There is a fascination people have with emotional unavailability and it's usually to everyone's detriment.
Someone who is not as outwardly expressive as expected, who is withdrawn and not really forthcoming with information, creates a sense of mystery for people. And like any mystery, people want to solve it. And when it comes to someone labelled as "mysterious", people feel a sense of obligation to "solve" that mystery—either to get to know them, to find a way to change them, perceivably "fixing" them, or something similar.
For schizoid individuals, it creates this sense of unwanted attention from people who cannot be satisfied with receiving nothing. At first impression, it's all about the fantasy—look at this stoic person who doesn't pay attention to anyone or care about anyone, imagine if they made an exception for me, imagine if I could get to see their "true" self.
You're not going to get this from a schizoid individual. This is a fantasy you're projecting onto them—that they're something special, something to be saved or explored. Don't expect an emotional response from someone who's frequently emotionally dissociated, it's not going to end up well for either of you.
And it's so common for schizoids to see themselves as not possessing any sense of personality, to be filled with a void. To try to dig deeper against what they're willing to show you, it's violating and can be perceived as controlling or exploitative, which can cause further withdrawal.
I do not speak for all schizoids, but I do speak for myself when I say to not try and make us into something different.
You will be disillusioned and frustrated when the emotionless person is emotionless.

♡ take a nice thorough shower with hot water
and what i mean by a nice thorough shower is being super duper present with urself while u shower. making sure that u wash every part of urself with tender loving care. allow ur mind to wander and ponder about ur day, ur plans, or just enjoy the act of taking care of urself and showing urself love…💬🎀

Oh look, it's the same old anti-romance genre talking points, but the Zoomers are at it again with carrying on what the anti-novel crowd started.
According to this person's logic, women who wrote/enjoyed bodice rippers "endorsed" kidnapping, rape, women staying with their rapists, abuse, confinement, cheating, women having less rights than men and belonging to their husbands (bodice rippers romanticize [def: to treat in an idealized or unrealistic way] the time periods they're set in; doesn't mean women want to go back to those times!), never divorcing, and men not respecting women's boundaries.
No, they didn't.
I'm just gonna leave this here, and peace out:

