"What If Robotica/D-2000 Was In Dt17?"
I was chatting with a friend of mine, and they got intrigued about details about a Fanfic I'll Never Write. When I gave them they story proper, they enjoyed it, so I decided to share the basic points with you good people.
So, this is - What if Robotica/D-2000 was in Dt17?
Now, for those who don't know, Robotica was a one-shot character from 87 DT. Gyro made her to help Beakly with the kids, but her lack of emotion scared the kiddos, so Gyro (being gyro) went 100% in the opposite direction, making her too emotional, she fell for Gizmoduck, and went yandere over his rejection
I have a fondness for Yanderes (shocking very few people, I assume) so I've always liked her. So, how did I fit her into my Two-Part-Episode-Fanfic-Idea?
We start with Mark Beaks, who, as always, is pissy that he's not being the subject of attention and wanting to one-up Gizmoduck. So he comes up (re: steals idea) of making his own superhero, and since "everyone loves meidos!" (employee: sir that seems slightly racist-) there she is.
And like the OG episode, everyone is... very unnerved at her lack of emotion, her decisions being based more on numbers than emotion and logic. Mark decides to "Download a personality" to make her more appealing - he scrolls through what seems to be the top trending anime and bases Robotica's new personality off of the main character of said anime.
... Without doing any research/watching the anime itself. Which will be relevant.
So, ta-da! Robotica 2.0 is here, and she's so chipper and helpful and adorable! Gizmoduck/Fenton is actually relieved that he has help, and they wind up teaming up to do heroics. (This is taking place where he's dating Gandra in secret, before Huey finds out). Huey, for his part, thinks there's something familiar and dangerous about her...
All seems to be well, and then Robotica gets interviewed by Roxanne Featherly. (While Mama, Gandra, Huey with Fenton, are watching) and Robotica cheerfully announces that She and Gizmoduck are in love, and "everyone should call this new OTP Gizmotica!"
Cue Mama confusion, Gandra jaw dropping, Fenton being horrified...
... And huey going "This is awful! ... Obviously, it should be Robotiduck!" Fenton: HUEY. Huey: OH RIGHT NO THIS IS BAD SORRY
fenton frantically goes to try to find Robotica and tell her they are most definitely not a thing while Huey tries to do some research on his own. It's when Huey finds his bros scrolling thru TV that it finally clicks - they've watched the show she's "from". Huey, in a panic, tries calling Fenton, but he's not picking up...
Gizmoduck tries to gently turn Robotica down, and then scramble to find Gandra and explain what really happened. It's only then that he finally picks up Huey's call and gets the proper explanation - the main character Robotica is based on is a yandere, who goes dangerously insane after being turned down. her show was cancelled for being too scary!
Huey: Look, we might be fine, as long as you didn't tell her "let's just be friends". Fenton: ........... About that - Cue Robotica literally exploding on scene, ready to murder Gizmoduck, Gandra, and anyone in her way. Blah blah fight scene, haven't worked out this part yet, but ultimately she does get defeated... sort of.
Fenton ultimately did feel sorry for her, so while her body was destroyed, he downloaded her 'brain' onto a chip, planning to store it away until he could figure out a way to get her to calm TF down.
As the episode ends, he's organizing and moving things to send to Darkwing, to help the caped crusader with his crimes...
and the chip accidentally gets slipped in. end episode.
which would lead to a sequel/follow up episode in the Darkwing Spinoff. This would be a remake of the Darkwing Duck episode Star Crossed Circuits, which also deals with a computer program going insane over the hero. made sense to me to combine the two.
Darkwing is uploading all the nifty stuff Fenton sent over, which includes a "mysterious unlabeled data chip." Gosalyn is wary about downloading something they know nothing about, but DW trusts Fenton, so it gets downloaded. This being, calling itself D-2000, finds itself in conflict with WANDA. The latter, feeling underappreciated, goes on "vacay".
D-2000 is much cheerier and less snarky than WANDA (and gives DW a major ego boost) so DW likes it right off the bat. As the episode goes on, it downloads itself into all of his gear, giving him advice on how to use it best. It keeps feeding his ego, and tries to isolate him from LP and Gos, who DW assume are just jealous of his "enhancements."
Meanwhile, Fenton has realized a "very important chip" is missing, and DW isn't taking his calls! (d-2000 is blocking them) So off he goes to St. Canard, hopefully before it's too late.
D-2000 begins wearing out its welcome when it starts being overly protective of DW, not letting him fight and doing all the work for him. It reaches a head when it actively tries to keep DW away from some female villains (Morgana especially) and DW realizes Gos and LP were right. He announces he's disabling D-2000 ASAP, and heads back to the lair...
Fenton catches up to LP and Gos, explaining that the "mystery chip" is actually the brain of an insane yandere AI, and if she falls in love with anyone, doom is sure to follow. They all race to the lair, hoping to save DW, since it's clear he's become her new crush.
DW arrives at the lair, and is startled to hear what he thinks is Morgana's voice. At first, he thinks she's there to seduce him (and he's okay with that!) until he realizes it's actually d-2000, who is obviously robotica - she copied Morgana's voice to make DW like her, and rebuilt her body out of various DW/Fenton gadgets.
As expected, DW turns her down, and nervously suggests "... let's just be friends?"
Once again, all hell breaks loose. Gizmo, LP, Gos arrive, but Robotica has access to all of DW's gadgets, and they find themselves in a losing fight. Gizmo barely defeated her the first time, how can they do it again?
DW: What do we do?! Gizmo: I don't know, she doesn't handle rejection well! LP: Man, this is the worst break-up I've ever been through! ... Well I guess Penny and I technically didn't break up. We're still good pals. Huh, come to think of it, I don't think I've ever had a bad break-up ever. Funny, huh?
DW, Gos, Gizmo all stare at him.
"...What?"
Cut to all three of them yeeting LP at a still rampaging Robotica.
LP: Um. Hey there. Robotica: BACK OFF, TOUGH GUY! YOU'RE ALL SCRAP METAL! LP: Okay... So. Rough day? Robotica: ROUGH DAY? ROUGH DAY?! I'VE HAD A ROUGH LIFE! NO ONE WILL LOVE ME, EVEN THOUGH I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! LP: ... Wanna talk about it? Robotica: .........MAYBE
There's an obvious and deliberate jump cut scene to the two of them sitting at a table over coffee/oil and Robotica calmed down, saying things like "Wow, you're right, I was trying to seek validation in unhealthy avenues. I should find ways to actively encourage self-appreciation before I try to look for it in others!" LP: Mm-hmm.
Robotica then vows to stop looking for love (at least for now), and try to discover herself first. She keeps her body but returns most of the gadgets, and flies off to become a real hero. WANDA returns, with DW having a new appreciation for her.
And Gos jokes (without actually joking) "So can we just throw LP at all our problems from now on?"
