Boxy Uniforms!! (Patty x Reader) (RUMBLEFISH)

Notes: I MISSED YOU SO BADDDDDDD HELLOOOOO!!!!! and also yeah, more respect for Patty, I'm shocked she doesn't get more love, especially knowing so many people watched the movie and oh my gosh Diane Lane is beautiful in that especially @nayasxo soz for the short fic, two Patty fics in a night though guys!! and you're free to spam my notifs anytime girl love you too!!!

"Ugh, these uniforms always make us look ugly- like boxes" Patty comments, scowling in the mirror as she scans her uniform, you shrug and look up at the ceiling once you flop back on her bed- before promptly sitting up, watching as she pinches in the sides with her hands and turns side to side to look at her figure, keeping your full body off of her bed

Because really who knew what sort of Rusty-James germs lingered around the place, well, the two had been broken up a while and her and hell you didn't know his name didn't work out anyway

She just grumbles to herself looking at her body squinting with a little muttered "This would look so much prettier" You noticed you hadn't particularly breathing for a second there so you caught your breath and remembered your spot on her bed- right, her and all the guys had never worked out

So you guessed you were safe, flopping back down again "Who is there to look pretty for?" You giggled a little and looked back over to Patty who just paused, staring at you for a moment and passively saying "For us, I dunno" And giving a small amused huff, looking away after a while, before right back at you with a little hum

"You never look bad in the uniforms anyway, you can't say anything" She said crossing her arms and raising her eyebrows at you like you should absolutely know that already, you just snort in a 'yeah right' manner and Patty leaps towards you to flop onto her stomach beside you with a little yip sound

"Don't even try to deny it and act all humble, everyone knows it!" she shakes her head giving you a little eyeroll, you just shake your head and give in "I'm sure I look great- just the same that you do" You side eye her just to really punctuate what you're saying and suddenly it's just fine to huff and deny looking pretty

"Yeah sure I do" Patty says with a lopsided smirk that says she doesn't agree with your statement very much at all and you just shake your head "Now what happened to not pretending you're humble! Hypocrite over here-" You laugh and roll over to poke at Patty amused who does a slight jeer to the side and wiggle from where she is

She can't really remember the last time she laughed like this without immediately having the same person make her laugh immediately dampen whatever she was feeling, but at this moment she could tell you wouldn't be shutting anything down hard like that

Failing to realize in the process of wiggling away against the wall you two were just a lot closer than initial closeness, staring into each others eyes and suddenly, there was complete silence, but it didn't feel like she did something wrong or like you'd suddenly stopped moving and just fallen asleep, it felt like you were just smiling, catching your breath

And it was in moments like these that in the end? She had to admit to herself she wished it was acceptable to ask you to be more than 'gal pals'

Claws!! (Rusty-James x Fem!Reader) (PART TWO)

Notes: OH MY GOSH I LOVE YOU!! I love S.E Hinton books, our non Outsiders books need more love and requests oh my goodness

You had done it now, you'd completely dug your claws into Rusty-James, and at this point, he didn't seem to mind one bit, he still thought he controlled all of it, that he was the one who'd grabbed onto you and wouldn't let go

But your nails were always longer than his, in your head that was some sort of symbolism for sure, with your nails longer than his blunt dirty nails, he couldn't grab and hold on for dear life the same you did, it made you smile just thinking about the fact

You patched him up today, being as gentle as possible "You're a real idiot, getting into all those fights" he just clenches his hand around the ring on a chain that hangs around his neck, scrunching his nose at the felt of the cold disinfectant

He shook his head and forced a grin "You love it" and you just huff before nodding "How'd this even start? The fight" and he just rolls his eyes a little and that question

"Hell some kid goin' around saying he'd beat me up, man, and he had no reason neither" He rolls his eyes and you hum a little and laugh slightly "No reason? I'm sure he did, you probably just forgot" You flick his temple lightly and he kisses yours

You laugh a little at that as he looks back at you, the typical 'wounded puppy' look, you just gently run your nails up and down his side as you gently treat the wound, looking up at him as he reacts to all the touches

And when you gently give a teeny scratch, he jolts "Sorry" You shake your head, and that's when you knew it, you had him now, and he knew damn well too, looking back at you

Hell he knew he was screwed but if this was being screwed and 'your next victim' he'd sit and take it, this was pretty damn nice, he'd never been treated this gentle

So, he just sucks it up watching your hands agile walk, tipping his head back with a little grin and thinking about it, you're his girl, he's your guy, that's the way it'll always be now

Claws!! (Rusty-James x Fem!Reader)

Notes: totally subtle reminder I'll write for anything S.E Hinton, SO DON'T BE SHY!! REQUEST!! thanks guys, short but sweet for a cute little Rumblefish fic!!

