Aramis, stop shaking Athos. 

Guess what? It’s not selfish to avoid emotional trauma, especially if you’re afraid it might push you into a tailspin you can’t recover from. Athos is allowed to love and value Porthos at the same that he tries to escape a situation where’ll he’ll inevitably drink himself to death.

It would be ideal if Athos could communicate his issues, and tell Aramis why he’s avoiding la Fère. They could find a solution together. But Athos wouldn’t be Athos, if he had even the slightest idea how to ask for help.
