I'll have to send you the calming treats I use for my two. My Cricket is a spazz at the vet and I gave him a couple treats about an hour before I left to take them to the vet and he was super chill through the whole visit

People like that I call the police non emergency line... if you have an HOA I'm sure a complaint to them (with video evidence) could help... or not. But it's a thought. I've had to do it many times and I stay totally anonymous

No HOA, but I called the police on them one night because of their fighting. Police (in our town) are basically useless for noise, though. Usually when they show up for a noise complaint, it only helps for at most that day/night. The last people on this street that were (almost) this loud had the cops come by several times a week until they moved, so all the rest of us have just given up I think :/

YAY MORE EXPANSE

Miller's hat is so much fun. Him getting ragged on about it so much is the best... though am I the only one that thinks the drive core in season one looks vaguely like the Normandy's?

Ha, it kind of does!!! And Miller’s hat is all the more fun for me since @n7zachammer wears fedoras all the time (and looks DAMN fine in them - take a seat Miller). Miller’s Hat should have its own Twitter account if it doesn’t already.

YES TO ALL OF THIS. I mean we're just now starting to see the plural marriages as active entities in the books themselves , which...is about four books later than it should have happened (I like Naomi/Holden, but I like Naomi/Holden/Alex/Amos more, in a micro version of Holden's family). There's a LOT of crit that we can level at the show/series, and I think it all goes back to that issue of token gestures.

Yup! I find The Expanse is a little like ME3 - it has some REALLY high peaks, and REALLY low valleys. But the peaks are SO HIGH I neeeeeeed it.

I constantly felt like Holden is only the protagonist because the author(s) say he is. Because he never seems to earn it, either in deed, or more importantly, in character growth. Everyone around him is 300% more interesting. Blow him out the airlock and put Naomi in charge!

I still can't get over how Holden ostensibly grew up in a mixed/blended family, talks about how he has multiple dads and moms... and yet himself is mister Straight Monogamist. Literally the only thing that whole formative experience did to his character was make him pluralize his parental words when he talks about his own family. That, and even though that family situation has become pretty normal on Earth... you never see it anywhere else?

TOTALLY agree with all of this. Especially about Naomi! Especially if it’s the Naomi that we see in Book 5! In fact, there is no place where this Holden Is Important Because Plot Says So phenomenon is more apparent than in the first season of The Expanse, where she is more competent and in command of people’s loyalty than Holden could hope to be, and yet....Holden is in charge.
