Waving a red scarf, this woman depicted in the Room of the Dance at the Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina wears a decorative dress, elegant jewelry (note her bangles), and red shoes. She's even sporting a cat eye makeup style! I like this woman! Archeologists think this 3rd/4th century C.E. mosaic was inspired by theatrical performances during ancient Roman times. I think with my love of fashion and getting dressed up, I'd fit right in in ancient Rome. What, about you? Loads of questions concerning the mosaics of Ancient Alexandria, specially this one behind me. Location : Roman Villa -Alexandria ,Egypt Who is this human figure on its top?? Is it Dionysus?? And why Dionysus was one of favorite subjects to be modeled on Mosaics?decorating Greek and Roman houses floors ? What is the decorative element in the middle ?? Is it Cross? Villa Romana del Casale

A few of the marvelous mosaics. The great hunting scene is the highlight. It is the longest stretch of mosaics of its kind showing hunting on land and sea, and the capture and transport of exotic animals bound for Rome and the games.

Littlecote Roman Villa

These ruins are in a better state than most of our roads.The Romans were ahead of their time. -TommyC. 

This site has the best Roman mosaic (the Orpheus mosaic) I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing! The Roman villa began its life as a military establishment, just a short period of time later the military buildings were replaced with agricultural buildings, namely farming huts around 70AD. From then on the site was redeveloped several times and around 360AD the site become entrenched with religious use. During this period a triconch hall was built with its own bath suite, the remnants of its hypocaust are still visible today. -RoxyB.

GODDESS ISIS aka Ίσιδα Fresco | Details: From Villa della Farnesina, Rome [Bedroom | Cubiculum B] Discovered | Excavated in 1879 "in the garden of the Renaissance Villa Farnesina" [modern Trastevere area] Augustan age, 1 BC - 1 AD.

"The bedroom [cubiculum], an intimate space with a bed [kline], divided into antechamber and bed alcove, has a rich decoration whose dominant color is the expensive cinnabar red." [Txt ©MNR PM]