On the discussion of the “romanticization” of taboo topics/pairings in fiction, sometimes a story is meant to be unrealistic. Art/fan-fiction is not always meant to be a reflection, and it’s definitely not meant to be a stand in on education.
I’m not saying art can’t be meaningful, or it has no affect on our lives—It can give us insight on a different perspective and it can make us feel an array of emotions like joy, anger, excitement, sadness, disgust, and even arousal.
But fiction can’t be your guide or an indicator of someone’s morality.
Ex: You can watch a cartoon of someone driving a car. It can give you a vague understanding of what a car is and how it works, you might even feel like driving your own car! But without the proper education you are going to get into an accident and hurt yourself and others.
You can’t blame the artist for drawing their reckless character not wearing a seatbelt. Hell, they might’ve made it seem cool to not wear a seatbelt. If you’re an adult it is your job to separate fiction from reality, if you’re a parent it’s your job to give your kids an education, not a cartoon.
Real life is much more complicated than any piece of fiction can portray, and the solution is never censorship, it’s always education.
with the temperature lowering and the geese flying south, it's finally time for autumn to swing back around !! my ultimate favourite season (and a pro when it comes to romanticizing it), i'll be sharing all my secrets on how to make this one memorable !!
☕ school during autumn ⊹ ࣪ ˖
with back to school season being autumn, this is the best thing to romanticize. i won't go into much detail (you can check out this post if you want more tips), but some things you can do include getting cute stationery, pretending ur a character from a tv show, bringing coffee or a book to school, listening to music, and more !
☕ fall playlist ⊹ ࣪ ˖
i am a firm believer in making playlists for each season. it just curates that vibe that ur going for !! whether youre going for a dark academic, witchy, or gilmore girls type of autumn, MAKE THAT PLAYLIST !!! listen to it during school, while you study, when you wake up... literally the best thing you can do ! here's a link to my autumn playlist for inspo (or if u just wanna listen to it) :)
☕ bake fall treats ⊹ ࣪ ˖
i don't bake much, but i love fall treats with everything in me !!!! things like cinnamon rolls, apple pie, pumpkin bread, and more will really get you into that fall cozy mode. bonus points if you bake them while watching any fall media (gilmore girls, harry potter, etc) or listening to your fall playlist ~
☕ outfit planning ⊹ ࣪ ˖
getting out your chillier wardrobe and outfit planning for the season ahead is one of my favourite pastimes and it will GUARANTEED get you excited for fall !!! its so fun to create fun autumn outfits ! you can look on pinterest for inspiration, but having cute outfits on hand will make you feel so much cuter <3
☕ embrace fall media ⊹ ࣪ ˖
this isn't just shows! its books, music, and movie! examples of different media
books - the secret history, the picture of dorian gray, little women, harry potter, twilight, if we were villains
shows - gilmore girls, hilda (trust me on that one), gossip girl, wednesday
movies - fantastic mr. fox, hocus pocus, dead poets society, the corpse bride, little women
music - clairo, adrianne lenker, mazzy star, the smiths, tv girl, the cranberries, fiona apple
☕ media reset ⊹ ࣪ ˖
im talking about your laptop, phone, ipad - whatever digital devices you may own (like the one you're using to look at this post right now), give it that autumn reset !! change your wallpaper, widgets, maybe even just your profile picture !!
declutter your phone of anything unnecessary like apps, people, photos - and do the same with your laptop, especially if you use it for school ! give your tumblr profile a refresh, even. it can really be the smaller things here. you will feel so much better, trust me !!
☕ engage in fall activities ⊹ ࣪ ˖
you know the ones - the pins in your curated autumn vision board of girls reaching for apples, carving out luke's logo in a pumpkin, taking a foggy stroll through orange-tinged trees. this doesn't have to be a fantasy - you can do it too !
buy a pumpkin from your local grocery store, search up apple orchards near you - literally just take a walk in your downtown area !! they might not look like the ones in the pictures, but it will still be real. have fun with the season !!
thank you so much for reading !! this post was really fun to make and i truly hope it has helped some of you decide what to do this fall. these aren't necessary to make your fall fun, but they are some nice additions to make it feel more magical !!! thank you again for reading, and i'll see you next time, angels <3
i often think about how many people say that the series hannibal romanticizes/glamorizes/eroticizes cannibalism. and the more i think about it, the more i disagree that, in this case, the phenomenon carries a negative connotation.
i like hannibal, but i am very sober in my ability to look at things, even when i have a strong hyperfixation on them, because i am prone to self-reflection and overthinking many things. and hannibal has never been something "glamorous" to me simply because he's played by dilf in a three-piece suit with styled hair and rolled-up shirt sleeves, and all the human dishes are prepared more spectacularly than on any cooking show. yes, it's obviously beautiful, but the most valuable thing here is the context.
if you look superficially, then yes, it is romanticization.
if you think about it, it's an excellent portrayal of a type of psychopath atypical for media (in my opinion), who is not so much a member of ordinary society as of the "upper" society. it's not even that important, but that he is so respected member of society (i know a lot of them were "regular" people, even good people in everyone's eyes, but it hits different with hannibal).
power corrupts, money corrupts, connections corrupt, you feel like a god, you get ecstasy from impunity and dive deeper into it, and this is not such a rare story (white parties, Marilyn Manson, there are many examples); it's just presented here through a slightly exaggerated, yet realistic enough lens.
a psychopath, but with high intelligence; a psychopath, but in a beautiful expensive suit; a psychopath, but with excellent manners; a psychopath, but well-regarded by society –still a PSYCHOPATH. and this is valuable because people, blaming the series hannibal for romanticizing cannibalism, only emphasize how easily they can be misled by good looks, tidiness, and charisma.
are you ready to forgive a psychopath, a cannibal, and a serial killer just because he's sexy? maybe the problem lies with you?
if you look through the lens of movies/series/podcasts about serial killers and cannibals, then the cooking process is extremely rarely present, and more often the meat is consumed raw/in another form, but still not thermally processed (correct me if i'm wrong), so hannibal in this case flips this concept, turning such a frightening and eerie act into mundanity through the preparation of meat, which only further blurs the line of where psychopathy begins.
and cannibalism (including vampirism) is very often erotic in its essence, so one can understand why they read this series as a romanticization of cannibalism; i don't blame these people, i just worry that they missed some deep concept (maybe i've gone crazy, and it's just gay killers).
therefore, hannibal is a highly intellectual, cultured, educated, impeccably dressed psychopath, serial killer, and cannibal, but precisely this image, it seems to me, is needed in media.
hannibal doesn't raise suspicions, he is cultured, restrained, pedantic, and he doesn't it so much from a sense of entitlement of rich people (although obviously he has a god complex), which again sets him apart; in society, in the professional environment, he is valued, which only makes his character more complex, so the psychopath in him is more unique than any series/movie about a dubious person, at one glance at whom you would now say that everything is obvious.
this is a valuable portrayal in media, complex and multifaceted enough to be created. the character of hannibal himself is interesting and deep, but such an ambiguous portrayal in the series adds an extra charm and depth to his personality.
"romanticization and eroticization" of hannibal, if present, only plays into the hands of the plot and character development, and also exposes our society and merely shows how easily the overton window works.