Rusty-James really had to stop going for the feisty chicks, the ones who dug their claws into boys and held on until the marks were permanent 'leaving your mark' was your specialty, he was an idiot to think he was exempt to the fact

You weren't with Rusty-James and you didn't seem to want to be until you finally talked to him, you two were decently close- and pretty quickly too, which was a half indicator you were most definitely plotting on him

All he knew was that he needed you, and bad, well, he definitely thought so, because hell you just get him, you always seem to know just what he's thinking! Mostly because you're a slight pro at male manipulation but that's besides the point

Gosh there wasn't a girl in town he could ever find prettier when he was with you, when he was with you, he might always feel like the dumbest guy in the world around you, but he was content with that

He'd never met such a little smart-ass, and not even just your attitude, it was your brain, you had the smarts to do plenty, and Rusty-James knew somehow you were bound to get further than this stupid town as far as the future went,

And that showed easily as he sat by you, playing with the ring on his silver chain necklace, something second hand you'd given to him, just watching as you work at practice questions for the subjects you're taking this year, clicking your pen every so often

"You're one boring chick" He yawns, you're sat in his living room, you glance back "Your chick too, apparently" You raise your eyebrows, you'd heard a few rumours that would make you raise an eyebrow, well, or both of them

He gives a little grin and you know he knows exactly what you're on about but he feigns some sort of clueless air and you shake your head and click your pen, he was definitely good at looking like a clueless idiot, you weren't sure he had to pretend

"A little birdy told me you'd been going around telling everyone I'm your girlfriend" You say, raising your eyebrows and Rusty-James laughs with a little humourous scoff at that, looking back at you "Damn, snitches"

"Thank goodness they are snitches" You say amused "Otherwise I'd have absolutely no clue you'd been claiming me as yours" You shake your head amused, like that was his choice in the matter

Rusty-James shrugs "Clearly you have no objections" He raises his eyebrows and you continue with clicking your pen and give a little playful eye roll at the stupid attitude and bluntly pointed out fact, almost laughing at his face

"No I don't actually" You shrug, you glanced at that ring around his neck, hell, that should've been the first indicator you'd decided he was yours and that you fully and completely wanted him, that was the first indicator you were leaving your mark

You still found it absolutely hilarious that he thought he decided all of this, but you'd let it happen, you thought Rusty-James was pretty amusing and cute, even if he was an idiot, you honestly liked him for him, which was rare to find

"What, what's that face for? Planning to stomp my heart?" He just looks plain amused, that reckless grin always makes you smile a little, it's just so, stupidly smart in some sort of way, he wasn't all that smart, but you could see someday he could be

"Only a little" You say playfully, that was his warning, and all you had to say, so you just kissed his cheek and let it go on, you were happy to have him,

You'd definitely managed to dig your claws into him now

Meeting and Dating Steve Hays

(I haven’t read the book so I’m just basing this off the movie)

- You meet Steve because of Rusty James. You’re one of Patty’s friends so when she refuses to talk to him he goes to you, dragging Steve along with him. 

- While Rusty tries to get you to talk to Patty for him Steve trails behind and stares at you. He just can’t help himself, he’s completely enamored with you. When Rusty’s finished talking with you he has to drag Steve away. 

- Rusty can tell Steve likes you from the big dumb grin he has on his face so he decides to set you guys up at some point. 

- He technically sets you guys up but not in the way he was planning to. He’d ditched Steve to talk with Patty while Patty ditched you to avoid Rusty, meaning you and Steve were left standing together. 

- He awkwardly introduced himself with a nervous laugh and the two of you began to talk for the first time. 

- Since there was no sign of either of your friends, the two of you decided to just hang out together. You sort of just wandered around town for a while until Rusty found you and began to tag along and annoy you. 

- Both of you decided that you should just meet up some other time, preferably without Rusty James. 

- Your first date is at Benny’s, the two of you play pool and drink chocolate milk together, enjoying each others company for hours. You only left when Benny had to close the place up. 

- He walks you home that night and almost kisses you while you’re standing together on your porch. He was so close but he just couldn’t work up the courage to go through with it. In the end he just says goodnight with a goofy little grin. 

- When you closed the door, he couldn’t believe how stupid he’d been. He cursed himself all the way home. Rusty James was undoubtedly waiting on his porch, ready to hear about everything that had happened. 

- Over the next few weeks the two of you go on a bunch of different dates. Learning more and more about each other as you fall further and further in love. 

