Hey, RPers, you actually DON'T need to tag every single post you make with that character's public tag! 😱
So I don't know if we're taking this whole "what I contribute to the rpc" super seriously or not, but let's unpack this statement: "WHAT I CONTRIBUTE TO THE RPC" What do I contribute? Nothing. And not only do I not feel bad about it, I don't feel anything about it. And neither should you. Because it's not a content community. It's a community for people to find each other and connect and build stories they like with people they like. It's not a community meant to have people contributing to it. It's a community based on your interactions with people you choose to write with. Your contributions aren't for the rpc, they're *for you and your friends.* This isn't social media, this isn't Ao3, and it's not Deviant Art. It's tumblr roleplay, and tumblr roleplay only exists between people who have a story they want to tell with each other. Those stories aren't for anyone else except the people inside of them. If someone unrelated to those stories happens to love them? Amazing! If they don't? Literally who fucking cares, because you didn't write it for them. Stop going on the dash wondering what you contribute to the rpc and go into your DMs and Discord windows and *connect* with your partners. Contribute *to yourselves.* Fuck all that other shit. It doesn't deserve your time or thoughts.
The RPC is fucked up and it's our fault for letting toxic people join our communities and allowing them to misbehave, brushing it to the side thinking it will fix itself in the end. It hasn't. Then they cry wolf whenever their bad behaviors are pointed out. We should stop sympathizing with these toxic roleplayers, and start calling them what they are. Bad roleplayers. Start kicking these people out and stop forgiving them. They don't deserve it. They will destroy you, and whatever circles you are in. Whether that be in Discord RP Groups or Tumblr RP Groups. It starts with bubbling, it starts with these dick measuring contest, and these incessant needs to be the center of attention. Give them nothing. They deserve nothing until they can behave better. If they want to act like middle schoolers. Treat them like it.
For being all about accessibility Tumblr rpers really do like to use fonts that are extremely difficult to read
If you’re an avid user of msparp/mxrp, then I’d avoid a user going around as simply “Avalon” with purple text, I’d block them as soon as you can. They immediately went to harass my characters and art, and then myself. They said it themself that they get enjoyment out of harassing people.
Gentle reminder that the lotl mods are toxic.
The land of the lost mods killed off someone’s character without permission.
The person who played the deputy in Thistleclan was taking a break from the server due to personal reasons, but was expected to return. The told the mods NOT to kill off their character, and had already been assured they would be allowed to come back once they were in a better place. However, behind the players back the mods killed off said character in an event. ACTUALLY not only did they kill the character without permission, but they did it in a way so violent and explicit, that it had to be hidden under Discords spoiler system.
hot take but i’m not a fan of when rpgs don’t allow people to have the same name for their characters?? i get prioritizing individuality but i guess as a writer... characters can have the same name. people in real life have the same name. my mum has 3 friends named laura and we have funny nicknames to differentiate. if i was in an rpg and someone’s character had the same name as mine i’d love to plan discourse or jokes with them. but that’s just me
that’s today’s hot take with jack
Ok, I don’t RP and never have, so:
What are all your thoughts on teens RPing genuinely problematic ships with adults, or even other teens? Assuming there’s no NSFW scenes, I’m still not sure how I feel about, say, an adult and teen roleplaying homecoming-era Starker.
to an outsider, that looks pretty bad. but I don’t know what the roleplay culture is like or even if that kind of thing is already frowned upon.
