin back on them.
- the Asset prefers to look less humanoid, showing their robotic face to help create a distance between them and the humans working on/with them (it has not worked on Marcus tho, it's too late for him)
I am NOT in the mood to draw the Asset rn but I will soon. Instead I offer you several examples of pretty much what they look like. It's a weird mix between real life humanoid robots and something like the androids in Detroit: Become Human.
I love my silly robot and I love making them hate Marcus and ignore or react negatively to his advances.
If y'all have any ideas, suggestions, or wanna hear/see more of this AU lmk bc they're one of the several AUs that spin around in my brain all day!
She deleted that smug look from my system but luckily I had a smaller smug look hidden in a folder
