“You’re lucky you’re cute”

Character: Ruby Rose x GN!Reader.

Warnings: Can be read as platonic too. No warnings, just fluff.

Notes: The request, “ "You're lucky you're cute" with Ruby if that's ok”.

The front door of your house opens with a quiet creek. As you set foot inside, you’re greeted by a sweet smell in the air, tickling your nose. You breath in deeply, letting the sugary scent fill your lungs and ease the tiredness of the day as you close the door behind you and make it through the corridor.

Why does it smell sweet?

You don’t remember making anything sweet for lunch earlier, and you haven’t bought any cakes from the convenience store. And today isn’t anyone’s birthday, so why the sweet smell?

Oh.

You enter the kitchen and suddenly everything makes sense. And everything is a mess, really. There’s flour all over the counter, a couple of cracked shell eggs, the oven is still open and there’s an obscene amount of chocolate chips lying around, too. You sigh, knowing full well it’s your job to clean this up later.

“Ruby, I’m home.” You call out as you make your way to the living room.

You find her cross-legged sitting on the couch, she’s biting her bottom lip, fidgeting with the controller in her hands as she fights what you assume to be a big boss in one of her favorite video games on the TV.

As soon as she hears your voice though, she sends the controller flying and you don’t have time to blink before she’s pouncing on you.

“You’re back!” She wraps her arms around your waist, nuzzling her forehead on your chest, cheerful. “I made something for you! The first batch came out a little weird-shaped so I did you the favor of eating them all and I made another batch for you. You’re welcome.”

“Is that so?” Ruby’s lips bloom into a smile when you pull apart, your hand resting on her head and gently caressing her dark hair. She leans to your touch. “The kitchen is a mess though. I trust you’ll help me clean it up, right?”

“Yes… We’ll do that later.” Ruby reluctantly says, her silver eyes quickly shifting from you to the cookies that rest all nicely-put on the living room table. She picks one up and reaches out to you, a happy smile drawn on her lips. “Come on, try them!”

You take the cookie from her hand and take a bite. Your eyes widen at the sweet taste.

“It’s really good, Ruby.” You say, and her silver eyes gleam with pride. “What are we celebrating?”

“Ah, nothing in particular. You just seemed a bit tired lately and I wanted to cheer you up.” Ruby says, picking up another cookie and eating it herself. “Did it do the trick?”

“Yes. Yes, it did.” You say, palming her face delicately, her silver eyes following your movements. You brush her cheek with your thumb, your heart filled with warmth. “Thank you, Ruby. That means so much.”

“Hee-hee, I’m glad!” Ruby smiles, leaning into your palm. “Does that mean I don’t have to clean the kitchen, though? Since I’ve been so nice and all.”

“You’re lucky you’re cute.” You press a kiss to her hair, the dark locks tickling your nose. Ruby looks up at you, her silver eyes big and sparkling. “But the answer is no. Now, come over here and help me clean up before we get all snuggly on the couch!”

Ruby thinks everything you do is the greatest thing anyone has ever done. You are the best in her eyes.

If you are a strong student, her obsession is fueled even further. She'll record every match you're in and watch them to help her sleep.

If someone ends up beating you in a match, she'll have a group of clones tell you the other cheated, even if you don't believe her, whilst another group punches the person that beat you, even though it doesn't really hurt.

She has custom made signs and shirts she wears whenever she's allowed to use them. She likes pulling out tiny flags with your name on them and cheering you on.

She follows you around everywhere. She revels in your presence and is a constant squealing mess.

She has, more then once, growled at people getting close to you, especially when they try flirting. Even Yang isn't safe from her.

Ruby will sneak into your dorm and steal your ammo and weapons. She'll take them back to her dorm so she can study what you use and change her weapons to accommodate for it. It makes her feel more like you.

Whenever you have a spar with someone, she'll fill every single seat in the stadium to cheer you one with massive signs and pom poms.

Ruby is an obsessive fangirl but she'll stop at nothing to keep cheering you on.

I need more grandpa/dad Ozpin headcanons

So i read a headcanon a bit ago that theorized how the silver eyes lines came to be. That Ozma had children with silver eyes and they started the lines. And honestly i love it cause that could mean that Ruby and the Grim Reaper could be related to Ozpin/Ozma and i needed to make some more headcanons based on this so here we go!

°Ozpin knew about his very distant relationship to Ruby and took it upon himself to raise her in a mentorish way

°So when she ended up using her powers by accident during a training mission, Ozpin saw this as a perfect opportunity

°He decides to train her 4 days out of the week. Making her a special schedule, A new diet to compensate for how many calories shes using, Some new training clothes so it's easier for her to move, and hair clips. Dont ever say he doesn't care about his proteges lol

°Ruby loves training like this and he has to pull out his dad side by reminding her that her body can only take so much.

°And right after complains about "These old bones" and that "She should go easy on this poor old man"

°Not only does he train her in her new powers, but he trains her mind. Making her an even more brilliant strategist

°He likes to make it fun since when he tried the book method she fell asleep in 4 minutes.

°So chess is usually the go to game. That and complicated battle board games.

°Ozpin will still be irritated and smug no matter the outcome of the game. If he loses he gets irritated that he lost to a kid, but smug cause thats HIS kid. If he wins he's irritated that she didn't try hard, but smug cause he won.

°For some reason he developed a habit of patting Ruby's head like a puppy. He's been teased by Glynda ever since

°Even though it was supposed to stay a secret Ozpin let it slip that he could do magic

°She likes to call him Ozzy or just plain old Oz.