- Your first kiss was probably at a party after Rusty egged him on. He didn’t even say anything, just walked up to you on shaking legs and tugged you into his lips. 

- The two of you continued to kiss throughout the night, seemingly unable to stop. You were both extremely happy to say the least and after about two months the two of you were officially in a relationship. 

- You were kind of adopted into Rusty’s ‘gang’. 

- Sometimes Rusty will just show up at your house to hang out. He’s crashed your dates multiple times, mostly because he cannot function without Steve. 

- Steve’s a bit worried that you’ll fall for someone whose more macho and cooler than him; like Rusty, especially since Rusty seems to enjoy hanging out with you a lot. 

- He knows what the guys in the ‘gang’ say about him so he kind of just assumes you think the same. You always reassure him that that’s not true. 

 “Do you honestly think I’d rather be with one of those morons?”

“I would much rather date you, no matter who you’re up against.”

- Double dates with Rusty and Patty. 

- He’s so used to being around Rusty that he forgets he doesn’t have to make sure you aren’t trying to kill yourself 24/7. 

- He usually only has to worry about your safety whenever Rusty invites you somewhere or leads you away to go do something. 

 “No Rusty, you can’t take her to learn how to win in a knife fight.”

- Although he hates seeing you hurt and feels horrible when you’re sick or upset, he does like taking care of you. 

- Whenever you’re sick or hurt he’s there in an instant with ice packs, band aids and gallons of medicine. He turns into a very adorable nurse. 

- He always makes sure to get you home before dark and shows you all of the safe ways to get where you need to go. 

- When it gets really late, he’ll usually try to persuade you to just stay at his house. If you insist on going home he insists on walking with you, although he probably makes a quick call to Rusty so he can meet up with you guys. 

- On one hand he wants to protect you and seem tough but on the other hand he doesn’t want to get stabbed in an alleyway as he walks you home, so yeah, he calls Rusty. 

- Joking that him and Rusty would make a cute couple, cue nervous laughter and sweating. 

- He’s much more of a follower so he prefers when you make decisions or plan dates. 

- He’s cool with doing anything you choose. He doesn’t think you can put him through anything worse than what he’s already been put through. 

- He tends to trail after you a lot and sometimes hides behind you when conflict arises. 

- Getting phone calls whenever one of his friends is hurt and he’s panicking. 

- I think he probably has some sort of ptsd or anxiety disorder considering what he’s been through, You help him through it whenever things get really bad or whenever he needs it in general. 

- You guys probably talk shit about the “gang” when the two of you are alone, especially motorcycle boy who he kind of envies yet hates passionately; you hear about motorcycle boy a lot. He’s one of the main causes of Steve’s stress. 

- Sticking up for him, it kind of embarrasses him but it makes him feel all warm and fuzzy. 

- Even though he’s usually really passive he does have a streak of sass and aggression. He has to be pushed for it to come out but he is the king of comebacks and insults whenever he does get angry. 

- If it really comes down to it he’s going to defend you, he isn’t going to let anyone disrespect you. 

- He acts much older than he is which you’re kind of thankful for. In a town full of dumbasses trying to get themselves killed, you’re glad you found the one rational thinker. 

- Struggling to kiss him when he’s standing up. He finds it adorable that you have to stand on your tiptoes to reach his face. 

- He likes burying his face in the crook of your neck when the two of you cuddle. 

- Nervous laughing and jokes. 

- Clammy hand holding. 

- He’s the kind of guy who rubs your knuckles with his thumb while you hold hands. 

- Beach dates.

- Gentle kisses on the forehead. 

- He keeps your picture in his pocket so he has it with him at all times. 

- Sharing chocolate milks and milkshakes. 

- Patching him up when things go south, you kiss every bruise and give him a long hug once you’re finished. 

- Pushing his glasses up his nose. 

- Brushing the hair from his eyes.  

- His parents constantly make him read and study so he’s the king of useless facts. 

- Speaking of parents~ he kind of hates his and would rather not be home with them. 

- Sometimes the two of you pretend like he went home when your parents come to say goodnight and the instant they go to their room he crawls out from under the bed. 

 “Are you sure this is okay? I don’t want you to get in trouble because of me.”

- Wearing his shirts ...a lot. Pair those baby’s up with a skirt or some jeans and it’s a look™.

- Gentle hands resting on your hips. 

- He’s easily seduced. It’s not hard for you to convince him to get in bed with you or go home instead of staying with the guys. 

- I’m sure he’ll get into a good college, get a nice job and get the hell out of town. The two of you will find somewhere that isn’t filled with thugs to settle down in. 

- He just wants a normal nonviolent life with you.