°He called her Petals once and he sounded way to much like Qrow for his own liking. He tried to stop but it stuck

°One day at school everyone decided to look into their history since it was a pretty fun idea. When she found out the roses decended from a mysterious family with no last name. Only noted for their eye color she became curious

°She mentions it to Oz in passing and he quite literally spits out his tea

°"oUM SHE KNOWS-!"

°He signs and gives in knowing that she'd bug him about it till he found out

°She squealed at finding out her mom's side of the family was alive but scattered. And to know that Oz started that family.

°that day he got the biggest hug he'd ever receive.

°He was honestly so glad to finally be acknowledged as someone from a family. He had no family for so long and now suddenly his petals was offically a part of his family

°Taiyang eventually found out and was cool with it, Qrow knew all along and said nothing

°Yang was extremely suprised. And to tease Ozpin she started to call him pop pop in random situations.

°He chokes on his spit every time he hears it

°Ruby wanted to call him something similar but since she felt like saying 78x great grandpa was too much. She stuck with Ozzy

°After she found out she started to wear a green emerald for luck during missions. Since that's what the families original color was

°She takes it upon herself to learn more history since she wants to know about Oz more.

°She never does ask about his wife though. She senses it's a touchy subject.

°He does talk about his children once in a while. He said Ruby reminded him of his first born alot

°He ends up telling her everything. Things that Ironwood and Glynda don't even know.

°She lets him vent alot about it since she knows how annoying keeping a secret can be

°She honestly likes hanging around the old man. And wouldn't trade it for anything

If Ruby Had A Cloning Semblance

Ruby's semblance would be an additional add on to her currently existing semblance.

She would be a young child using her rose semblance when she split into a couple of different groups of petals. Reforming, all the different groups became other Rubys.

Little Ruby would be ecstatic about this revelation. It is now impossible to only see one Ruby. A set of twin Rubys is rare since most stay as a quadruplet group before merging back to feel like a Huntress team.

Ruby would become her own best friend. Plus, she would be able to make even more friends. She could have copies spread out everywhere to be friends with as many people as possible.

Yang loves having so many little sisters. She hugs all of them all the time. Tai is a bit more cautious. He doesn't know which one is the real one and is afraid of any of them getting hurt.

When getting into Beacon, Ruby tries to hide her semblance, pretending to be a pair of identical twins. Like she says, she just wants to be a normal girl with normal knees.

But she would later reveal it when fighting the nevermore, splitting into multiple clones before covering it in scythe slashes.

This, of course, leads to her getting alot of attention that she never really wanted. But, being Ruby, she would keep quiet about it as to not bother anyone.

Weiss gets more easily irritated with this version of Ruby. Most of her annoying habits are only increased with the amount of copies around. She has more then once woken up to the entire dorm filled with Rubys and screamed.

Ruby And Yang Headcanons

•Ruby always sleeps with Yang. Always.

•Yang never minded but she eventually made ruby stop at 14 due to her leaving for beacon in about a year

•On Mothers day they have a treat yo self day with their dad

•Qrow is always included. Always. Theyll make sure he's off from missions no matter what

•One time Ozpin had him on a mission the day before mothers day that Ruby spazzed out over the phone

•"WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE'S GOING ON A MISSION!? OZPIN IF YOU DON'T GET HIM OFF THAT PLANE I WILL!-"

•Ozpins never made the same mistake again.

•Yang cant cook to save her life but she can bake, she only knows how to make Summers cookies, which are Rubys favorite

•Ruby can make some BOMB food! Students would always ask her to make some to the point where Goodwitch had to make them stop since she was always too exhausted

•Ruby is also a great Mechanic, if she wasnt a huntress, she'd be a mechanic or chef

•Yang always plays pranks on their Dad, and she always gets away with it

•Yangs also way too good at forging IDs, permission slips, report cards, goverment documents. They important she can make em

New headcanons Incoming. 

Ruby is Asexual. This being said she adores the human muscular structure, almost as much as she does weapons.  

Ruby Is Demiromantic. She doesn't believe in Eros love at first sight.

Ruby still cuts herself when swinging Crescent Rose around wildly, but it's about the equivalent of a paper-cut. She's no master like Qrow.  

Ruby strips, cleans and re-enforces Crescent Rose every 3 days, due to the wear and tear that comes with combining a scythe and a high powered sniper rifle, and using said rifle for personal propulsion and momentum augmentation. 

The cross clip rounds are custom made, Ruby actually just buys the standard ammo herself, then carefully goes to work. Ammunition has to be stupid cheap in the world of Remnant..but even then, she has to make sure not to just go hog wild when she's shooting unless the thing in front of her NEEDS to die. .60 cal rounds aren't cheap you know. 

This being said, she rarely has to use the cross rounds and has actually devised a way to recycle her old casings into propulsion blanks. 

Ruby actually prefers Strawberries to cookies. But cookies are far more accessible at beacon due to Ozpin's obsession with baking.

Ruby adores music. Any kind and every kind...as long as there are some string based instruments somewhere.

Despite clearly having ADD, she's highly intelligent and quite analytical when it comes to anything on the battlefield or hands on work...even though her innocence and naivete get in the way of that sometimes. 

She is rather self centered at times, even though she always tries to put others first, she's easily distracted by things that peak her personal interests. 

Ruby has a bad habit of taking things that belong to the other members of Team RWBY without asking. Primarily their weapons to clean and maintain them, and Blake's books. The only two she hasn't gotten to yet is the untitled journal (from episode 3) and Ninjas of Love
